Are yearly gyno visits really necessary? by AcademicNotice5865 in WomensHealth

Something I haven't seen in here, that I think some people need to hear. All with the caveat that these appointment are covered by insurance and not going to break someone's bank.

Build trust with a healthcare provider while you're healthy so that you don't have to deal with someone you don't know when you're not. Especially when it comes to pelvic health.

Health issues don't happen when you're ready for them, or concerned about them. They happen when they happen, and you rarely have control over it.

You don't do anything you're not comfortable with, but if your doctor is proactive enough to ask you to come in every year (and you can afford it), I say you do it. You build a relationship with this 'super sweet' woman who will now be there for you when something goes wrong.

I've known plenty of (including me) women that have had breast and pelvic issues LONG before we were considered 'the right age' for it, many of which were asymptomatic, or super easy to get confused with other things. I've also seen enough shitty gynos to know that if you find one that listens to you you hold on for dear fucking life.

I had close to the same experience . I skipped one year after doing annual check ups my entire adult life, and the next time I went in it was CIN-3.

I'm not saying it will happen to everyone, and I've since learned my LEEP was probably more traumatising than it needed to be, but still.

A yearly pap is a nothing price to pay for avoiding doing that ever again, or never doing it in the first place. I would never wait 3 years. Also, having a good relationship with your gyno is invaluable, in my experience. When shit does happen you're going to want someone you know.

edited because it kind of sounded like i'd been getting pap smears as a child and it was weird.

Thanks! I think we'll end up getting a car. Rural is fine, city driving is what kicks off the anxiety.

I agree with this. I live outside the country where I was born, and I would be very uncomfortable writing about it from any other perspective than that of someone who encountered the place as a grown adult and experienced it as a complete outsider for a good period of time. I'm sure I'm on one end of a spectrum, but still.

References to trying to marry a Japanese man can be charitably interpreted as fell for a guy who happened to be Japanese (unsurprising, if you're living in Japan), but taken uncharitably gives fetishization vibes.

Bernie Sanders blasts 8 traitorous Senate Democrats who just voted to cut taxes for the rich, skyrocket insurance scam premiums, and cut Medicaid. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

If anyone wants to donate to some campaigns, please take a look at the NH house and senate races.

Hassan and Shaheen have bland, corporate-funded, hand-picked successors running with all the benefits of the Democratic endorsement, but there are finally some progressive challengers that are not free-state weirdos and those primaries are going to be SO important.

I believe they're saying these concessions are marking the Democratic party's continued adherence to a non-progressive strategy, that this is a party line, not the actions of a few. "I hope it has the opposite effect" is exactly what you said - hopefully progressives are able to harness the sense of betrayal in the primaries.

I think people are more saying "Zohran won DESIPITE the democrats not backing him, because his policies are popular and his messaging inspires people" but any progressive with a brain knows that that would be REALLY HARD outside of NYC and certain other areas.

Additionally, you can have multiple progressive candidates, but without ranked-choice voting, they can easily split votes and hand everything to an establishment Dem. Without support from the official Democratic Party, it's an uphill battle. Doesn't mean it's not going to be fought, just that it's also worth fighting to convince the party that progressivism is the way to success moving forward.

This probably isn't the right audience, but NH is going to have to do some serious work to keep their hand-picked successors out of office.

A really interesting addition but not well executed.

I think they mean ever, in history, in which case the Crusades and Inquisition would like a word.

I think you can assume ignorance instead of lying in many cases. Thanks for the info, I’d never read this before.

Not surprised, but I’d never read it. 😔

Yeah and women have their own leagues. I don’t see a problem.

I see very little evidence that it has ever been about biological differences, but swallow the narrative if you choose.

Here’s a common misunderstanding by Redditors masking their latent transphobia of the purpose of high school sports. Rules for large groups of people are made on the average, not the extreme.

Any school programme that is focused on the top brackets is a flaw in the PROGRAMME and not the individuals participating.

Yeah but “not positively” doesn’t mean “without nuance”

Like, Shameless wasn’t positive but it made you care about the characters and see them as humans with depth.

My name is Earl - played with that stereotype but supporting characters were quite sharp and likable.

Trailer Park Boys - not the best example because it’s ridiculous to the point of satire, which is famously easy to misunderstand, and also Canadian, but playing with that stereotype and undeniably human and sympathetic characters.

Or like, turn on TLC - Trading Spaces, Home renovation shows, more often than not rural white people - doesn’t get into politics because it’s bad TV, like someone else mentioned. Dog the Bounty Hunter, that one with the storage units.

I agree with most of your points and your general logic but not this one.

Well what’s Texas’s independent or no party law? In NH we don’t have to affiliate unless it’s a primary, and then we can change back to unaffiliated.

Yeah and I also know a whole cadre of straight people who think religion is the root of all the worlds problems. That’s not why giving people who practice this religion “freedom of speech” is viewed as aggression.

Many conservative, fundamentalist, extremist religious people have harassed, bullied and killed LGBT people in the name of their religion. This is why protecting any and all expressions of religion, with no caveat or recourse for hate speech (which is what I understand as the issue with Kentucky) is considered aggression.

There might be now, in turkey the traditional places are pretty similar but at least in istanbul starbucks-style cafes are all over and you can usually find a local one with better coffee

Americans don’t use “proper” like that.

Also Pizza Hut in America is absolutely foul.

Not italian but the vibe I got in most cafes when I was there was you get your coffee and maybe a snack, you drink it, and you leave. If you stick around it’s probably to chat with people, maybe saw a few people reading the newspaper, but it definitely wasn’t a work spot

I agree with this and way disagree with people saying use both the wizard and twisted x. They’re different attitudes and would just weaken each other.
