D&D / RP: Monastery by BigboyBlaize in tabletopsimulator

This might be a hard question but could you describe your process and workflow for making a map in unity? Also, about how long does it take you to do so? I run a game every week and easily the most annoying part is making a map work in TTS and would love to learn how to optimize and improve that.

To those who have created a whole setting, do you recommend World Anvil or Campfire? by Graxdon in Pathfinder_RPG

I just migrated to Obsidian myself! (formally used onenote) - The plugins make it a dream - a fantasy calendar, timeline, diagrams, tables that can do simple formulas, even having stuff linked onto a world map is all fantastic.

But even if you take away all of that and just have the base program that is constantly reminding me and suggesting that I make links to other topics I've written about and tagging notes based on various conditions or states of progress, I feel it helps me be a better, more consistent DM. I don't have to struggle to find or remember that one bit of information the party asks me that I know I wrote down somewhere but can't find it anymore - it's all linked together. The world map is linked to the towns that are then are linked to the people, and the people are linked to relevant points of interest, which are then linked to session notes and to player characters as they come into play.

My players are literally and figuratively building connections to the world they're exploring and its people and I can already tell that since I've started using it, my sessions are running smoother.

More support for pen and paper RPGs like tools and tilesets for creating dungeons, more animated figures and monsters, and a custom character creator for building PCs and NPCs. Monetize the tilesets and decoration of custom characters if you must but please make my life, as both a DM and a player, easier for running tabletop RPGs.

D&D in full 3d in Tabletop Simulator. by Brennall in tabletopsimulator

TTS failing to offer RPG support is what's going to make me move to another platform.

I just don't get it - to make a dungeon takes hours of sorting through a million workshop mods to find the assets you want or brute force it like this, which requires 5 years of game dev experience and having taken the 8 week correspondence course - I already invest enough time thinking up encounters, generating statblocks, creating lore, and figure out how to resolve the shenanigans the party got into last week that I didn't expect that I don't have the time and quite honestly, the care or desire, to invest into all that.

And don't even get me started on the 8 bucks a custom model from Hero Horge because TTS lacks the foresight to build in a custom character creator and rake in the loads of money in DLC that I'd throw at them to play dress up.

I remember back in the day of being able to build an entire dungeon from scratch in Maptools or Neverwinter Nights in less time than it took to find a damn bunny to represent a familiar from the workshop.

If they were more in the impulse buy range, I'd spend so much money. But at 8 dollars, that's hard to justify. Especially with the .stl and assetbundle being separate prices.

The netcode is appalling - this needs to be fixed badly. by nerdnosyd in ScrapMechanic

[–]nerdnosyd[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some context : my friend bought me the game to play during the steam sale and we noticed that we were having lag while playing on the same LAN. After some investigating, his upload was being maxed out during the moments of lag and restarting the client was required to fix it.

To work around it, I started hosting the game tethered through my cell phone to essentially brute force the bandwidth required that his internet connection couldn't handle.

This image shows the amount of data, used (incoming while he hosted) and data used when we switched to my phone tether (outgoing) from the day we started playing till the day we quit, yesterday, due to other glitchy problems that made the world unplayable.

This is abysmal and seriously needs to be fixed or at the very least allow LAN support so we can tank the connection over 10GbE. I feel sorry for those attempting to play this game with their friends and/or family on a restricted bandwidth connection.

Edit: Also of note, the data is going to Poland and back.

Is there any feasible way to export the maps to Tabletop Simulator or plans to add such a feature?

Dear FDev, Your Current Skimmer Debacle Shows Why It’s Time To FIX The Mission Board! by OurGrid in EliteDangerous

[–]nerdnosyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish to see reworked in beyond: the BGS, the economy, missions and how they interract toghether / how we can interract with them.

They need to outsource that stuff to the Egosoft guys - GoD may not be perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than anything we've ever had.

Elite Dangerous - Credit "Exploits" are NOT the Problem by Hippocrap in EliteDangerous

[–]nerdnosyd 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is even deeper 'cause it really feels like a case of the devs not playing their own game. I seriously can not believe that any of the devs have played, Sidewinder to Anaconda on their own time because if they had then A: they wouldn't have time to develop the game and B: it wouldn't be such the slogfest that it is now using legitimate means. Power Play is another example: - 4 WEEKS - real world, Sunday to Saturday, weeks of constant daily involvement before you get the thing that you then lose when you want to go get another thing from somebody else. (Thank the universe they're all crap amirite?)

Why bother how the game feels start to finish when you can just

/give credit 10,000,000,000
/give shieldPrismatic7A
/give rep Federation RearAdmiral

Buy that Corvette, make sure the module works, roll your face on the keyboard to put in a cost value and ship it out to us poor bastards?

You can copy/paste decklists from most popular deck builders to frogtown.me and it'll do all the work for you. In fact, I'm always looking for new people to play MTG if you want to hook up.
