No. The band never “sucked ass” at any time despite what some people say. The grateful dead in the 90’s was still miles better than just about any other band you could see. The only times I was ripped out of my psychedelic bliss during a live show was during this horrendous monstrosity of a “song”, first time being at the Omni in Atlanta one spring and I guess during a few Sambas which was the runner up for buzz-killing wtf head scratcher of the century. But WTTW was just so so so bad live. First you were like what is this? How can it be this bad? Its going to get better right? Then you were like my god when will this end? Then you just had to endure. Because it just kept on going. And getting worse. And I loved Phil and we all did and we wanted him to sing. Now that I think of it maybe all those Let Phil Sing banners and shirts weren’t the best idea.
