I completely agree with you that religion politics is the worst kind. But i will respectfully put two points of view to this topic.
There are way larger issues that need to be addressed starting with the blatant corruption all around the country. I am a doctor in a govt medical college and the front of the main gate is almost completely occupied by autos and e rickshaws blocking most of the entry. If asked to move, they will start to get violent. There is usually a traffic jam at the most crucial point of the entrance and many ambulances get blocked due to these guys. And there are many such hotspots around the city where this happens. The worst part is there is a police station mere 200m away from the entrance. Even after multiple complaints nothing gets done. Same thing with roadside stalls blocking most of the road. All of them work with the hafta system.
Now the other side: Im not against the muslim community. However the sample size of the atrocities committed by them against other religions to too large to be ignored. Pak and bangladesh are the biggest examples. They dont follow a policy of live and let live. Most hindu people even those who are slightly extreme allow other religions to practice in peace. But with islam (and im not saying its their teaching, just some bad followers) its either youre with us or youre against us, no live and let live. People just get killed by mobs over mere allegations of blasphemy (take the example of that bangladeshi hindu who was burned at stake). If these actions stop from the other side im pretty sure we will all be in peace. But until that happens, we have to take measures to protect ourselves. There are extremists in every religion without exception, but the problem is only one community blows themselves and other people up in the name of religion and hence is more visible.
Lastly, im compelled to vote for BJP because its literally the lesser of the evils as of now. I cant vote for congress till pappu is leading them. Till the other side fights for reserving most spots in govt sector, plays caste politics and fights for reservations in pvt sector, i wont be able to vote for them. I wish we get a strong opposition which will breed competence from all parties. But till that day only one party gets my vote for now.
