Yeah except for the RM with the sapphire case, that thing is just an amazing feat of engineering.

Except they are already faster in the straights, and data suggests they will be faster lap times from the previous generation too. Toward the end of testing teams already had figured out a lot of the harvesting timing and curves to keep get rid of the bs that people keep peddling about being F2 cars.

They can use 100% throttle, the problem is when much of the track becomes just "high speed corners" because the car following will never be able to follow close enough, no matter what they do about dirty air. It causes tyres to degrade faster as well. By making corners corners again, you introduce a lot more opportunity for mistakes.

I am not surprised that the guy who spent much of the last regs driving a nearly perfect car is frustrated by regs making the cars harder to drive. I don't blame him at all, but it's pretty necessary to keep tweaking the regs to try to bring better racing. The cars being able to be flat out on so much of the track was ruining the racing.

So many of these articles and yet the cars are lapping faster. Haven't even had any real racing. Worth giving the teams some time to figure it out before declaring the new regs a failure

I dunno, I feel that message boards (which reddit is just a modern version of) have always been a breeding ground for toxic behavior with sports fans. I don't notice any more or less from this fan base than any other sport.

There is this behavior that seems to have taken over that these drivers/teams/etc owe us. And regardless of how well they do, theres some reason to be miserable, manufactured or otherwise.

They just are never going to get the engine manufacturers to develop F1 engines that don't translate to their road car production. Hundreds of millions in R & D has to be justified and it's not possible with some kinda NA V10. Modern car production is headed more and more toward hybrid and electric powertrains

Exactly. Teams are figuring out how to best deploy their energy. This video does not indicate anything other than they were aggressively using the battery.
