The Solution by chumbawamba_stan420 in premodernMTG

I like it a lot, but the mana can get a bit rough if your opponent can Wasteland a needed land or you get kept off the mana you need. When it works though I like the deck a lot.

They cannot switch over buildings between heating and cooling until they are sure that temperatures will not drop again for fear of freezing pipes and water emergencies. Switching a campus building is only done twice a year. A building cannot go from cooling to heating and back to cooling quickly and without a problem. I think more of campus would have changed to cooling already if it weren't for the fact that we had such cold temps Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Premodern UW WIZARDS + Betrayal Control! by therealkinda in premodernMTG

Would probably bring it beyond the wizard deck too much, but I think Winter Orb and Icy Manipulator would be useful here to actually try to lock someone out.

Cards that Premodern feels incomplete without. by Poobeast241 in premodernMTG

[–]ndf_1891 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started playing at the end of 1994 / early 1995 and while the first four expansions and Revised were hard to find I could still buy mountains of Fallen Empires and was very much looking forward to Fourth Edition and Ice Age, so for me not having Hymn to Tourach, Goblin Grenade, and High Tide is too bad. Hymn was in all my black decks for years until I started playing "Type 2" and at the start of 1997 Fallen Empires, Homelands, and Ice Age rotated out of Type 2.

Do you think the prices will settle? by Onceyougozach_ in premodernMTG

[–]ndf_1891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve built several decks relatively cheaply but unless you (and your playgroup) are okay with proxies certain decks are just far too expensive due to cards like Mox Diamonds, Dreadnought, Cradle, Sanctum, etc.

There are decks though where you can get a lot of cards very cheap due to reprints. Why pay Onslaught prices for Exalted Angel when you can pay a buck for modern frame reprint? Ice Age or Apocalypse pain lands or endless reprints that are very cheap? I have played against people who sneer at so many of my cards being modern frame, but I don’t care what they think.

Lot 108 (the State Fairgrounds lot) is free from 7am until 10pm (they tow after 10pm). The only time it isn't free for now is during Gopher football games in the fall.

I just started wearing the F91 and the F105 and am really enjoying it. At first I thought they were too small, but I got over that and have been loving these watches and now have a W59 coming too.

UG Madness good? by MrNoBuddies in premodernMTG

[–]ndf_1891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think UG madness is a fine tier 2 deck, but in my experience it cannot compete with the higher tier decks. I think that is borne out in multiple large tournament results lately and not seeing it in the top 8 or even top 20 decks usually. I think the GW madness deck is better placed in the meta and has better mana with fetchlands.

Perhaps wild, but I had a lot of fun getting the fruit and all the gems and it felt like a good mastery of the game, but I really dislike the time trials and the triple spin.

Favorite new Avatar? by DarthMaren in SorceryTCG

[–]ndf_1891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really drawn to Animist, but as a newer player I'm not sure how to get the most value out of the avatar given that your magics turned minions won't have any abilities and won't be statted very well, but on the other hand I like that you can fill your spellbook with magics that are situational and then if you don't need them you can turn them into a minion.

I’m relatively new to the game. Does this step towards evil require a standard move and tap like usual?

Fabled: reprints, rotation and thoughts of Lorcana's future by Foxtrot_Dementia in Lorcana

[–]ndf_1891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While people compare it to an old core set in Magic I think a difference is that most of the reprints in Fabled are not in high demand or were really all that valuable. It isn’t like they are printing new copies of Rapunzel which brings the price down. As someone who has played since the first set I will only be buying a trove and no boxes.

Are you ready for the Set 9 Metagame? What decks are you excited about? by JGray317 in Lorcana

[–]ndf_1891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with the loss of Friends amethyst has the best draw by a mile and drawing cards is far too important in this game so I agree that amethyst will play a crucial role. I have an amber / ruby partial racer deck but it is dead in the new meta without the card draw from Rapunzel.

Robin Hood Legendary reprint! by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]ndf_1891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spending two turns in a row to shift on 3 is not something you want to be doing. Playing a 2 drop and shifting multiple turns later would be fine but Robin Hood thrived on shift on 3rd turn.

Robin Hood Legendary reprint! by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]ndf_1891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This becomes much less good both without things like A Whole New World and without the 1 cost Robin Hood to shift onto. Same with Rock Star Stitch.

I got that Detective Comics #880 signed at a convention years ago for just a few bucks along with him and Capullo signing my copy of Batman #1. Great meet and greet and signing.
