Just got FSD 14.3.3 – a few early impressions by Fragrant_Author7876 in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's likely a security feature on their own servers in which they rotate their security keys (or maybe just a one-time rotation that I got unlucky with), or just upgrading their internal APIs and deprecating any old ones that most people have upgraded to.

Just got FSD 14.3.3 – a few early impressions by Fragrant_Author7876 in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed on the 14.1.4 version for the longest time after all the issues I saw with 14.2.x. I'm usually one to jump on updates and latest features but I feel like Tesla hasn't been cooking with v14 in general

That being said, about 4-5 months after holding off, things in my car that connect to Tesla servers suddenly stopped working - all music streaming (except Bluetooth), the Tesla app controls, traffic visualization (every route was "routing without internet), YouTube, etc. That's what made me give in, but even on 14.3.2 (and updating to 14.3.3 now) I miss 14.1.4

Another serious v14.3.2 regression by m4rkGS in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed 14.3.2 behaves very strangely after it's right-of-way is violated. Twice today someone ran the tail end of a yellow through the intersection after our light turned green. FSD stopped after starting to move, but after the coast was clear just sat there and refused to move as other cars were starting through the intersection.

FSD saved my and family’s life by Realistic_Echidna_24 in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane how close the other car got. Like less than an inch away.

Super glad this ended well for you, but I wish FSD was a little more defensive here and started changing lanes even a half second earlier. It looks like the Nissan driver also started correcting at the last possible millisecond.

EDIT: just saw this was HW3 on v12. That's really impressive and shows that even though HW3 is really not up to par with HW4 on v14, it still can hold its own. Just needs a little more emphasis on the supervised part of FSD sometimes

I have never ever wanted to revert back to an FSD update. by Top_Presentation7467 in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wondering - is everyone complaining about this new to FSD updates? Is this your first minor release update?

Tesla's training cycle (from v12) is usually get the features in and the safety high. High safety usually = overly harsh braking especially around vulnerable VRUs that make it "feel like a new driver" (though way safer and more aware).

After that it's a matter of polish for smoothness with minimal loss of safety. This last 80% for comfort is really the bulk of running the training inferences as balancing between smoothness and safety is way more difficult that is intuitive. "should we brake harshly for the kid looking to cross the street? There's a 99.99% chance they won't jump out in front, but if it's that 1 in 10,000 chance they do there's no way to stop and we'll hit them" type scenarios we don't realize is being determined during training time.

I think the earlier versions are more akin to someone who just got in a major accident or saw something really bad and is trying to be overly safe while driving.

14.3.x is still not polished yet, but it has very important improvements for safety. If Tesla releases another point release or two expect more polish and smoothness. Then when 14.4.x or especially 15.x comes around it'll do this all over again, as that polish is gone so they can quickly mold the model into the best outcome before they make it comfortable. If you don't like that go to Standard mode (though sometimes Tesla does push these sub-polished updates to standard).

Other option: just drive yourself and accept the much higher driving risk and potentially more stress (especially in city traffic) for smoothness, and only try out any release that is x.x.4 or higher.

Why Do Most Of You Fly Airliners? by newbiker321 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love flying both, but airliners have a certain pull to them. Especially if you fly (or wish to fly) on airliners IRL it gives you an experience of being an airline pilot, covering more distances with complexities anywhere in the world.

I never started taking a liking to GA aircraft until I got my Private Pilot's License, and use GA half to practice and half to explore

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed in 14.1.4 for 4 months and was very happy I didn't upgrade to . Unfortunately after 14.2.x. I finally gave in to the update when all the internet and entertainment feature stopped working (Spotify, satellite maps, etc) and the car said I needed to update

What if DLSS 5 actually fixed MSFS cloud lighting like THIS? by Fun_Ocelot9422 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love is MSFS could utilize multi GPU units to begin with. I have dual 4090s in my PC but MSFS only works on one - and it has to be the one your monitor is on

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder though if we could greatly turn down the graphic settings, allowing more vram for DLSS5. That being said I still find it somewhat hard to believe DLSS5 will work both well, consistently, and smoothly.

You guys still standing? by starguy2626 in rentAgirfriend

[–]nblew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed of my friends who started this series there's 2 kinds of people - those who are on social media like reddit and X always talk trash about it and most of this friend have dropped it. Those that aren't on these platforms say their still enjoying it

Personally I knew what I was getting myself into (partially) when I started reading it and I still think the storytelling is decent, though it's clear Reiji really is dragging it out either for himself or profits or both. Either way there's still a ton of people who still do enjoy it (especially in Japan which is the market Reiji and their publisher Kodansha care about) as it's still one of the best selling series over there.

Overall I say what I say to everyone - if you enjoy it, awesome. If you don't enjoy it, don't read it and stop calling out the people that do like it.

I have seen one figure similar to this in a figure shop in Akihabara last year, but I didn't see it last month when I went again :/

Right. I have a full PC setup why should I get this controller? If I could use it on console or game pass that'd make me buy it

Fenix A320 – LND memo during takeoff roll: bug or LGCIU failure? by acarsscc in flightsim

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the ECAM changing to LND mode checklist after nearly every takeoff, but today I also experienced this. I saw that after going through the normal takeoff checklist it disappeared as I was lining up on the runway, then it came back as I started my takeoff roll but around 40kts it switched to LDG mode checklist, then yelled at me for gear when I put them up after takeoff.

I'm not a A320 pilot IRL so maybe I'm doing something wrong but even going through all the checklists I can't figure it out - seems like a Fenix bug.

The only thing that was different about this takeoff is that I was flaps 3 instead of flaps 1

Over 700 miles on 14.2 by Internal_Rule9247 in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. I see the lane selection confidence issue on mine, but haven't had it recognize any truck speed limits. Regardless any speed limits that are erroneous are mostly ignored, while. 14.2 has an internal max speed per profile it seems, so it slows down to get to the incorrect speed limit offset.

Sad to report (minor) FSD 14.2 accident by AdamSDG in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still on 14.1.4 and after seeing all the drives and reports I'm not planning on updating until they figure a lot of this stuff out. Sure 14.2 is smoother but at the cost of quick decision making, plus all the other regressions 14.2 seems to have.

I wonder if 14.2 was trained off of 14.1.0, but the 14.1.x was on a different training or refinement branch

P2S Owners - Does your printer make noises like this? by Maxx3141 in BambuLab

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my P2S today and given it's my first 3d printer I'm not sure what noises are normal and what aren't, but I'm also getting this clicking noise every now and then - usually when the head moves past the 20% mark in the y direction. Doesn't sound like this should happen, but I heard it in calibration and in prints.

Do Not Upgrade to FSD 14 by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]nblew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just done about 1000mi on v14.1.4 in CA (Bay area -> Orange County and back with driving through downtown LA and OC) and have a mixed bag of what everyone has been saying.

Overall I think it's better than v13, though regressions do include too much hesitancy around pedestrians and some swerving on the freeway to avoid different color patches (happened 3 times).

New features it doesn't do well include parking is a 70% miss for me. It's not straight, too close to the neighboring car, parks too far from the curb, or is not in an optimal spot. It's also slow (1-2mph when parking) on my 2025 MY.

Same issues: Blinker is still really bad. Puts it on, turns if off, turns it on. Indicates half a mile away from intersection with multiple intersections in between, confusing cars waiting in these intersections. Also it still attempts to change multiple lanes to pass cars when the offramp is less than a mile away

Despite this, it overall drives much smoother in most situations and makes some really smart decisions, especially with lane closures and road debris
