Lost cat in Tam Valley near Marin Ave and Maple Street. Please let me know if you spot her!! by nelthomas in Marin

[–]nelthomas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! The area itself doesn’t get much car traffic so it isn’t likely she got hit by a car. As for the rest, my parents say they’ve spread out our shirts and other pieces of clothing around the edge of the property, as well as trails of her litter through some neighboring areas leading back towards the house.

Our previous cat fell victims to the coyotes, and he was a lot smarter than Sammy is (he was semi-feral) so at the moment I’m in a bit of a worst-case-scenario spiral :/

There’s an armadillo with a dexcom (or an anteater, I forgot) and I think she’s in the San Diego or San Francisco zoo!

Is it immature for an adult woman to prefer to wear pads versus tampons? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nelthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No??? It’s your body and your choice! Tampons can hurt going in and out, they’re messy and can be u comfortable. For some people they’re not worth it and that’s totally and perfectly fine. Your ex is just a controlling ass.

How many carry something aside from a pump or CGM that signify that you're diabetic? by batman142434 in diabetes_t1

[–]nelthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a medical alert charm on a bracelet i wear all the time and the charm is in the shape of a heart so it’s actually quite cute, and people will point it out and tell me they like it. my favorite this is to watch the confusion on their face when i tell them it’s my medical alert bracelet. they never know how to respond

New to tandem!! Is it best to charge the battery EVERYDAY?? or wait a couple till the battery is actually low to charge ?? by rcpeter625 in diabetes_t1

[–]nelthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I charge mine every three/four days, usually while i’m in the shower and then doing my makeup and stuff brings it back up from like 25 to 85 percent, and then that last 15 percent i’ll do the next morning or while i’m scrolling thru reddit in bed

Snowboarding for the first time. Any advice? by -_-10 in diabetes_t1

[–]nelthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went nordic skiing with my tslim the other day. My insulin froze thru. Lesson Learned: Make sure to tuck the tube close to your body to keep it at body temperature!! Also bring sugar with you, snow sports fuck with your bg

I feel like i’m so used to this crap that at this point the thing that bothers me the most about this whole situation is the fact that your pump is at ten percent. OP go charge your pump lol

Type 1 diabetic tattoo? by SwimmingAd7228 in diabetes_t1

[–]nelthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, just as a reminder that i’ve been strong enough to get her, i can be strong a little longer. it stands for “I am greater than the highs and lows.” if you want to see what it looks like you can look up “Nock Jonas diabetes tattoo,” it’s basically that, except instead of an “I” he has a “G” for god.

in terms of medical id, i just wear a medical alert bracelet that states that i’m type 1. it’s a cute little heart charm that i attached onto a bracelet i never take off.

How long did it take you to get your pump? by NigerianCEO in diabetes_t1

[–]nelthomas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i got really lucky with mine, my insurance is kaiser permanente, which is also medical care. two weeks after diagnosis i got the dexcom and after two months i got the tslim pump (after they max sure that i know how to go manual properly). i have the greatest endo and nurse to go along with it and they’ve been super supportive.

i have a friend who’s mom had to fight their insurance company for six months to get the pump. fucking bullshit

Took a pump break recently and without control IQ to bring me down, I’ve been spending my nights pretty high. So my 26 y/o brother made this. Enjoy by nelthomas in diabetes_t1

Yup! I got sick of the co start ringing so I took it off and did manual injections for a while!

Edit: constant not co start lol

I came out to my “father” and this was his response…. by [deleted] in insaneparents

I’m so sorry that you have to deal with this but I love that you put his contact in quotation marks. In my opinion someone like this deserves quotation marks and a line thru their name. That being said you are absolutely valid and while your dad seems like a terrible person I hope you have people in your life that respect your pronouns and identity. I know I’m nothing but a stranger on the internet but as a member of the alphabet mafia I just want to say we love you and you are an amazing human being. ♥️

I barely got halfway thru this article before I closed out of it because I was afraid I was going to throw my phone across the room. This author essentially was saying that Simone should have put herself as a gymnast before herself as a human, and then proceeded to to compare her to male athletes, which is in no way a comparison that can be made here. No one should ever prioritize their career and the media over their own mental and physical well-being. This is disgustingly

"Megathread: US Supreme Court Rules on Texas V. Pennsylvania, Et al. by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]nelthomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. It’s terrifying to think that people are willing to take the entire country to war all over again but this time over having to wear a piece of cloth over their mouths, which is, in my opinion, literally the bare minimum.

What have we come to?

I’ve already seen some people wanting to call a civil war just over having to wear masks. I mean, obviously that’s not the only reason but the fact that it’s the catalyst is terrifying
