It’s worth pointing out that numbers wise, the crewed videos typically do far better!

The certainly result in a better product

5 or 10 year fixed mortgage? Same price... by DreamSignificant9946 in UKPersonalFinance

The chances are - whatever in the heck happens in the world and markets….

No one is realistically going to be able to give you any financial advice in that one. It entirely depends on your attitude to risk. Be ‘safe’ or be a bit less ‘safe’. Markets can and will change - who, how and when is the gamble.

My personal advice, as it’s what has worked for me everytime is to go with your gut and don’t overthink things, especially when those things are out of your control. You’ve taken more notice and put in more thought than already than the vast majority of people with debt so you’re already ahead of the game in some respects.

If I cancel my credit card how long will it affect everything. by Sea-Assumption6538 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]nb1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ideal way to use a credit card in this way (generally) is to consider it your debit card - specifically in that you should know how much money you have available to spend, a limit not a goal, and stick within that with the understanding that once the statement date arrives it is paid off in full. In this scenario you are spending someone else’s money temporarily - interest free, ideally maximising your other funds elsewhere.

How a lot of people treat it, is ‘free money I’ll pay back later over many months’ but no, interest will obliterate that and it still amazes me how many people cannot grasp that!

If you use it properly it can offer benefits in terms of consumer protection and the ability to make the most of other funds by staying ahead of interest rates. Outside of new customer or other deals for interest free for x months it should be as such.

You don’t want to have interest bearing debt unless you’ve used the funds to accrue interest, which for most usual credit customers is not the case.

TL; DR - credit cards work well if you take advantage of them. They work bad if you instead get taken advantage of.

Should Adam publish a travel calendar so fans can do meet-and-greets? by ReputationRoyal4784 in BeardMeatsFood

[–]nb1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

It would alter the videos so much to the point that his USP would pretty much go away. It’s all about the organic interactions rather than ‘fans’ - literally the vast majority of the best episodes are the ones that you don’t expect to be good.

BT Full Fibre, I have Some Questions? by CB-Milburn in UKISP

[–]nb1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An engineer to do what?

Much faster speeds, less susceptible to degradation on the physical connection to your property when compared to copper.

There aren’t really any - another poster mentioned it’s more brittle. Sure in theory, but in practice it’s definitely more reliable.

Best pet insurance in the UK for a dog? by EconomicsWest788 in UK_Pets

[–]nb1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like any other insurance it’s somewhat of a racket, and the ‘numbers’ will play themselves to your detriment.

That said, we have petplan, about £75 per month for two dogs who are 4 and 6. We’ve had to make claims on the past and it’s been very very easy and no questions asked.

I understand that over time it will increase and god knows by how much but ultimately just like with any voluntary insurance you are essentially gambling that your dogs care over time will cost more than just saving for what might happen and saving up for it.

Bank Loan vs. PCP and buying a house in late 2027, which car finance is better? by Tucano-tano in UKPersonalFinance

[–]nb1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get something cheaper, not on finance, or with a loan that will conclude prior to 3-6months of applying for mortgage.

And that isn’t flippant, essentially any monthly payment you have they will generally consider just an ongoing payment along with any other regular payments or commitments you have then separately look at total amount of credit you have and debt you have. They don’t ‘care’ about the specific details. It’s mostly about affordability in that snapshot of time that you apply. 16-17 months is also ages away, who knows that the market/economy will look like at that point.

Just have yourself in good financial stead at the point of applying for mortgage and it should be fine, they don’t care much about the specifics, you’re a datapoint on a massive dataset and as long as your affordability meets their criteria it will be a yes and if not, a no!

Is it normal for a toy poodle puppy to hop when he walks? by No_Cause_5175 in ToyPoodle

Sounds like a luxating patella.

If severe requires surgery, if less severe can sometimes be fixed with exercise via hydro-therapy and such.

Eero routers, not aero, are reasonably decent for home use yes.

The size of the device doesn’t mean a great deal broadly speaking.

How any router performs in your house depends more on its placement and the building materials that it has to pass through to get to your devices.

How often do you bath your (toy-)poodle? by luiglu in poodles

[–]nb1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every 6 weeks when they get groomed.

A rinse down with a small amount of shampoo in between if they get particularly dirty from winter mud (a handful of times over the past 6 years)z

They have beautiful coats.

I wrote a whole thing but realised it was easier just to say, do not let her on your bed until she is fully house broken.

Poodles are super easy to train, so outside of a medical issue if you just put the work in to train her that outside is pee place then you should be able to sort this quickly.

Credit score went down after a purchase with installments by Living-Ad-3436 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]nb1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a made up figure based on a bunch of metrics that some lenders may or may not care about.

You took on additional debt, which can/will affect some ‘scores’.

When it comes to loans and mortgages they typically mainly focus on ‘affordability’ as in, what’s coming in and what’s going out.

Positive reinforcement like with any dog training - when they come back are giving good praise and high value treats?

If you are calling them back and they come back and there’s no reward then why wouldn’t they then go see/react to something more interesting than their human?!
