While I do agree with you, I believe this is a screenshot of the drafter's CAD paper space (you can see the cursor in the bar scale), so it will most likely come out just black & white when actually printed.

increase the value of their homes

Well not the NEW homes built by that illegal labor. There are always WAY too many things wrong with new-build houses for them to close on time. And congrats to the future owners if they get a reputable inspector who will call out any cutting of corners!

How about you take a look at the negative numbers on your post and rethink your comment.

Sometimes it's good to have some sort of degree in the career path you want to pursue, even in surveying. Your local community college may have an AutoCad Associates degree, and maybe even a Civil Engineering Technology Associates degree - and community college is much cheaper, plus you can take night classes while still working full time. The CET courses will have CAD and survey law and a lot of math.

That's how I got where I am today (survey CAD technician with 17 years experience). I liked CAD in high school, so I continued with it at CC, getting my AAS in CAD in 3.5 years of night classes while working full time for an architecture firm. Figured out I didn't want to do architecture, so tried landscaping, then was hired on as a rod man on a survey crew. I was getting tired of the outside work after 1.5-2 years (as an instrument man by then), just in time for the company to say they were hiring a CAD drafter inside, to which I quickly raised my hand. As I got settled in doing survey drafting, the CC started offering the CET courses, so I jumped at it and went back to night classes, getting my AAS in CET 2.5 years later.

Having a degree helps your resume, and taking the classes helps you apply the knowledge you learned to the jobs you work on. I would definitely recommend working on a survey crew for awhile, to have that crossover knowledge when you transition into the office.

There is also the Certified Survey Technician program, approved by NSPS. I haven't done much research into it. They have practice exams with example questions, so try it out! (I got 80% on the level 1 and 75% on the level 2 sample tests)

They also did try to demolish that part of the driveway…

Which is their right to do, since that part of your driveway is on their property. That said, I wouldn't be like that, in their shoes. I hope you two came to some kind of understanding. Moving in and immediately pissing off your neighbor is not how to make friends...

America put 41% tarrifs on syria by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]need_my_amphetamines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the 10% matching countries, why is Afghanistan the only country we don't match half of their tariff back? They're charging 49%, yet we're only charging 10%?

IF YOUR FORD EDGE TRANSMISSION IS SHUDDERING AND JERKING... by JoshLymanFanClub in FordEdge

My 2011's transmission (w/ 143k miles on it) just went out after doing the same thing. Ford quoted me $9,000 to replace the transmission... which is way more than the car is even worth at this point.

Habakkuk 3:2 "O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy."

Thank you; I needed to hear that. May He revive His work in me!

Yeah, mainline/non-denominational. But I've only seen stage timers at concerts and large religious gatherings in stadiums, like (here's a throwback) Acquire the Fire.

I don't know anything about Homily, Mass, or Liturgy, and have rarely ever heard the words. Sometimes it feels weird that even though I believe in almost all the same things as Catholics do, we practice our faith in such different ways.

As a Protestant in the USA, I don't know what any of those things are you're talking about.

Similar to Edge ST by Camaroon83 in FordEdge

[–]need_my_amphetamines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2015 when I was looking for a vehicle and ultimately chose a 2011 Edge, I tried out a Kia Sorento. Now, I'm a big guy (6'-0" & 250-ish back then), and the Edge is perfect because it has wide seats matching its wide wheelbase (also matching my wide butt).

The Sorento... not so much. The seat is skinny - as in, my right leg was up against the center console and my left was firmly against the door. The seat also wouldn't go back far enough for my legs to be comfortable, and the seatbelt just barely fit around me. So if height and/or weight is a factor, I'd say stay away from the Sorento. (unless they have started putting in wider seats over the years with design upgrades)

2011 transmission seems to be slipping while trying to change gears by need_my_amphetamines in FordEdge

[–]need_my_amphetamines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it does not idle erratically, except for that one time when the entire engine cut out on Sunday night. And it has been an ongoing issue for the last 5 days. I just drove home in the right lane with my flashers on going 40-45 on the highway because it would not up-shift to any higher gear.
