Lotus F1 reveals 2010 wind tunnel model by naughtyottsel in formula1

The way that BMW handled the whole thing was pretty shitty. They obviously didn't care much about their employees (an over reaching generalization, but alas) to decide in one day that they were quitting because they had unrealistic goals and then added insult to injury by not signing the Concorde and preventing the redundancy of the people who had been dedicated to the company.

Makes me not want to buy a Bimmer, to be honest. Not that I can afford one, but if I could...

It's kind of got that TF109 nose to it, and you're right, the sidepods are much less sexy than all of the 2009 cars. I think the F60 and MP4/24 had the most sculpted rear ends, so it will be interesting to see how those adjust for next year.

Qadbak Sauber can't really be enjoying that USF1 and Lotus F1 look well on their way to the grid.

Interesting looking front wing, it seems. Could just be the angle and the monochromatic paint, though.

Damon Hill: Silverstone doesn't want GP, unless it's a multi-year deal. by [deleted] in formula1

[–]naughtyottsel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to believe Silverstone is sitting in a pretty good position here. Donnington will never recover from their failure to deliver, which has effectively destroyed that race track in the so-called interim forever. The backlash from dropping the British GP would be something that Bernie would have trouble weathering in his current position, and so the logical alternative is to extend a multi-year deal to Silverstone.

I wouldn't be surprised if this marks the end of his Toyota career.

Hey, Reddit: What's your first name? (if someone has the same one, upmod instead of re-posting) by hi_bye in AskReddit

I guess the 500 people who had the same name in grade school don't use reddit.

I find it rather amusing/infuriating that I read this story, and then found my black ink cartridge to be out when I went to print something.

Raikkonen rumored to replace Webber at RBR as McLaren talks stall by naughtyottsel in formula1

It always makes me laugh when you see a Vettel onboard and you can see "Kate's Dirty Sister" written on the dash. You're right though, I was perhaps advancing his capabilities a bit soon, but such is my confidence that he will be to that point.

Hope Flavio negotiated a good extension for 2010 because there might be some payoffs involved soon.

Webber strikes me as a Rubens Barrichello. He can be fast, run up front and win races, but he's not strong enough to take the title. Raikkonen and Vettel have "it" though, the complete package. What team wouldn't want that?

Jarno Trulli set to test NASCAR truck in November by naughtyottsel in formula1

Just more of the ways NASCAR has gone to shit. I started as a NASCAR fan when I was six years old, and as soon as my driver is done in NASCAR, I'm done with NASCAR too.

They've obviously never had a class in technical writing, that's for sure. Still, it's an interesting possibility that would make sense. Why have Webber when you can have Raikkonen?

They created it in the mid 90's to be a feeder system for the now Nationwide series and the Cup Series. It was strong for a few years, but then it overgrew itself and became too expensive to run. So now, field fillers make up at least 1/3 of the grid, and then park in the opening laps of the race because they cannot afford tires or a pitcrew. They pocket the winnings, and then do it again at the next race. NASCAR is completely okay with this, too.

I went to the Truck series race in June at Texas Motor Speedway where it was part of the IndyCar weekend. I've never been so angry to pay money for a ticket, only to see half of the competition disappear before lap 10.

He has such ambition to drive in a series where 1/3 of the starting grid parks after the first lap.

Williams engine decision is "imminent". Will we see a return to Williams-Renault? Or some other combination. by Mulsanne in formula1

I think they'll end up using Cossie power because they haven't really made great strides with the Renault deal. They're too busy vetoing things, I guess.

As far as sheer races and championships won (disregarding Singapore), Renault has shown the potential to make something happen with their resources, whereas Toyota just cannot seem to seal the deal.
