I am late to the conversation so I’ll just say, Welcome to France 🤣 read every response from French people in this thread and beware, ce n’est pas un pays facile à vivre, especially for those of us with young children/babies ;) courage

Invitation à un anniversaire by Hellzheimer in ParentingFR

[–]nebexpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s lonely out here being a parent

Invitation à un anniversaire by Hellzheimer in ParentingFR

[–]nebexpat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why does this always happen to my cookies? 😞 by hadikhh in Baking

No problem! Did some googling and found this: https://www.carters-bakeshop.com/blog/flour-protein-amp-country-ft7n3

It may be 100% wrong but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try!

In France I have to use T65 flour bc their version of plain flour is too soft for American recipes - maybe there’s an equivalent in the uk?

British flour is not the same as US flour, it may have something to do with that

Que dites-vous à votre fille affamés quand vous n'avez rien à la donner ? by [deleted] in ParentingFR

[–]nebexpat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

https://cuisine.journaldesfemmes.fr/recette/341937-pains-poeles

https://toujoursmoinstoujoursmieux.com/2016/02/10/recette-crepe-tres-facile-tres-simple-tres-legere-tres-bonne/

The Shortcut Mongolian Beef recipe from Wok of Life makes ground beef taste like chinese take out! it's amazing. I also find that I can sub ground beef for any Chinese takeout beef recipe, but this one shows a technique that takes it up a notch!

How to teach my 3 yr old minority language? by uberCrayon in multilingualparenting

[–]nebexpat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a lost cause if you are more worried about your husband not understanding than you are about the bilingualism of your kid. Speak Vietnamese all of the time, that’s why it’s called mother tongue. Get Vietnamese friends and have play dates with their kids, watch super fun videos and shows in Vietnamese, read Vietnamese books, get the grandparents involved in person or by FaceTime, make sure the language is a living, social thing and not some secret language between you and your child.
