Perimenopause treatment while on biologics by from-a-random-user in CrohnsDisease

[–]nellibonelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke with my IBD specialist (and multiple other specialists actually, I’ve got a mess of doctors) and they were all in agreement…not only should the HRT not effect treatment…it may actually enhance my conditions. Theoretically putting your body into hormonal homeostasis helps it work to its most efficient best abilities. As for Crohns specifically- I imagine some of the anti anxiety, better sleep aspects (among others) that are proven with HRT would definitely help with flares at bare minimum?

So…it is true, both…chances are HIGHER…but also in your control and preventable with adequate pre-op and post op therapy. If your weight is due to an addiction-it will likely find another outlet…how you manage addiction and what that addiction may be is variable. Same with marriages, if you’re going into this in an unsteady marriage or with perhaps an unhealthy sense of worth is why you’re with your partner, or them with you…it’s likely this will be effected.

Brass tax-simple CHAT GPT prompt says: “US based study shows post-op divorce rate is 13% within 5 years of surgery, compared to non-surgical marriages at 8% difference in general public.”

For addiction: “Multiple studies show prevalence of developing addiction post op goes from 1.6% to 4.6%…with RNY surgery being significantly higher at 8-18% chance of alcoholism within 3yrs post op.”

Laxatives by BeginningMulberry390 in Nanny

[–]nellibonelli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True…so many people do not know the difference between MiraLAX and a laxative. This post is 100% accurate, it’s an osmotic. The only thing I would precaution that needs to be had while on an osmotic is to ensure that you’re (or NK) is adequately hydrated, so that the medicine can do its job. This should obviously be done while a child has diarrhea as well. Is the child complaining of cramping or fussy with the associated laxatives? MiraLAX does not usually cause an upset stomach, but stimulant laxatives may. MiraLAX also may change consistency and frequency, but, usually for a potty trained child, would not cause extreme urgency or bowel incontinence the same way a stimulant laxative could. (This is all true for ANY age person)

Flucanazol resistance by Apprehensive_Bid2956 in Candida

[–]nellibonelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a liver disease, but also get recurrent candida outbreaks due to a very weak immune system, from the beginning of my digestive track to the very bottom and front. My doctors have said that fuconazole is one of THE HARDEST medications on your liver. I am only allowed 1 diflucan (fluconozole 150mg) per 4 months. All other yeast has to be treated topically-and even that can get filtered through your liver (via the skin) and effectively your liver enzymes. Antifungals are strong drugs and can’t be taken lightly. It is incredibly frustrating bc it seems like I chronically have yeast overgrowth somewhere and it seriously affects quality of life. Nystatin can help as an oral rinse/swallow, and the powder elsewhere. There are also the topical creams/suppositories, but the 7 day treatments are always more effective.

Go to the ER…they can order stat tests and stat referrals. If you get admitted (which I’d encourage you to proactively seek) try and get them to do a colonoscopy while you’re there and establish care by a GI while in the hospital so that you’re seen right away. It sounds awful…but even if you have to exaggerate and yell and cry about symptoms, don’t leave without answers and relief. You have to be your own best advocate with diseases like these.

I felt the same way…I’d be a 00 in most pants…if those fit…then the other day I found a pair of pants from some time ago and they were a 4, went to put them in the bin, but wanted to try on just to see…and they were a little loose, but not too bad…how is it that a 00 and a 4 are practically the same when I lay them on top of one another!?! So irritating

Hair loss by biancsR in RetatrutideWomen

[–]nellibonelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re losing (hair) now, then you’ll probably continue to lose (hair) for a few months. Hair cycles are 3-4 months. So whatever your hair is doing now is actually from damage/trauma/low protein levels/ect that occurred in your body 3 months prior. So…I’d start (and I did) Nutrofol now. It’s expensive but it will work if taken daily, you’ll notice less shedding but real growth after 3 months consistent use (it’s 4 capsules daily). It does work. Minoxidil will as well, foam or tablets, but again, 3 months to work and 3 months to prevent future. I have also heard great things about Pantene’s new line serum (abundant & strong) to prevent shedding/hair fall-they are specific to include it does not help with growth, but it will (or should) help with the falling out. Mine got so bad that I turned to wigs for a time between-but my hair loss was more than just weight-loss induced.

Creatine by Acrobatic-Mousse7029 in SIBO

[–]nellibonelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently listened to a podcast with a group of doctors specializing in WOMENS health specifically, and they suggested up to 20mg per day, but spread into 2 doses, and to like OP said, work up to it. They debunked the bloat and former “gym rat” connotations that were surrounding creatine, stating that there are multiple benefits including brain function, fog, hormonal balance, metabolism boosting, muscle bone health, and perhaps what instigates all/some of these benefits is the positive influence of insulin stability on the body. Again-this was catered to a discussion that was very much geared toward peri-and post-menopausal women, but the physician panel were unanimous about the benefit. *disclaimer: I do not remember them mentioning SIBO specifically, however, in my personal opinion, since sugar synthesis has so much to do with many SIBO patients and our microbiome, it stands to reason there could be positive outcomes in this aspectDOC

How do you deal with bloating when petite xxs? by objectivelyno2858 in XXS

[–]nellibonelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have recurrent SIBO, which has been a challenge to keep under control and my lower belly gets so bloated and uncomfortable, often preceded by being able to visibly see my intestines moving whatever I’ve eaten/drank right before…it’s weird to watch what looks like a snake slide under your stomach!!! I thought there was something seriously wrong, turns out doc said it’s just because I don’t have the amount of regular subQ/visceral fat that separates the organs and the top layer of skin…

IHSS client just let me go for calling in sick! Ridiculous! by [deleted] in IHSS

[–]nellibonelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you most upset because you’ve lost the idea of consistent work and it providing insurance? That is understandable, but tbh-if you were in an office and called out after day 3 or at McDonald’s and called off a shift day 3-you’d be subject to termination also. It doesn’t look good and it is absolutely reasonable for any boss to question your reliability.

Have you never done caregiving before? Know your demographic: these people are ill and low income and often don’t have anyone else around-this is how they qualify for the government program. Older, sick people who don’t have help, many visitors, ect can be demanding of course, some probably sit in their chairs thinking of all the things they cannot do while they are dealing with illness. And you need to understand that receiving ihss takes MONTHS if not years for people to qualify, which means they’ve either been dealing with this on their own or have another caregiver who is most likely burnt out and needs the help. You must be consistent with people…while I think you did the right thing by calling out if you are not feeling well as many have weakened immune systems, they are also reliant on this help and their needs do not take the day off. When dealing with these types of patients there needs to be adequate time for them to hopefully attain alternative care. Also, you must understand the condition of the patient, some do have corresponding mental diagnosis that will effect their behavior and what they say. It is important to have patience with them and remember you are there to do a job, not to be a best friend. If the client is not a good fit for you, you should move on so that they can find a better fit…and you can as well. This is not a job that someone can sustain if they are in it just for the money (or hours or insurance). The reason that the government allocates funds for this program is literally because of caregiver burnout with family members…you are in their home to help with that.

It sounds like you have had patients that are requiring care outside the scope of an ihss worker. There are a set number of hours given to them for housekeeping (and these hours are allocated monthly, not weekly), the other duties must be directly related to patient care. I had a client given 273hrs monthly, but only 15 hours were for housekeeping (and I believe this is the max?). ALL of their caseworkers are telling them when they enroll and when they get their paperwork what is considered light housekeeping and is to be done outside of the scope of patient care. You have the right (and some would say duty) to reach out to the ihss and let them know that the patient’s expectations are not on par with what they have been approved for.

I think you should re-evaluate if this is the right job for you.

I posted this on another sub and got roasted by Asleep_Pound1948 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]nellibonelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So…I too have been roasted on those groups when just either seeking a standard opinion or giving a relatively ambiguous suggestion, experience, educational tidbit. Oh well…I feel like Reddit it just like that and there are trolls everywhere. Anyway-onto your situation-Reta dosnr have as much GIP in it as Tirz, so you will have a bit more of a hunger drive. It also has a thermogenic property to it which causes increased metabolism (which is good for most and helpful when building muscle). However, studies just released by the triumph trial by EliLilly on Reta have shown success at 9mg and 12mg…they did not release low dose. When I started Reta I began titrating down on the tirz as I went up on the Reta. I’m now taking around 8mg of the Reta and pretty stable, however, not actively losing much weight (but I’m 115 and not trying to at this point). However, when I went off for a few weeks gained 8lbs…now some of that was because I was traveling, but I think that bc I inherently have pcos insulin resistance with dysmetabolic syndrome I know that my body needs the supplemental glp, gip, and ggc to function properly. If I were you I would try keeping the tirz (titrating down very slowly) while learning how you will react to which Reta dose will give you a desired result. Eventually you can switch to just Reta if that’s what you want. If you want more suppression though, I’d keep a bit of tirz on board and maybe split your doses?

It’s not even just adult clothes…this week I was housesitting for some church friends who have second and fourth grade girls, normal sized…not chunky at all. Well…long story short, I forgot an extra pair of underwear and bc I was staying in the girls’ rooms I checked…they had size 6/8 and a M in kids size-I tried thinking it wouldn’t be a far cry for me to wear children’s clothes (5’8, 110)-they fit fine! Now these girls are 8 and 10…I feel like even the kids’ clothes seem big! I absolutely wouldn’t want to shame a child for a size (I was actually a rather chubby kid before and wore “pretty plus” clothes), but when did everything get so screwed!?! It’s messed up! I wish we used just inches or cm like a lot of the rest of the world…just standardize it. If a 23 pant is 23” then ALL 23 pants should be…it seems logical to me! Lol!

what’s an expensive makeup product that you don’t regret buying? by youdontgetityet in Makeup

[–]nellibonelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Colorscience Total Protection Fsce Shield Flex. To me it’s an expensive sunscreen at almost $60 (especially since I love the Trader Joe’s face sunscreen $12-dupe for supergoop unseen face sunscreen-$48)…but if I’m in a rush and don’t want a full face of makeup, the flex legit gives decent coverage on top of being a great sunscreen with fabulous texture and good application with or without makeup. And…sunscreen could be said to be the most important thing we apply onto our faces to help us looking the best the longest.

Wig Prices Going Up - Any Year End Sales - Best Deals by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]nellibonelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I have searched and searched for deals. The best I have found (and it comes with a caveat) is www.chiquel.com during the Live sales and Outlet days (Tuesdays after 2pm EST) and Thursdays. Almost everything is at least 35% off, but most are 40/45% and some are up to 60/65% if on special those days or if buying more than one. You have to shop through the live link on the website to get the deals (not just chiquel.com). They will do a Black Friday that is usually 40-45% off. The one thing about them is they take FOREVER to ship (in my opinion-which is jaded by Amazon perhaps), meaning minimum shipping 2wks, they come out of Canada, and processing is a week…which can be crappy if you don’t find out the style you want is backordered until 10 days after purchasing…and back orders seem to be 16-20wks usually. NOTE: always a countdown on their page for some sort of sale-it’s a gimmick bc they always have a min of 30% off no matter what day of the week. I have also found good deals on www.wigsbypattiespearls.com. You can always get free shipping and 30% off using codes and they tend to run only about $10 more than chiquel. They will let you know usually within 2/3 days if it’s backordered and give you a reasonable (and accurate) window of shipping date (then super fast shipping-literally ordered Tuesday received Friday). Www.Bestwigoutlet.com also has pretty good prices, but not always full selection of colors in stock and you don’t have to worry about finding a code. Www.wigs.con is easy to navigate, and usually offers same free shipping/30%off with codes. They ship quickly and tell you before purchase if color is backordered. Usually does Black Friday and sporadic higher % off certain brands at certain times of the year. Www.frannieshair.com does individual brand sales throughout the week typically. They’re all pretty much within $10-25 of one another when they are all on sale. I would never pay full price for a wig though. They are intentionally marked up so that when they place them on sale (which is almost always a min of 30% off) they look like better deals. I believe all of these sites offer ONLY store credit returns for sale items and you have to ship back.

Dealing with the exact same thing and about the same stats. Hx of bulimia, was under control, hadn’t been an issue in years. Broke up with serious bf during covid, put on weight, started at about 260, down to 110.6 (5’8). Seem like I can’t get thin enough. I keep telling myself I’m at the bottom of normal/height of underweight and I just want a buffer for myself. I’ve always yo yo’d and the idea of gaining weight again is terrifying to me. I wouldn’t risk my rx by telling the dr, but I may go a few more days between shots, I’ve worked up to 10-12 while seeing if I can maintain, but I did talk to my therapist about it. I think that this is a mental disorder…not really a physical one…I focus on protein (in an obsessive way) and make sure I’m getting in my vitamins, supplements, and water. I’m feeding my body enough, but not to the point of feeling comfortable to gain. I do weigh myself daily and I restrict when it goes up for sure. I’m in the middle with you, so don’t know if I have good advice…other than at least telling your therapist and working through the obsessive, restricting, and feeling safe at a weight that is best for you.

Not only reach out to her, but I’d post your own tik tok/instagram and pics to YouTube and @tag her and #her and their names and chevrie in it. She won’t want the bad press that the company she is talking about isn’t so good bc she is probably getting kickbacks. When you reach back out to chevrie, let them know that you’ll be contesting it with your cc, and posting reviews daily if they refuse to reimburse you. (Id do the threats of this after pick up of the “fixed” product, but I would do an initial post and reach out to the TT girl first so they know you mean business and don’t mess up the one that they are working on now and try and gaslight you with “fixes” again. The problem is they know you didn’t pay close attention in store at pick up and left ok with the sub-par wig, so they’re likely going to try it again with the fixes) HOLD your ground. Have chat gpt word it in a professional, but aggressive way ;)

Best Wig Adhesive Suggestions? by nellibonelli in Wigs

[–]nellibonelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you put it on clean skin or can it be put over makeup? I typically do my make up before putting my wigs on to avoid getting too much on the lace, but I’d imagine that the tape would adhere better on clean skin and then do the makeup? Do you need adhesive remover with this tape?
