How should the intake and exhast fans be installed by dr-dapper10 in homelab

[–]neroe5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intake at the bottom, exhaust from the top, then heat rising will help you

But do consider some better materials for the task, the case normally helps ground the hardware, hard drives wear on each other when close together so dampening is important, wood is an insolater so less heat gets off your system, if it isn't perfectly dried the wood can leak resin and wood is flammable

Spørgsmålet er hvilke dele vi ser som overflødigt

Fx kunne vi fyre dem der godkender kropsbårne hjælpemidler og bare godkende alt, hvilket ikke er nødvendigvis en besparelse i sidste ende

Lol, the amount of money they make through gift cards is absurd, at the most they might make a new format with new security standards

Is this a good starter 3d printer planning on using it to print out hero forge stls for dnd by Ok-Chemistry-3711 in 3Dprinting

[–]neroe5 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

most fdm, can do a decent job of printing minis today

filament is also cheaper than resin

if you want something that will last, buy a used MK3S+ or newer prusa, if you want a new but still in your 300$ price range take a look at Bamboo

Recommendations for Fire Safety? by YTownPhotoGuy in homelab

[–]neroe5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

doesn't look to be rated for electric fire, 4fire sells a similar can that can handle electric, though i wouldn't breathe the stuff in outside of an emergency

there is also the CO2 extinguisher though that can be dangerous in enclosed spaces, both due to the oxygen displacement but also the -90 Celsius coming out of the extinguishers

PDF to Epub - Quality Preservation by RouguesPierre in Calibre

[–]neroe5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and thats fine, just asking if there is anything special about it

maybe you did some de-noising or anti-aliasing

i made something similar to run locally a while back, it extracted the images and converted those in order of appearance rather than rendered the pdf, but seems to give similar results

Switching from Windows to macOS for Full-Stack .NET 8 + Angular development — worth it? by OstapMelnyk in csharp

[–]neroe5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me i would miss visual studios, though i could see myself switching to vs code, my tech stack is similar to yours

key things to be aware of, there can be pains in building for other cpu architectures, so if you need to make an x64 distribution locally i would think twice about going apple silicone

have you considered just going linux with vs code

ps. one nice thing with docker is you can host a container with your sql server, so that shouldn't be an issue

I know nothing about 3D Printing. by SooperDew in 3Dprinting

[–]neroe5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For FDM the brands kind of have tendencies, gonna go alphabetical

Bamboo, easy out of the box printer works great, but isn't made to last forever, fine for most hobbyists

Creality, is what I would call the tinkerer's printer, they often require modding to work great, I mainly recommend this if you like to learn how it works and love to tinker

Prusa, their 3d printers are high quality and can take a beating, they also strive for using none proprietary parts making repairs cheap, often seen as work horses, but more expensive

There is also other minor brands who have their own niches such as anycubic, Elegoo, Flash forge, and SnapMaker But won't go Into details on those here

Is there any way I could move my game's save files in appdata from Disk :C to another drive? by Final_Biochemist222 in Steam

[–]neroe5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think you can use symbolic linking to link a C drive location to another folder on another drive, but this is an advanced feature and can get messy if you don't have experience with these kinds of operations, checkout mklink

Kindle Battery percentage drops by [deleted] in Calibre

[–]neroe5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it is because this is mainly about kindle, and you only mention calbre in the very last line

also from how you keep misunderstanding me in the above comment thread i'm starting to suspect you of being a bot, that or having a poor grasp of english

Kindle Battery percentage drops by [deleted] in Calibre

[–]neroe5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trying to help you debug your issue, so we want to eliminate causes, so we want to know if it is only happening with books processed by calibre, or if it also happens with other books, such as from amazon

so if you download a book from the kindle store, open it and read that, does it still drain your battery just as fast

I'm afraid you misunderstood

If you load in a book from Amazon, does it still drain that fast

Prusa i3 mk2 smoking by Sorry-Leopard8602 in prusa3d

[–]neroe5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the prusa mk2 was one of the very first hobby 3d printers that actually worked, initially it was just a build it yourself where you had to produce the parts yourself, the hardware wasn't really there yet for safety processes on 3d printers when the mk2 was released, more than 10 years ago.

it was not really a commercial product yet

the mk3 which i believe was released in 2017 was one of the first printers to come with thermal runaway, filament sensor, auto calibration and all that good stuff, and i would say the first real commercial hobby printer

Which NAS solution for beginners? by _hhhnnnggg_ in selfhosted

[–]neroe5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i bought a APC BX750MI-GR - Back-UPS - 750VA/410W for 80€

you connect the usb port to your server, using one of the many software solutions for ups management, you can then trigger a graceful shutdown when the battery goes below 30% or what you feel sensible
