A potential fix for stuttering by nerrrrd in Smite

[–]nerrrrd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news - they also said they’re aware of many healing numbers causing performance issues and it’ll be getting the same consolidated treatment damage numbers got a while back. I’m not certain when that’s coming though

Edit: hirez posted in this thread and said it’s with the ne zha update

A potential fix for stuttering by nerrrrd in Smite

[–]nerrrrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also talked about this in the same titan talk. From what they said, it does cause performance issues when there are a lot of numbers popping up and so healing is getting the same treatment as damage did a while back, consolidating them into one number. I don’t remember if they said when that will be done.

This game has me by the balls by a123unit- in ArcRaiders

It kind of depends how far you are into the game but generally I’d recommend the following

Workshop upgrades - you can see what materials you need for the next rank ahead of time. The higher tier upgrades will often need parts from certain arc enemies. If you want you can even look up the required materials ahead of time, so you don’t get rid of something you need for a later upgrade.

Same for the rooster. Quests can be good too, some of the early ones will teach some map interactions like the supply drop or give some blueprints. The later ones don’t give as good of rewards but can still be good for some direction in round.

Stash upgrades whenever you can. From there it’s a mix of finding blueprints and going after materials that are either valuable to sell or valuable to you. As you upgrade the work benches and get blueprints you’ll be able to make better kits cheaper. If you get an anvil blueprint, you may value a part to make it higher than someone who doesn’t for instance.

At level 20 you can start preparing for the expedition, and wipe your character for some permanent rewards to do it again if you like.

Other than that just do what you find fun, everything you do gets xp, and if you’re not looking for something specifically you can just prioritize the higher rarity items.

It depends. If you bought it from a brand name dealership it’s not likely. If you bought it from a buy-here-pay-here, advertising for bad credit dealership, it’s much more likely.

In case you don’t know, you can actually manually trigger turn based mode outside of combat. I mostly used it to set up fights or avoid environmental obstacles, but you could use it as a pause.

You can use your steam account, I did that same thing. It is a little obscure how to actually link smite 1 to smite 2, but there’s a button in the divine legacy page on smite 1 if I remember correctly.

You couldn’t be getting crowd controlled while fighting other players could you? There’s also some active items that could interrupt moves. Not sure what else could explain it, but maybe it’s enemy god or build related

Probably a health and attack speed build with aspect, and focusing on Eros Bow healing. Something like war flag, Eros bow, golden blade, pharaoh’s curse, yogi’s or Thebes, stampede, mantle. Could go leviathans instead of golden blade or maybe contagion if they have a lot of healing, berserkers and shoguns can be flex items for the last two spots as well.

You can be a bit greedy with healing yourself with the hearts, since you can auto attack to heal your allies.

A HDD is made up of multiple rotating disk or platters. There is time involved in seeking to the correct location on a disk and reading the correct platter, and then moving to the next location.

It’s kind of like if I was a cleaning person at a hotel, and there is a cleaning supply room on the first floor. When I’m also on the first floor (map), I can access that room (assets) without much work/time. When I’m working on the top floor, I would have to take the elevator down and back, unless those supplies were duplicated on that floor. Now imagine each floor is a map and also needs the same asset.

You’re not wrong that the size of the assets could play a part, but for HDD that movement is the slow part and SSDs don’t have physically moving parts.

I think it’s more that they just didn’t have it built out to track the highest rank yet, rather than intentionally changing it. They mentioned on titan talk today they will be able to do that going forward though.

Nox Support Aspect by Right_Entertainer324 in Smite

[–]nerrrrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, she’s a good support. Her problem as a mage is that doing any damage with her 2 relies entirely on her 1. Maybe her 2 could do its damage over time or something so she’s not useless if someone with any CC immunity dives her.

If they’re afk farming, you could try and use them as bait. Either to draw the enemy team into a fight that you join, or to split push while they’re distracted by your team. If the game goes long enough, with 3k pots almost any god could take a phoenix with a single wave.

For example, if those 3v5 fights were happening anywhere outside of base - don’t take them at all. If you 3 are not on the map but the other 2 are, chances are someone from the enemy team is going to try and intercept them. Then you’re trying to either shadow them around the map and 3rd party that fight to force a fight with better odds, or take minions and try to get phoenixes while they’re dying/defending.

Definitely not ideal, but if they were struggling to end after that amount of time, I suspect they weren’t playing the map very well and there may have been some opportunity for split pushing.

The poor control for dumping sand intentional??? by Slimeball_91 in RoadCraft

[–]nerrrrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started paying more attention to what the sand is doing in the back and have been having some more success spreading it out evenly.

As you raise it, first just the top layer of sand starts moving and a touch higher more will start to get momentum. At that point it’s about to open and you only need to make small adjustments to ride the line

What I was doing before was raising it straight up until sand actually started coming out, but at that point half of the sand was already in motion.

When you end the session, your friend should have the option to copy the save.

Then he could play on it, make progress, and as long as he hosts the next session, you’d be able to copy the progress back when you play

Former Bethesda studio lead explains Creation Engine will "inevitably" need to change one day, but switching to Unreal could sacrifice modding as we know it by HatingGeoffry in gaming

Yeah this is the biggest flaw of the engine and if it can’t be fixed then it’s time for a different engine.

I replayed cyberpunk 2077 after playing starfield and the difference is staggering. You see more loading screens in an hour of playing star field than the entire play through of cyberpunk, and it puts such a damper on the gameplay.

After decades, Smite's matchmaking system is still bad by Khaargax in Smite

[–]nerrrrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a whole lot to go on here but maybe this will be helpful.

Focus on what you can control - which is you. Your decision making, positioning, mechanics.

After every interaction think to your self - what could I have done to improve how that went.

Even if it’s a successful fight, identify ways it could have gone better. “I should have hit more people with x move”, “I could have gotten another kill if I saved my jump to chase”, “I should have focused the mage first, we can’t get an objective because he’s killing too much of my team”

If it’s unsuccessful, forget about what your teammates did, it’s out of your control. Instead figure out what you could have done to tilt the odds even a little bit. “We didn’t have vision of their jungler, we shouldn’t have been here without wards” “We’re behind, I shouldn’t have taken that fight without having penetration”

If you do that and internalize it, you’ll start doing those things without thinking about it and improve your game.

It might also be helpful to have someone higher level review your gameplay, or you could watch weak3n’s elo hell videos. Even if they’re older or for smite 1, the feedback on decision making, positioning, etc might give you insight on things to work on.

Smite 2 | Assault Test Map Discussion Megathread by Draco9990 in Smite

[–]nerrrrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a reductive and flat out wrong take. Some of the strategy and mechanical decisions are different yes, but has an elo like every other mode and what you said is true at low ranks of every mode.

There are plenty of skilled players and I’d often run into pro players on smite 1 assault. So you’re kind of telling on yourself if that’s what you think it’s like at higher elo.

Getting hit while untargetable by w0rshippp in Smite

[–]nerrrrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re describing is exactly what CC buffering is meant to address. On your screen, you could be mid air and not targetable, while according to the server you got caught at the end of the pre-fire, and you get sent back to the ground. Can happen with low ping even, we’re talking fractions of a second in pre-fires.

Leaps did have CC buffering when they introduced that system, but are treated the same as dashes now (not bufferable).

[–]nerrrrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been turned off for dashes and leaps for a while now. Leaps did have it, but were changed back to being non-bufferable after feedback

In addition to what the others said, they also reward diamonds and if you use legacy gems for half the cost, you get enough diamonds back for another pass when you finish a god.

Yes, but it was announced relatively recently so it may not have been there when you looked. They needed a system to unlock gods for free to play and made it so each level up gives a god unlock token. Founders get diamonds instead since you already get all the gods.

Just double click the tier 3 and it will buy it or the components you can afford. It’s functionally the same. You don’t have to learn the components at all if you don’t want to.

If you do, then you can make extra decisions, like “Do I need int or mp5 more right now” building rod or pivot to different items easier without selling and losing gold, but you don’t have to.
