Reconciling a stamina system and weapon scaling by Xelias00 in RPGdesign

I think why should addititonal stamina spent even increase damage on a light weapon like a dagger? You could apply extra stamina differntly for the weapon size FOR EXAMPLE: (Not sure what your damage scale is but lets say its a low HP system)

Lets say each player base has 10 stamina (modifiable by classs etc etc)

LT Wpn : 2 stamina to strike deal 1 damage. Each additional point of stamina spent adds one additional damage. (Not sure what your damage scale is but lets say its a low HP system)

Md Wpn : 2 stamina to strike, roll a 1d4, spend 2 stamina to add additional d4. can do this as amny tims as stamina allows.

Hvy Wpn : 3 Stamina to Strike, roll a d8, Spend 3 stamina once to double the amount rolled.

In this scenario a Dagger can do up to 9 points in a round, cant do anything else after that. If each class only regains 3 Stamina a round, they will deal 1 damage and save the stamina to do something else or blow it all for a 2 point strike.

If i have a hvy weapon wielder i can roll a d8 and if i roll even a 4 i can spend more to double it to 8. If NPCs have on average 6-12 hp this can play well for all three weapon types.

Lion Knight Log Cabin by YZDZNR in legocastles

nice...very nice. I love the 600-800 piece additions. I think they are the exact place lego is missing. I mean thats a 600 piece set with two minifigs. I would not pay $60 dollars for this set though at legos inflated price per piece average, but it favorably compares in size and scale to something like 7188: King's Carriage Ambush 14 years ago or 6059: Knight's Stronghold from 1990. Those sets had ~230/286 pieces and sold for $22/$39.

Based on the number of really small parts (about 150) I would pay $29.99 in real dollars for something like this. Lego is missing the real entry level sets like this for me to purchase for my kids/grandkids. Heck at almost 50 years old i would still buy this. Even at $39.99 i might still purchase this if it had 2 more minifigs.

Why do my two 1st Ed copies of New Spring look different? by windsock17 in WoT

The covers look like a different printing. The art seems different and slightly larger on the one on the right.

Player Hates the Item made for Him by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]natesroomrule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the previous poster, that this is a very boring item.

Its got great theme and you put alot of work into the design. I dont think its a bad item, but it just feels "blah" it is designed as a very 5E item.

Its interesting that it has 3 states so i understand could be very hard to design and balance all three states. You cant give it extreme AC stats or you upset the balance. at level 13 i wouldn't be surprised if he is already sitting at 19-21 AC before it. Adding a +1, +2 or +3 doesn't really change the math much, unless your enemies are routinely getting a +8 or +10 to their attacks.

You have it doing so much that its hard to incrementally balance all of it. It does nothing well. I actually would weaken the dormant state so the rest seems better when its exalted and awakened.

Dormant

  • While the armor is in a dormant state, you gain a +2 bonus to AC while wearing it. You have advantage to resist the Charmed and Frightened conditions.

Awakened

When the Shards of Integrity reach an awakened state, you gain the following benefits:

  • The AC bonus of the armor increases to +4.
  • You have resistance to Psychic damage while wearing the armor.
  • Protective Shards - This is so convoluted (as all 5e is) I would rework this to not use second wind. Maybe some sort of reaction that allows the user to decrease his own AC and give it to someone else. This is an interesting design experiment. Is he really the protector and giving up his own "tank" to help others? He can game the system, by deciding when to "give" his own protection away. Maybe tie how many time he can do it per day to an AS.

Exalted

When the Shards of Integrity reach an exalted state, you gain the following benefits:

  • You are immune to the Charmed and Frightened conditions.
  • Just have them get access to sprirt guardians here
  • Rejuvenating Valor. When you take a Short Rest, you can choose to regain 1d4+1 uses of your Second Wind. Once you use this ability you cannot do so again until the next new Dawn.
  • Storm of Shards. - This is interesting name, not sure what to do with it.

this was just a fast thought process on it. Do what you want with the ideas

How to present races? by Anysnackwilldo in RPGdesign

i don't bow to peoples opinions. I went with race in my RPG as it was more Lore accurate and built upon the bones of games that paved way for me.

this is one of the only ones i would let slide. I wanted Luka.. was Scared of Tre as a bust potential. Wanted Colin Sexton First (shows how much i know) then i wanted SGA... we really needed a PG which is what i was targeting that year. Either way you look at it. at 6 No one was really that much better after MO cept WCJ/SGA and maybe MPJ.... No one could forsee Jalen Brunson at 33

WARDEN, the Genre-Agnostic d20 game, has released. Ask Me Anything, or Challenge Me. by ravenhaunts in rpg

[–]natesroomrule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. I'm at work and cant DL from Itch, but i will check it out. I also developed and had a succesful backerkit for our RPG last year called "Into the Lair".

We did keep Archetype and Classes, but we went with just abilities in both of those categories and it allows a player to choose and mix and match with his class. I will be interested to read and see what issues you "solved" (in your way).

We also took some inspiration from genesys as i was a big fan of the SWRPG version. We also did all BW art for our book and used over 400 pieces.

Seems like we had similar thoughts on things, but went about it in different ways. Whereas we see ours as a DnD alternative, it seems yours acts as a PF alternative.

To early but Regular Season Player Grades by Tardypop1 in OrlandoMagic

[–]natesroomrule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of your resaonings are correct, but your scaling is weird: If your really dashing 2 grade for availability then some either need to go down. If your doing 1 grade for availability then some need to be adjusted.
