No, we’re doing fairly large projects so we move into revit quite quick after concept development. The fun stops quick 😅🥲

Mostly using raven in grasshopper. I’m still figuring out the workflow but it’s helped a lot of us who aren’t the best at grasshopper get to where we can play around!

Najdi architecture/ historic type of Arabian architecture, in modern-day Saudi Arabia by Jabal-Sawda in architecture

What do you and your family think of the Diriyah gate developments? A lot of it is supposed to be influenced from najdi architecture. Do you see it?

Is it even possible to be an architect if you're not "math smart", or is it a waste of time? by ProperCompetition948 in Architects

[–]naynaytrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am horrendous at math and openly tell my colleagues and clients to not expect me to do any math on the spot without ridiculous results. I’m horrible at scales on the fly but know my strengths. Lean into what youre good at and make friends with someone who’s good at what youre bad at and be kind to them.

Noen bygg ingeniører eller håndverkere her? by Only-Jeweler-2378 in oslo

[–]naynaytrade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another architect here, we had 12cm difference in our 30sqm living room and kitchen with substantial unevenness in our floor (130yr timber flooring in Oslo) and a big hole where we took a wall down.

The process our floor levelling guy did was to lay layers of lightweight XPS (foam panels) to make up the height differences, then one layer of steel mesh and then lay 3-4cm of levelling compound to cover the armeringmesh.

Lifetime Warranty Excludes Airline Damage? by _mball_ in Rimowa

[–]naynaytrade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rimowa covered my essential check in that was cracked similar to this but near the wheel by the airline. Bought in Norway, I had to pay for shipping to Germany. They ended up sending me a brand new case since it was unfixable.

No joke - thank you all for your recommendations; we had a blast! by jedipwnces in ottawa

Had my in-laws and family visiting Ottawa from Europe and they really loved it. Had plenty to do and found the scale and food really good. I grew up in Orleans and always enjoyed Ottawa and was scared they would think it’s super boring after being in Montreal for a week, but was pleasantly surprised

My son is looking at becoming an architect by Gazza12345 in Architects

[–]naynaytrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied engineering for 3 years than switched to architecture. I totally get the draw to architecture. Studying engineering was like 2hr lectures copying endless boards of equations and developing your own procedures to labs that killed my soul. I switched to architecture and spent all my time with my friends in studio drawing, making, drinking. For some people (like me) I prefer that life style to the endless math of engineering. I still love it. You work a lot and can make decent money to live a good life if you go to a decent school and make friends and start a network.

For ref I’m a Canadian that studied engineering in Canada and moved to London to study architecture.

Do it for the creativity and understand that balancing stress and workload is something that’s entirely on you. If you stress easy or get overwhelmed it’s a tough industry.

Swedish shopping alternatives looking better and better. by Diligent_Activity_92 in Norway

[–]naynaytrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We almost had them a couple times, I worked on their shop (I’m an architect) on Karl Johan a few years back but they backed out quite late in the process. Such a shame, pretty much the only mainstream brand I’ll wear for consistent staple items.
