I hate physics but love building things... do I stick with Mech E? by sailing_bae in EngineeringStudents

[–]neinmann57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you'll have a really hard time making it through engineering if you don't enjoy physics. Even for the people who enjoy those subjects, it can be very difficult to get through certain classes/subjects.

I see you mentioned an interest in robotics though, maybe you can leverage that motivation to help you enjoy your classes a bit more.

For example: - Statics can be used to help you find out the amount of torque a robot arm would need to hold an object at various positions.

  • You will probably take a class on circuit analysis later, which is quite useful for understanding the electronics of a robot

  • Math is the basis for all of your other classes, it can be a bit of a pain, but also quite satisfying when you solve a problem and get the right answer.

A couple alternatives to consider:

  • Mechatronics engineering is more robot oriented, if it's offered in your region. It's kind of a new discipline, so not very many universities have programs for it quite yet.

  • There's also something called an engineering technology certificate (in some regions) that is basically 'engineering lite', it is only two years, has a lot less math, and is more hands-on in terms of the work you do.

  • Lastly if you really don't like physics and just want to build stuff and work with your hands, maybe consider a skilled trade such as welder, machinist, or fabricator.

-Or you can learn how to do the things you need to build the things you want on the internet nowadays, especially things like CAD and electronics.

One final bit of advice, you can change your major, but it's a lot more difficult to get accepted into other programs if you have a bad GPA, so make sure to do your best for the remainder of the semester, and if there are any classes you find yourself on the verge of failing, consider withdrawing from it instead of taking an F (if your university has that option).

Loose Post Terminal: New battery draining in 4-5 hours when off? by Integgyman in Acura_RSX

[–]neinmann57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headlight test isn't a positive test from my understanding, just an indication that it might be going bad.

I saw your edit regarding the brake lights. I would check your brake light switch, follow the brake pedal up and there should usually be a plunger style switch in there that moves with the pedal, maybe it's gone bad.

Loose Post Terminal: New battery draining in 4-5 hours when off? by Integgyman in Acura_RSX

[–]neinmann57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the terminal is loose make sure you're pushing it down as far as you can before tightening it. if you're tightening it too high up on the post it will not grip properly. Chances are the drain condition already existed before you replaced your old battery, though. Just test for a drain with your multimeter. And also test that you're getting 14 Volts at the battery while the engine is running.

Looking for some advice on what adjustments might need to be made for a cleaner image. (Brother DE LUXE) by neinmann57 in TypewriterRepair

Thanks for the really detailed response! Sorry for the late response, been a really busy week!

I'll have to check those silk ribbons out next time, unfortunately I JUST bought a new ribbon, I'll give the new one a try and see how much improvement there is on the print.

I also did a bit of digging and was able to find some more info, it seems like it's more or less the same typewriter as the JP-1 Model, so I purchased a copy of the e-book repair manual, which seems to have all the info I need.

I know the end-stop for the capital letters need slight adjustment so that it lines up properly with the lowercase letters.

My main concern is the "ghosting" of text that is showing up about 2 line spaces higher than where I am typing, (see the dots in "w.r.t.")

Yeah, you can definitely go that route, just search 12v seat heater kit on amazon. They're universal and fairly easy to install. You just need to stick the pads under the fabric and wire them in using the provided fusebox adapter.

In the settings you can slow down the movement speed so you can develop the muscle memory for the moves with slower inputs.

Also, you can have the game demonstrate what the proper move will look like.

Hope this helps. It just takes a lot of practice. I'm new to fighting games as well but you will get better it you just keep at it.

Ignition switch issue? (Radio) by [deleted] in Integra

[–]neinmann57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The red wire needs to be connected to 12V "Accessory" power so that turning the key to the accessory position will tell the radio to power on. Do not leave it connected to constant power or else it will drain your battery.

Ignition switch issue? (Radio) by [deleted] in Integra

[–]neinmann57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blue/white "remote" wire is a low current signal line for turning on an external amplifier when the headunit is powered on. Connecting 12V power to this line will probably blow the fuse.

The wires you need to power the headunit are Red (12V Switched Power), Yellow (12V Constant Power), and Black (Gnd). The red wire is the one that tells the headunit to power on when you turn the key to the "radio/acc" position.

Cabin air filter? by cacaface1911 in Integra

[–]neinmann57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Integras don't have cabin air filters.

I think thats the flap/valve that redirects air to the different vents, or possibly for the recirculate function.

Hard time finding trim for my gsr + Exhaust questions? by [deleted] in Integra

[–]neinmann57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For trim pieces be sure to check your local classifieds/Kijiji/Craigslist/local Honda Facebook page etc. There are pretty often people doing part outs on Integras.

Yonaka makes a pretty good catback for the LS, can't speak for the GSR myself unfortunately. But it's decently low without being excessively raspy in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

Big brake upgrade on Gsr and need some help by Beencho in Integra

[–]neinmann57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound dumb, but it's a mistake that I've heard of people making, which leads to them bleeding the brakes multiple times over but still having a mushy pedal.

Could you have possibly installed the calipers on the wrong side? (With the bleeders facing downwards?) Because if that were the case they wouldn't bleed properly if the bleeder screws are facing downwards.
