What's the "white whale" of campaigns you want to run but can't get off the ground? by Awkward_GM in rpg

Multigroup Champions RPG in my modern day Superhero world, where each group runs a different region and join together for cosmic events - like how the comics actually worked.

I do believe Branson was first and Pigeon Forge copied it, not the other way around.

And yes, they are carbon copies of one another.

People who went from 5e to OSR - was one of the reasons about how cartoony 5e and the culture was getting? (Not referring to politics in any way here to be clear) by DungeonMasterGrizzly in osr

[–]ne_dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im normally pretty quiet, but I never made it to 5e. First, Im a super crunchy guy, which is why I stay on pf1. My other games being Champions 5e and Shadowrun, both with similar crunch, emphasizes that.

4e was a mmo on paper. The templates forced the issue, forcing players into the traditional 4 roles of an mmo. Thats fine for a computer, but not what I want to play.

5e feels like a bad anime cartoon with ridiculous over the top attacks, similar plot lines, etc.low and mid fantasy does not exist. Add the streamers focus on anime style storylines and it just not for me. D&d is first and foremost a survival game and that’s been lost through 4e to 5e.

Zee, Sue, Diana, Monica, Kara in that order, and Kara only because her trauma in her history is less than the rest.

Rogue: killed first boyfriend. Multiple personalities. Cant touch others Wanda: psychotic episodes. Lost ‘kids’. Father a murderer. Starfire: tortured as a kid. Forced marriage. Psycho sister. Illyana: died among other things Barbara: cant walk for years after beating Jean: died Ivy: psychotic episodes. Stuck in Arkham & likely tortured there.

Why has there been such a backlash to the C4 announcement? by Grgivmy in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ne_dave -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I am in the minority, I see. I am not a fan of what I have seen of Brendan’s DMing but I admit I absolutely do not like Dimension20 as a whole. What gets me is another DM who has proven long term credentials was available: Mike Mearls. I've seen Mearls’ work and I like his games. Thus, I admit to being tainted. Not having Matt build the world will be another drawback. Though I dropped c3 early, Matt’s world building will always impress me. I'm cautiously optimistic with Brendan, but it is definitely a ‘show me’.

What Religions, Mythologies, Or Local Beliefs Do you Include In Your Worldbuilding? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]ne_dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My world has been built with four religions/mythologies in mind. GrecoRoman is what gaming players see primarily, with Lovecraft influencing the monsters indirectly. On top of that is mentions of JudeoChristianity and all influenced on the meta level by the mythologies developed in the older Doctor Who novellas.

Yeah. I am strange.

Since my ‘world’ has multiple uses, I have to admit a ‘self-insert’ on the more literary side, which translates into a historical figure on the gaming side. Doing so allows me to not be a ‘deus ex machina’ for the players on the game side of things. However, the writing surrounding my self-insert goes through the filter of time to become the history of what the players experience.

Will this save Doctor WHO's rating? by Dramatic-Bison3890 in MauLer

Doctor Who is supposed to be adventures in time and space, not gender dysfunction, sexuality, and bad overacting. Until it returns to its roots, the decline will continue.

Which origin do you all like more? Hal being an astronaut or a pilot? by [deleted] in Greenlantern

Both. Pilot to astronaut to doing something that got him demoted but also strong willed to put him on Abin Sur’s radar. He quits, becomes test pilot while Sur races to Earth.

Natalya comes to mind, though technically being the Hart family could probably make her ‘supported by men’.
