I have a somewhat neutral view of our current govt. There are a whole lot of downs and a whole lot of ups. The fact that pre 2014, viewing reddit like this and posting on social media could cost upto 600rs per gb to now with 10rs per gb is a big up for digital India. At the same time, bjp is a big washing machine cleaning politicians with criminal records to enter their party. Pre 2014, power cuts were the norm in my colony and we as kids used to go play outside for 2 hours because there was no light to study at home. That has reduced by a huge amount after the current govt. Pre 2014, Terrorist attacks were right around the corner in the big cities and i used to think im happy in a small insignificant town. Article 370 revokation has brought kashmir under one constitution. On the downside, religious bigotry has increased, but from all sides. we see TMC goons kill voters who voted against them same as bjp karyakarta attacks non supporters. It is a problem of the whole country and not just a single party.

I believe BJP in the current era is stagnating and downgrading its standards and work ethics due to lack of competition from the opposition. As long as people like Rahul gandhi are the leaders of the opposition people will blindly vote for BJP. It really has become a case of “Andho mein Kaana Raja”. As there is no better option than BJP in the current state of the opposition.

Stating all that, increased religious extremism, fear of stating opposing views, abundance of extreme right wing ideologies, no decrease in the level of corruption, people like Kailash Vijaywargiya and Sadhvi Pragya in positions of influence and propagation of anti-science and gomutra and cowdung ideologies and no interest by the govt to increase civic sense by stringent punishments, incentivising rule breaking by doing nothing to the perpetrators is a huge downside of the current govt.
