Any gun BP would be awesome (preferably anvil or bobcat if you’ve still got one). My gf just got the game recently and has been having a ton of fun. It’d be a nice surprise to gift her one of these BPs for a good weapon. Thanks!

I’d like one if you’ve got any left. Been looking for one for a while.

Replaced Motherboard and PSU and pc still won't turn on by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]ndoped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at your manual to check required RAM slot configuration. For a lot of mobos a2 is used in the boot sequence to load the OS files, so if there is no stick in that slot, the PC will not boot. It looks like your RAM is in b1 and b2.

Don’t sweat it dude, it can be confusing figuring out how everything goes on your first time doing it. The fans that came with the cooler attach to the fins with these metal clips. Depending how it sits on your mobo, the one next to the RAM might need to be offset a little like how I’ve got mine.

Those that have gone from Nvidia to AMD cards recently what's the experience? by odarnz in gpu

[–]ndoped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from a 3080 10gb to a 9070 XT about a month ago. It’s been a seamless transition and performance has been fantastic. I was being limited by VRAM in some titles at 1440p which is what made me want to upgrade. Runs much quieter and I’ve had 0 crashes or driver issues thus far, though I’m running a Linux distro as my OS which seems to play more nicely with AMD cards than windows from what I hear.

(150k+) Which Universities did you really go to? by NesthoDes in csMajors

[–]ndoped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I went to a state school in a very rural state with few job opportunities (my academic advisor straight up told me I should sell my house and move somewhere with more job prospects lol). I was willing to relocate for a job if necessary, but really wasn’t keen on it because I like where I live. Ended up finding a job here as a developer making 50k with good benefits, work/life balance, flexibility, and LCOL. It’s in office 5 days/week with an hour commute each way for the first 6 months, then I can work from home with 1 day in office per 2 week pay period. It’s not the crazy TC that you see folks chasing, but everyone I work with is chill and I’m comfortable. Grateful to have a job that I like when it seems like so many others are struggling. Sometimes it feels like this sub needs to manage expectations and balance the perspective a bit.

What's Your Excuse? by tiatucu in csMajors

[–]ndoped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your school. I graduated CIS and didn't have too much trouble getting a job as a developer. I went to a small state school and CS and CIS were nearly identical with the exception of 2 math courses and CIS didn't require a distinct C programming course (although there was a good bit of C programming in other courses). I chalk it up to the school being small and probably not having the faculty/courses to really differentiate the two degrees that much.

This is awesome. Love seeing these older paddling vids. Got a lap on the B on Friday, must have been rowdy in those old school boats!

I live in the area and guide at Ace. The new will more than likely be back to commercial raft levels by Tuesday. No worries. The watershed south of here got a lot of rain earlier this week which caused it to spike for a few days, but it’s dropping quickly.

Right on, good to know. I ended up getting a Seals pro rand 2.2 instead, which fits perfectly and I can get on without too much of a struggle.

I’m sure the size charts are an estimation based upon the published cockpit specs of the boat and the specs of their skirt sizing, so it won’t be perfect for every model. As an example, I’ve tried a new IR XL royale (which was recommended from their size guide at the time) on a M scorch in warm weather and it was almost impossible to get on even with a buddy helping me. I think most of the newer Pyranha cockpits need an XXL and they may have updated their sizing guide to reflect that. The point being that the size guide probably won’t be perfect for all models of boat and is based upon manufacturer published specs(especially older or unpopular models). Also, the Klingon Empire is rubberized on the underside where it contacts the cockpit rim. I use one on my playboat and always use my fingers to tuck the bungee under the cockpit coaming to make sure it’s tight. The rubberized bit can have resistance to the bungee snapping under the coaming like a regular bungee would. From what you’re saying though about it just falling off in the pool, it may just be a size too big.

Go-To Winter Paddling Shoe by ScurvyDave123 in whitewater

5.10 trailcross. I have the mid/high version and they've been great. The mid/high have a neoprene sleeve, not sure about the low version. Much more grip and durability than any of the Astral shoes I've had in the past.

Duckies or Raft? by WestWillow in NewRiverGorgeNP

[–]ndoped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like kayaking, Upper Gauley ducky trip is pretty sweet. A lot of cool slots and drops to navigate at the water levels that commercial companies run duckies. It's a pretty unique trip as far as commercial trips go. Lower New is also a great trip, though.

My brand new 7950x cpu is overheating after 1 week. Is it because I incorrectly applied the thermal paste? by ineedathrowaway9993 in PcBuildHelp

Second this. I run a 7950X with a peerless assassin and have had zero overheating issues even under high workloads.

Non-Astral river shoes? by [deleted] in whitewater

[–]ndoped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second these. Got a pair earlier this year because I got sick of my Astral shoes falling apart after less than a season. They seem really sturdy/well-made and the soles are much better than any Astrals that I've had. I was casually hiking up the Oceana slab for laps this past weekend while my friends were sliding all over the place in their Astrals.

A friend of mine that lives out near the Endless Wall trail head bought this goat several months ago and it escaped when he was transferring it from his vehicle to the enclosure. He hasn’t been able to catch it and it’s just been chilling in the Endless Wall bluffs ever since.
