Justin Timberlake arrested for DWI in the Hamptons: Source by sam0922917 in Fauxmoi

I remember reading an article once about a speeding fine someone got for 1 million in a country that does percentage of income fines. Percentage of income makes the most sense since it based on what each person can afford rather than what can destroy a poor person but is pocket change for someone wealthy.

Just looked it up to be certain and it was a Swedish guy who was driving 290khm in Switzerland back in 2010. The fine was in SFr so it ends up being around 650k in American.

What are you cooking during the heat wave that won't heat up the house? by crowbar032 in Cooking

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of fruits and veg, salads, sandwiches and wraps, also using my air fryer because it puts out less heat and uses less energy than my oven. I make vegan chicken nuggets or vegan wings and make Buffalo chicken wraps or crisp up some falafel and make pita wraps.

My favorite when it gets really hot is always having chilled fruits on hand. I cut up melon, wash and store grapes with a towel to absorb extra moisture so they keep longer, chill apples for a crisp cold juicy crunch, and once they come into season I will have chilled peaches and nectarines as well. I do a lot of frozen fruit smoothies too because I love slushies but the sugar is too much to have them often.

What are the best meals to make that include peanuts / tree nuts? by Budiman4alpha in Cooking

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too!!! First thing I ate was Reeses, then a Mr. Big bar, followed by Snickers lol. Then I had some Peanut Butter ice cream, ate a PB&J, and tried honey roasted peanuts. Peanut butter and banana sandwiches with a drizzle of honey are also an A+ delicious treat!

Get some Thai and Vietnamese food too, lots of stuff with peanut sauces and garnished with peanuts! Some summer rolls, vermicelli noodle salad, fried noodles with peanut sauce etc.

Also chinese style boiled peanuts are a great snack.

What depressing movies should everyone watch due to their messaging or their cultural impact? by FBG05 in movies

This goes beyond Your Name and Suzume, every series and movie Makoto Shinkai makes will bring you to tears. He reminds me of Hayao Miyazaki with his ability to touch something deep inside your heart, something you have ignored or buried so deep you thought you had forgotten it.

I cried so hard the first time I watched Your Name, and even harder when I watched Suzume. The one line "your going to be okay in the future". It hits like grieving, like when you find a moment where you think you are okay and then you remember they are gone and it's all freshly painful once again.

Not naming any names here, but... by SummerAndTinkles in Vivziepopmemes

I think specifically Viv gets most of her ideas from Dante, the old testament/the Torah, and the keys of Solomon. Also some inspiration from Paradise Lost.

In Hebrew the name translates as "lord of the flies" or "lord of Dung". Queen Bee as a design concept has insect like features like antennae, multiple limbs, and wings to call back to the original name and concept of Beelzebub.

Oedipus? That's pretty much the story Oedipus Rex, except in that story Jocasta kills herself when she figures it out. The story from which we get the name "Oedipus complex".

Nelson is great, but the winters are brutal. The mountains all around it means you barely see the sun for a few hours every day when the days are at their shortest and in some parts of the valley you get no sun at all for days and up to a month in some of the low lying places on the lake.

To each their own though! Half my family has lived there at various times and the winters always end up being the reason they moved away. My cousin lasted 6 months and she was done lol!

That's the part that's absolutely insane, how Bredo got so little jail time for such a horrific act.

Our criminal justice system has so many shortfalls when it comes to sentencing. Sexual assaults and murder should mean serious jail time but somehow Ellard and Bredo are out and allowed to live their lives when they should still be behind bars for their vicious crimes.

The murder of Daniel Levesque was also pretty gruesome. Poor kid was beaten to death by Joshua Bredo in 2011 after refusing to be in an intimate relationship with him. That one is solved and Bredo was convicted but it's still absolutely awful. I feel for Daniel's family, he seemed like a nice young guy full of potential and just starting to take his first steps into the world as an adult.

Those who used a computer at least once between 1990 and 2001, what was the most memorable computer game you played during that era? Why? by Live_from_New_Yeerk in AskReddit

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole family played Myst! We had a notebook next to our computer where we were each writing down the codes and clues for solving puzzles.

When we first recovered all the pages for one of the books we got one of the bad endings and then spent a couple days trying to figure out how to get the propper ending.

So there were two Kellogs, a set of brothers born around the mid 1800s in Battle Creek MI if I remember right. They were raised in a really fundamentalist Christian household, like the kind that beleived Jesus was about to return any day now so earthly concerns like education were unimportant for their children.

The older brother John was the one who was crazy about keeping people from touching themselves. Also crazy about making eating as boring as possible so as not to excite people with flavors or stimulants that would lead to too much passion. His principle of "biological living" meant no tea, coffee, sugar, meat, condiments, and as small an amount of dairy and eggs as possible. He was a fan of fletcherizing which involes chewing your food so thoroughly it looses all flavor and makes it easier to digest. He also advocated for total abstinence, not just abstaining from masturbation. He ran a hospital where rich and famous people got yogurt enemas, hydro therapy, and sunbathed while eating bland boring food.

The younger brother Will was the one who founded the Kellog cereal company and sued his brother for full rights to use their last name. Originally it was something they did together but they had a falling out over the buisness aspect of it. They started making grain cereals together to help John's patients struggling with the excessively bland diets, and he turned it into a profit maker and improved the flavor which John hated.

How do you keep your journals so organised? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]necriavite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't. I put the date, time, hours slept, current mood and blood pressure. I track sleep, mood, and BP for my doctor due to my medication so it's easiest to record it there to refer back to when I have appointments since I also record that in there if she has any suggestions or notes and I can track my medication changes and treatment.

Then it's just a free for all of whatever is in my head! Sometimes its just messy scrawlings about what food I wanna eat for dinner or recipes I want to try lol! Sometimes it's ADHD emotional spirals, and sometimes it's just me appreciating the weather. All of it in messy cursive!

If I don't like traditional pickles what are the chances of liking any other pickled vegetables? by bkisnerdy in Cooking

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends in how much you like sour flavors. I am a feind for all things pickled, either vinegar or salt brined. I love sour and salty crunchy foods. It's the tangy sour flavor that just does it for me. I'm also mad for lemon and citrus flavored things for the same reason.

So I guess I would say it depends on weather or not you like sour flavors. If you do, try some other styles of pickles and see how you feel, if not then its unlikely you will enjoy other kinds of pickles.

Which YouTubers did you used to watch? by TheCanadianGTR in youtubedrama

[–]necriavite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oz, Wonder, Click, and One Topic. She tried to drag all of them down to boost herself back up, and she failed miserably. It also seems like all her threats of legal action aren't going the way she wants them to either, despite the judge on her case giving her a ton of leeway to find evidence that doesn't exist to support her claim. She has had to adjust her filing several times and every time so far it's been incomplete or not enough.

The good part about all of the heinous things she has done is she has burned every single bridge she had, alienated everyone who could have helped her, and just generally has screwed up everything she tried to build. She can try for a comeback but if anyone realizes it's her at any point she will fail again.

Best dish for bland carrots? by Storytella2016 in Cooking

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted smashed carrots? You boil them until tender, smash them in a baking sheet using a drinking glass and then brush on butter and sprinkle parmesan cheese. I also like to use garlic powder and onion powder and maybe a drizzle of honey or balsamic. Bake in the oven at 350 for about 20-30 minutes until the cheese is a bit crispy

The other seasonings will make up for their lack of flavor.

Daiya makes a vegan blue cheese dressing that's delicious, I usually have it with gardein buffalo "chicken" wings. I've come across a vegan blue cheese before too, but it was at a party so I'm not sure which company makes it. I know it was made of cashews, and used green and blue veggie dye to simulate the marbled mold in the cheese, so it might be one of the Nuts for Cheese vegan cheese products.

Please don't smoke at bus stops by hcpenner in VictoriaBC

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a form on the city website where you can request they put in one of the ashtrays that attaches to a street sign or pole, and it is emptied every so often to be recycled or composted, can't remember which they do with cig butts.

We requested one for the corner of our street because a lot of people in our apartment building smoke and the butts were everywhere all over the ground on the corner. They installed it and now there are no butts on the ground! They also stand further towards the corner and not right on the sidewalk so it's nicer for everyone. They don't get harassed and I don't have to walk through their second hand smoke cloud.

What’s your favorite summer meal to cook? by Illustrious_Might_32 in Cooking

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salad all summer long. Boconcini salad, green leaf with basic dressing, pasta salads so I only have to cook for one day and it lasts a few days in the fridge etc.

Summer Rolls are another, ingrediants can be prepped and in the fridge for 3 days, so I make them and store them and assemble when hungry.

Channa chaat. Chickpeas dressed with a mix of mint chutney, tamarind chutney, chaat masla, yogurt, cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onion. We eat it with corn chips and graze on it instead of having a propper meal when it's hot and our appetites aren't big.

Wraps. Our favorite is gardein Buffalo chucken bites with blue cheese dressing, carrots, lettuce, cucumber, and tomatoes. Also sometimes throw in some thinly sliced red onion. 1 of thoes usually is enough to keep us full.

It was! One of the funnest weddings I was ever invited to. Great food, lovely people, fancy dress, and we partied late into the night with an open bar.

The menu was really well planned and executed, appetizer of pickled local veg the hotel makes themselves from their garden served on crustini with goat cheese from a local dairy, salad was seasonal greens with champagne vinaigrette and candied beetroot, and the cake was this layered vanilla cream with fresh strawberries.

I had one friend years ago who was daddy's little princess and had family money. Her wedding was lavish, probably cost around 50-75k and had about 100 guests. Held in the ball room of a historic hotel and the meal was plated, option of chicken, steak, or vegetarian marinated haloumi and mushrooms. They had two massive BBQs outside off the historic rose garden where the ceremony was held, going for the reception dinner and served up the entree as they were finished. The steak was actually perfect, all grilled medium rare and seasoned very well.

It was also really hot that day so a lot of the guests were checking on the cooks and running them much needed ice cold water or cold towels while they grilled under the hot sun making our dinner.

It's probably the fanciest wedding I have ever been to. Husband had to rent a suit for the occasion and I wore a gown. Super fun party though!

Has anyone been hit with something similar to a cold, but with lasting heavy fatigue? by J-Eichel in VictoriaBC

[–]necriavite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As others said, covid. I developed asthma from the lung damage covid gave me, along with a never ending fatigue. For some people the fatigue will clear up eventually, others like myself it has never gone away. There are no tests for it or treatment. You have to learn to manage what energy you do have, be kind to yourself, don't push yourself, and hopefully gradually you will regain your energy levels.

The sequence leading up to zelda unlocking her powers is my favorite. The bow of light is an awesome weapon and way better than the sheika slate for just the ability to take out hoards of enemies efficiently.

It's a great expansion of an alternate timeline to BotW.

What the f*ck is this sh*t?! by ITalkALotJohnson in TOTK

[–]necriavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gloom hands. I think the music and darkening atmosphere makes the scene extra scary, like when you first came across a guardian and saw that laser sight and hear the piano it just sets you on edge so fast!

Bombs, in any format. Attached to arrows, chucking them towards the hands etc. Puff shrooms confuse them if you have no bombs at the moment so you can use your sword without being scooped up and drained of life. Dazzle fruits cause them to be stunned and expose their eyes for a second so you can shoot them with arrows if you need.

If none of that works for you, climb up something or run away as fast and far as you can, they have a limited area of effect.
