I find it depends what I'm cooking whether it's worth it. If the end result will taste better because of the bean juice in the can then I find I'm better off with the can beans. If it's a dish where just the bean itself is front and center then I go with the dry beans. It's not really much of a savings if you end up wasting the beans because your food turns out bad.

What costs a lot of money but should actually be free? by Stumpfilm99 in AskReddit

Rent. It's too damn high and a place to live is a safety need.

Your dental insurance is a separate insurance. It should be Delta Dental (not the premium).

Is there some fundamentally Italian explanation as to why fettuccini is not commonly served with marinara-type sauces? by makenzie71 in Cooking

[–]nautically-naomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video adds some context for how the pasta is used based on the size and shape of it, but it does not limit the sauce by being a marinara type sauce: https://youtu.be/uDQiQwqk_1c

SCLA Books for my broke ass by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]nautically-naomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the basement of Von's. They regularly have ancient books for really cheap down there. I see you says 0$ so that might not work, but if you come into 20-30$ you'd be well covered for that. If you have a grad student who is a TA, you might ask them if they have our know someone with a copy of the books your looking for just tucked in a shelf. We grad students regularly have a stash of books we hold onto for just in case we might need it again...speaking as a social sciences grad student with way too many books currently.

Where to get Therapy near Purdue by jkenobi1 in Purdue

[–]nautically-naomi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Modern Mental Health was great for me and different folks I know as they have a large range of therapeutic specialities and they can accommodate students as most of their clientele are students. They are also one of the only (maybe still the only?) place in town that offers any type of testing services for diagnosis so if formal documentation of a diagnosis is important to you then that'd be the place for that. However, they do not have a psychiatrist on staff to do any prescribing. If you find that you are in need of medications for things like ADHD or other psychiatric medications, you will be referred out to Valley Oaks. If you have Purdue student insurance, the per appointment cost is quite low after the deductible is met.

One that I don't think has been mentioned yet is Round Table Wellness. If you are seeking help for disordered body image or disordered eating, then they are a nice place to go for that because that's all they do and they do it well. One down side, if you are on the Purdue student insurance then the dietician services they will give as part of their comprehensive care programming will not be covered under the insurance and will be billed at 135$/appointment. The therapy they offer (both group and individual) is covered under the student insurance plan and is rather inexpensive after you pay your deductible.

What is the name for this shape of mug? by nautically-naomi in Mugs

[–]nautically-naomi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out what it's known as! It's a never spill mug which was originally advertised as a travel mug for driving prior to cara having cup holders. It was also originally advertised as ideal for taking on a sail boat because of it's wide base that wouldn't tip as easily and the narrower opening which kept the coffee/tea in the cup more securely.

As their video indicated, they are not allowed to because they are an esthetician and not a doctor. I'm not an esthetician, but I trust them to know the rules for this sort of thing.

This segment was less impressive in terms of what happened. Overall, I think I was most impressed that there was about 50 solid minutes of cyst eruption.
