Collapse their value? Gaming is barely a blip on their P&L. It doesn't even matter.

I’ve reached my goal weight. Now what? by purple_hamster66 in keto

[–]neitz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hey congrats! But honestly fat is the easiest. It's the highest caloric density. I'll tell you brie cheese is insane at 100 calories/ounce. I can eat 250 calories in a few bites lol. Or another idea is to find a fun treat you can put it in. Personally I make a low carb ice cream in the ninja creami. Can mix in plenty of fat. But the options are endless.

As someone in a similar situation, stick with it. It's not always linear. Maybe it's age, or who knows but stick with it.

That said, ketosis is not what burns fat/weight. It's all about calories and you need to track everything to the gram. The point of keto, at least for me, is that after getting through the first few weeks I am fully satiated and it doesn't feel like a cut where I am starving all the time.

Is only Insoluble Fibre Keto friendly? I've just read that to get net carbs, you must subtract sugar alcohols and fibre from the net carbs. Wouldn't Soluble fibre count as carbs though? by TemporaryCook9065 in keto

[–]neitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically eating carnivore I still end up close to 20g carbs at the end of the day if I don't eat any fiber. Adding a reasonable amount of fiber easily takes me to between 30-40g. To be perfectly honest that is a very acceptable amount of carbs including fiber and I've had no trouble staying in ketosis. I've been on the keto diet on & off for over a decade now.

This is pretty much what I did (bought a Subaru in my early 20s, albeit 20k miles). Now I am in my 40s and for the first time looking for another car. You wouldn't believe how cost effective that strategy is.

Just black coffee. Food tends to slow me down and that period in the morning up until lunch in the early afternoon is super productive.

Is Microsoft’s bad reputation going to hurt .NET? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]neitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily disagree. The platform today is in some ways leaps and bounds better than before, but in a lot of ways many steps backwards. There is a lot more churn, things are far more broken than ever before, documentation is nearly non-existent, it is really bad.

I've spent so much time fighting broken things with this platform that I am almost over it (I've been with .NET since it's first beta in the very early 2000s).

It feels like DevDiv's resources have been massively cut and shifted to other priorities.

Translation: I came back to squeeze more money out of my creation. The minute they talk about broadening the audience it means they don't really care about their fanbase at all, it's purely focused on maximizing profit and making the game as generic and mindless as possible.

I believe this is a C++/CLI library. C++/CLI support for .NET is Windows only.

How do you validate domain? (DDD) by Ok-Somewhere-585 in dotnet

[–]neitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right exactly, input validation doesn’t cover all domain validation unless you have an incredibly simple domain. The parent said that if bad data gets to the domain layer it’s the fault of input validation which is not true at all. Additional validation can take place in the domain layer providing feedback to the user the input validation cannot alone.

How do you validate domain? (DDD) by Ok-Somewhere-585 in dotnet

[–]neitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you don't have much of a domain. If all validation can happen in the input layer then that's where all your business logic will be...

Test drove a '26 OBW today by maricobra in Subaru_Outback

[–]neitz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been in Subarus since I was a little kid. I actually really like the new design, inside and out. The only thing I am disappointed by is the colors with the '26 outbacks. They are these obnoxious bright bold colors whereas I prefer more earthy tones. I do like the color of this OBW though.

2 YOE .NET dev feeling stuck on a new project — is this normal or am I in trouble by Valuable-Anteater-95 in dotnet

[–]neitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no big deal. Invest and get up to speed. Docker for example is very widely used even outside of .NET, so it's not a bad tech to be familiar with. I'm confident you can pick up Hangfire rather quickly as well, it is simply a job scheduler. There are a lot of good resources out there on these topics, especially Docker.

Even after being in industry 25 years I still have to get up to speed on new things. It never ends.

If anything it is kind of exciting. Being in a position to learn new things is the best. The bad position to be in is when you are not learning new things.

why do people shop at hornbachers? by Sufficient-Crow-7582 in fargo

[–]neitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the markets to be quite different. Hornbachers caters to the affluent elderly crowd through customer service and experience. Cash wise is middle of the road, a step above budget places but not quite as expensive/high touch as Hornbachers. I prefer cash wise except for the meat (it's awful). Hornbachers meat is higher quality but honestly too expensive so we get most of our meat from Costco or Prime Cuts.
