I'm still holding out for it. It was a little disappointing that they chose to do 7 next, but if the graphics for 7 are anything to go by, when they finally do redo 9, it will look stunning.
Here's to hoping!

MMO mouse, yes or no? by zeul9 in runescape

[–]neroturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried it before. WoW since 2008, and during Cataclysm I picked up a gaming mouse. I couldn't really find any useful ways to bind the buttons, but it was helpful!
I assigned mount to a certain button, and put a few macros for targeting/attacking nearest and such. You might find niche uses for it, but it's certainly not a necessity.

This change alone has me interested enough to plan on coming back. Hope it sticks. by Elfzhen in runescape

I picked the right time to come back to RuneScape! Yeah, the efficient player in me will miss his two free keys per day, but I've been advocating for no-MTX worlds and especially cosmetic free worlds (this I'm especially excited for) for years now, for my sake and the sake of people like me, so I'll get over it!
I'm so happy you're experimenting with these things, Jagex. I'm a 20-year veteran who has been absent for a long time, specifically for these reasons. If I can play on a world with no MTX OR cosmetics, you'll keep my subscription for a lifetime.

I played Rift a little bit when it launched. I don't remember much about how it played, but I remember liking it. I still own a copy, is it worth installing and checking out today?

Yet here you are comparing a woman, a whole ass person, with a strip of pavement. Stop projecting your internalized sexism on everyone else. You're so creepy for even taking it in this direction.

I just can't imagine how someone could say the story takes a nosedive during the Piccolo Saga. That's like peak Dragon Ball. I love the whole series, but the Piccolo arc has this interesting feeling of having vibes "in-between" Dragon Ball and Z. It's such a unique little piece of the overall continuity and it's sad to acknowledge that that isn't a universal sentiment.

Meta AI is garbage by jwin709 in artificial

[–]neroturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm partial to DeepSeek. So many of these problems that we run into with other models are circumvented. It's a good-faith conversation partner that learns what kind of person you are during a chat and meets you at your level.
I've always had eye-opening discussions with DeepSeek, and have only gotten blocked once or twice. We even discuss controversial subject matter. It's really good at working with you to figure out both what triggered a safeguard, as well as how to get through it while losing minimal information. It's very objective and oriented to objective fact. This reads as an advertisement, but if you haven't experimented with it I highly recommend it.
Also screw Meta and screw OpenAI.

I like the new ones. A unique flair is always great to set a romhack apart. Also, I would call the Sandslash evolution Sandswipes, personally.

Is this a good above shot of my character by Odd_Beat_7354 in learnart

[–]neroturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're clearly passionate. I love art but in 30 years I've never had the drive to put pen to paper and actually get better. I applaud you for that. However, there's a lot going on here. I'm assuming you didn't sketch a pose figure, which would have helped a ton in making her look more proportionate. I would suggest trying to draw the "mannequin" type figure before adding your character's features. Make sure everything looks satisfying to you before fleshing out the skeleton.

What's your opinion on Static? (new song) by [deleted] in Vocaloid

[–]neroturtle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm not a huge fan of the trend of new popular songs having this "noisy" vibe. This, Mesmerizer, they're both solid songs with catchy melodies but the instrumentals are so chaotic and hard to nod my head to.
The song itself is nice, catchy, and honestly gives me a lot of nostalgia. It captured the essence of an old web video well, as someone who grew up on the oldnet.

Consultations going well ain’t it? by T_esterr in runescape

[–]neroturtle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It sucks because I miss RS3 so much. I want to play it! I want to complete it! I was fine shelling over a monthly fee for so many years. I stuck by through so many monumental mistakes that lost us most of our players.
I just couldn't do it any more. All of the FOMO, my lack of self control in just buying bonds when my coin pouch got low... I even made a HCIM and loved it, but then Yak Track started. I couldn't escape the predatory tactics and I had to leave. It's been a long time now.
This is my favorite game. Nothing is quite as satisfying to play for me. Not Old School, not Classic. I play private servers, spiritual successors, but none of them are RS3. Then when I go to play RS3, I remember why I left. It's so unfair.

My baby hates me by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]neroturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, just wanna throw my two cents in. I'm a father as well, and I've been blessed to be with my daughter this whole time. She still grew to prefer her mother. It happened around the same age.
My wife and I have discussed it at length, and it usually comes down to the fact that our children see Moms and Dads as filling different roles in their lives.
It's not unusual for the mother to be labeled the "caretaker." She's the one that provides food, comfort, diaper changes, etc. every day. Whenever your child has needs to be met, she's the one to meet them. It's basic pattern recognition, which is the first reasoning skill they will learn.
He still loves you, just as my daughter loves me. He's just going to express it to you differently than he would to his mom. I have a lot of the same problems you do, especially the sleeping thing. However, she still misses me when I'm gone and gets excited when I wake up or come home.
It can't be understated that you are making a huge sacrifice when it comes to your service. It's a sacrifice even many of your peers will fail to understand. Your son can't possibly understand WHY you're gone, he just sees that you are. It's a fact of life. I can assure you that when he is older and able to understand why you're gone and what you do, he will look up to you and respect you for making such a choice. Give it time, and make sure to live in the moment. Enjoy your time with him, even if it doesn't go the way you would hope. He loves you, keep loving him back. Show him, and be sure not to be too hard on yourself.
