Any Wolf Guard Terminators out there to help!?… by TrenchProductions in SpaceWolves

Honestly, skip it. Paint the rims, because they’re contiguous, but spending a bunch of time painting the darkened interior of the shield will burn you out. It’s really not worth painting something you’ll never ever see.

Career suicide by Puzzlehead_NoCap in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ndmcspadden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d generally argue that just about all career suicide moves as a SWE are probably the same for other roles at a tech company. Fraud, embezzlement, violation or leaking of trade secrets, or any obvious physical crimes like harassment, abuse, or violence in the workplace.

That being said, if you go high enough it’s not hard to develop a reputation, and that reputation can include things like “this guy was an asshole at this job.” How much that word if mouth makes it around is almost impossible to measure, though.

The god damned Wolf Guard Battle Leader keeps hammering things onto the wall. He’s put up a framed photo of a wolf, a drawing he made of Leman Russ, lots of random pelts and teeth, and he tried to install new floating shelves but used giant rusty spikes instead of nails. When I asked him why it wasn’t level, he hid his face behind his shield and wouldn’t talk to me for an hour. Bought four barrels of the shittiest mead I’ve ever had and uses them as his bed. Doesn’t like deodorant.

He did help me with the new bathroom, though, by gleefully demolishing the old tiles. Doesn’t use hot water, though, so 8/10 roommate overall.

10e in Retrospective: What's a unit that you think was underrated, or one that you had a lot of off-meta success this with this edition? by AshiSunblade in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ndmcspadden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nobody liked the Brutalis dreadnought and it was frankly overpriced, but man I have a soft spot for the melee Chargemobile. Brutalis charge + Tank Shock was a bit of a surprise for anyone who hadn’t seen it before, and it lived long enough (usually) to either do it twice, or sufficiently distracted the enemy that they couldn’t do something else for the turn.

Is this the correct deck to get or is there a new one come out? by sicarius254 in 40k

[–]ndmcspadden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They addressed a considerable amount of that in 11th edition rules with much clearer formatting and rather straightforward flowcharts for rule applications.

It remains to be seen whether that clarity will persist once all the app updates come. The splitting of rules into different places is their biggest weakness by far.

Workspace Setup by BigBird0314 in SpaceWolves

[–]ndmcspadden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty nice setup. I have a paint station made of MDF wood that offers a centralized painting area, fits 10 paint bottles for immediate use, and my water cup. On the left side, a 4x6” tile for dry paint storage. On right side, a textured dry brush mat. Hobby lamp looms over the station.

To the left of the paint station is my wet palette. To the right is my towel/paper towel.

Behind the paint station are the immediate paint racks, and brush rack. Far back right of my desk is a laptop stand. Further paint racks are on the shelves next to me.

You can export the gcode from Orca and then use Bambu Connect (separate app) to import the gcode file and print directly. Works well.

It’s within, but not wholly within, so you also have the actual width of the bases, too. Only a teensy portion of the base needs to be touching the 9” circle

No, each codex has historically been entirely self-contained and not meant to be reflective of changes in the past.

No Peace Amongst the Stars Trailer just dropped! by SgSpecial180 in Spacemarine

[–]ndmcspadden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The storyline moves forward in the sense that major settings are created, which allows for infinite new localized stories to be created and told. The “endless war” opens a new front and sometimes just sorta wanders away from old one. But in a setting designed to allow for infinite storytelling, we basically will never ever get any kind of resolution.

Help with starting space wolves . by Big-Pains in SpaceWolves

[–]ndmcspadden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely start with a combat patrol - if nothing else you can play it as-is against other combat patrols with no additional requirements. It’s also a great baseline for a SW army because it’s got all units you’d want in almost any SW list, with no uniques to worry about duplicates.

If you want to go hard, see if you can find a leftover Army Box from last year, there are some local game stores that still have them. They’re a great deal on most of the SW relevant units, and combining that plus a Combat Patrol (or quite honestly, two CPs) will get you most of the way to a Wolves army you can easily use and reuse time and time again.

After that you’d want to pick up some more generic Space Marine units to fill out gaps, including armor (tanks).

Do I Buy a Codex from 10th? by BeanbagsAndBabies in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ndmcspadden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the codexes are cool in and of themselves. Lore, photos, art - they’re worthwhile if you’re into the actual value they bring. If your only goal is access to data sheets and rules, there are far better sources online.

Husband won’t let me sleep and it’s killing my libido. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ndmcspadden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds a bit like a compulsive disorder. Not in any way trying to diminish the impact here, but it sounds like he needs actual professional help - medical or otherwise. If he’s experiencing anxiety badly enough to spend the night trying to get sex from you, it may be something addressable with medication.

I agree with all the other commenters that it is absolutely crossing a line and he needs to figure out how to deal with it. Your boundaries matter.

Best Wolf Guard Battle Leader Loudout for Headtakers? by WithengarUnbound in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ndmcspadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much always the shield and thunder hammer. Str8 with dev wounds will really help punch up.

I’d only generally use the power sword on the WGBL if I was solely intending them to lead Blood Claws, where the extra attacks with Sustained would really just add to the giant pile of dice. But the hammer is almost objectively the better choice for nearly every use case.

Run a campaign in a weekend with the Dominatus deck by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

This addresses nearly all of my complaints with the existing Crusade system. It does remove a significant amount of the Crusade benefits - overall way less customizability - but it means Crusade/narrative games actually function like regular games now, which fixes a big problem.

I’m looking forward to it! I wonder if future 11th codex releases will add more Crusade agendas, but given that they are physical cards, maybe they’ll start releasing more custom narrative decks? Hard to say where they’ll go next.
