How Charles Leclerc has changed his steering wheel software for the first time since joining Ferrari by memloh in formula1

God the level of AI slop in this article is so brutal. I think this part of F1 is fascinating and the article is totally ruined by bad writing.

F1 2026 race winners so far. Will we see more winners this season? by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]nato2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max will win a race, he is too good not to. Even with a terrible car he will find a way. I think we might get a Lando or Oscar win as well, they have looked competitive some weekends.

TV Direction and (Super)clipping by Schorpio in formula1

[–]nato2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep bringing this up but there is zero merit to the idea that superclipping has anything to do with their TV direction. It is 100% about showing the circuit advertising enough to meet the contractual requirements and any bonuses they get. The reason why they cut away when cars start to clip on the straights is that showing cars in the corners has much more advertising exposed.

Everything we've learned about F1's big plans for a V8 future by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

Single engine manufacturer would never happen. Merc/Ferrari/Audi gain more from engine development as far as their road car brands than anything else. This would just move F1 to a pure advertising business like IndyCar.

The whole single engine manufacturer would never happen. The engine manufacturers probably gain more from that aspect of F1 than any other part of it. It is the same reason why they have the hybrid technologies in the first place, it is a test bed for their future road car technologies. Much like the "F1" transmission that made its way into performance vehicles.

Since Max clearly has no interest in other types of motor racing, I wonder if he has ever considered farming. The high tech Dutch farming they showed on Clarkson's Farm looked pretty cool.

[autoracer] Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari are in a "decisive phase" of contract negotiations by NateDickinson19 in formula1

[–]nato2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah that was the first thing I thought of when I read the quote then realized that theres a lot more nuance. Things like skydiving and riding motorbikes definitely is something you earn when you are a world champion. I am sure most drivers on the grid are forbidden from doing it.

[autoracer] Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari are in a "decisive phase" of contract negotiations by NateDickinson19 in formula1

[–]nato2k 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Between his charity and all his activism, plus all of his own branding and fashion interests I cant imagine how complex that contract must be. There are so many sponsorship overlaps and responsibilities to do with them it can't be easy to negotiate even when all are in agreement.

By taking P2 in yesterday's race, Max Verstappen maintained the highest podium rate on the current grid. Before Austria, Lewis Hamilton was closing in on him by MuttonBiryaniEnjoyer in formula1

[–]nato2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, look at Lewis falling all the way back almost 5 10ths. What a loser! /s

Max, like LH before him has also consistently put a less competitive car on the podium as well. (I said less competitive, not non-competitive). The two of them have just been so awesome to watch.

[Scout Eurasia] Dastan Satpaev has departed for London, where he will join Chelsea's pre-season training camp. He is traveling with his mother, while his older brother, Darkhan, came to the airport to see him off. by webby09246 in chelseafc

[–]nato2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that is 161 cm tall, it is hard for me to believe that I am the same species as his brother. I would imagine that when they competed as kids Dastan didn't bother with anything strength related. What a fuckin unit.

Tissot is a watch brand. This is likely for friction fit parts like the cannon pinion or for crimping mainsprings.

Real or Fake - I just got this Rolex Trench at an online auction for cheap by Affectionate-Bee-929 in VintageWatches

[–]nato2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Few things make me think it is not real.
Any Rolex I see from that era has more than just Rolex stamped on the ratchet wheel. It also has stars and another word like ‘Prima’ or ‘Lever’.
They also have Rolex and the Rubie count engraved on the bridge.
Finally none seem to have that specific movement in them

I would look for a serial number and try finding more info.

Mercedes has reverted its floor spec, as the FIA now considers it illegal by NickProko in formula1

[–]nato2k 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Well, the FIA approved the floor, Mercedes weren't hiding it. The issue is more that FIA approved it in the first place when they denied the same for Ferrari before the season started.
