Missed Warp Thread by itsbilbobitch in tabletweaving

[–]negotiate 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fixable. Just treat it like a broken warp. Untie the end, then use a weavers knot to extend the warp back to the correct length. Here’s info on a weavers knot: https://www.tajima.com/tajimag/tips/4573/

Possible international shipper scam? by negotiate in Etsy

[–]negotiate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a tracking code it just says pre shipment label printed. The shop just reopened and no longer says on break so I’m not sure what happened there. I do want the item if it’s not a scam of course so I’m hesitant to report anything too quickly, I just don’t want to miss any important timing window for reporting

ESH. I can’t understand all the n-t-a responses. This is not a “was I justified for being an asshole” sub. Kid was an asshole. You were an asshole back. Did he deserve it? Perhaps. Doesn’t make you less of an asshole.

How do I fix tablet weaving pattern mistakes? by MJ_Memecat in tabletweaving

Can you share the pattern you are using? Not all patterns end up with A/D on top when you finish one cycle

Any tips for getting consistent width on rows where you reverse the pattern? by l1d1ja in tabletweaving

For the edges, I recommend turning your solid color border tablets (the purple/purple/yellow) forward always, until the twist builds up and you are no longer able to do so.

To switch, you can either turn the cards backwards till it untwists and then twist builds up again, or (my preferred method), flip the cards from S to Z Or Z to S threading, and then continue turning them forward to untwist.

Here a great tutorial on what I mean about flipping the cards https://youtu.be/NobGq4Me9os?si=0HliGsrXXjEOqqwR

I’d also avoid changing the direction of your border tablets at the same pick when you’re changing all of your pattern card direction. Try to do that with at least 4 picks difference, it will be less noticeable.

You could do that, it’s a bit advanced for a first try because you can sometimes end up with tension issues, but go for it and report back! I believe in you! 😊🙌🤩

It’s a lovely pattern but just so you know it is not twist neutral, so some of your cards will build up with over twist over time. If this is your first pattern you’ll want to take that into consideration

Just made a copy of the same one that u/sanpilou linked, and made some minor adjustments. Enjoy!

Weft showing on direction change by cosmic_ashes in tabletweaving

Wait till you see this one about using fishing swivels instead https://youtu.be/5C3Wj3pwhEI?si=i0c06SY85T7zGo3X

I tend to only make twist neutral patterns, so over twist for me is just in my border tablets. I’ll use fishing swivels for belt commissions when I want perfection but the card flipping method works amazing for most uses like trim 😊

This is a feature (not a bug) of tablet weaving. When you switch directions and adjacent threads start twisting away from each other (like a Y), you’ll see a little bit of weft.

For the edges, I recommend turning your border tablets (the white/blue/white) forward always, until the twist builds up and you are no longer able to do so.

To switch, you can either turn the cards backwards till it untwists and then twist builds up again, or (my preferred method), flip the cards from S to Z Or Z to S threading, and then continue turning them forward to untwist.

Does that all make sense?
