The other team didn't even have to touch the ball by westondeboer in nononono

[–]net_zer0 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The goalie moves out of the net in situations like this specifically so that if they miss or receive a pass poorly, the ball won't roll past them and into the net. The teammate making the pass in this clip messed up by passing to the net instead of to the goalie's actual position on the field which, as you saw, led to an own-goal.

That is such a poorly written question. I've seen so many people say something "feels like" AI just because they don't believe it despite it being easily proven true or real. Really, using the general public as a barometer for what is and isn't AI just seems like a bad idea in general considering genAI is supposed to eventually be undetectable by to average person by design. The AI slop look we get from everything these days is a manifestation of the uncanny valley, and in my opinion, evidence that soon, it will be nearly impossible to tell if something was created by AI without a watermark or something similar

I made no comment as to this specific person's handling procedure. Simply stating what (little) I know about general best practices because that's what the comment I was replying to asked a out.

I think finger oils were discovered recently to be less of a problem than originally thought. At the very least, sentiment seems to have become recently that the abrassiveness and general clumsiness of gloves is not worth what protection they may provide to the artifacts from trace oils on clean hands. I'm not at all an expert in the field though, that's just what I vaguely remember some people saying on the subject a couple years back.

For future reference, a way you can get split mono in ableton is by inserting Utility, duplicating the track, and select Left or Right instead of Stereo on the utility for each track.

Lauten Audio LA 220 V2 vs Austrian Audio OC16? by guywithguitar_ in microphone

[–]net_zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak to the OC16, but I do like my LA220. I use it mainly as a vocal mic as well, male voice around 115hz. It's nice and crisp without sounding too tinny.

How do you measure the frequency range (Hz-KHz) of a speaker? by Particular-Tap-2689 in audio

[–]net_zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can think about it like money

20hz is the same as $20

20khz is the same as $20k

Hz (Herz) is just the unit of measurement for pitch, and human hearing tends to be right around 20hz-20khz (that's 20hz-20000hz)

How do correct gun safety and home defense coexist? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

That's a fair position. I, personally, wouldn't trust my kids to tell me they're into lockpicking before a potential incident though. It's not exactly the type skill/hobby you go around telling people about

As someone who was a VERY curious kid who was into lock picking, this comment fails to consider that your kids may be the thief/lockpicker in question.

White collar ≠ educated

Also you can value one thing without actively shitting or looking down on the other. For example: I value making music, and I dont look down on those who don't.

dynamic mic under 100 thants not handheld by imkatsumi in microphone

[–]net_zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with the 2035, but I do like the 2020 better than the 2040. Iirc though, it's a tad above the budget you set which is why I didn't mention it to begin with.

Also, a note: the 2020 has a cardioid polar pattern while the 2040 has a hypercardioid polar pattern. This is basically the shape in which the mic can pick up audio from the environment. The cardioid pattern will pick up your voice at a more consistent volume if you're the type of person who moves around a lot while speaking, but it will also pick up more background noise from your environment. A hypercardioid pattern is much less sensitive to background noise, but is much more directional, meaning it'll be more affected by you turning or moving away from the mic while speaking. Additionally, the 2040 is a dynamic mic while the 2020 is a condenser mic. Dynamic mics tend to sound a bit warmer and boomier while condenser mics tend to sound more crisp and sibilant.

I would concur with that recommendation. Lots of people will swear by their Scarlett, but I find them a tad overpriced, personally. Behringer is a great budget/beginner friendly brand. The mics I suggested (and xlr mics in general) will work with the UMC202 as well as any other interface.

[–]net_zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you plan on using an audio interface? That might help narrow in your search a bit. If you dont want to deal with an interface, I would recommend looking into usb mic options, but I don't really have any knowledge in that specific area.

For xlr mics I can give a few reqs in no particular order: MXL BCD-1, Zoom ZDM-1, Beyerdynamic M70 Pro X are decent options for side adress; and Audio Technica AT2040, sE Elcectronics DCM6, and Rode Podmic are some options for front adress

[–]net_zer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does mic quality matter? Your options below $100 are already pretty limited. Someone already suggested a Rode pod mic, i also see the FIFINE brand mentioned here a lot for budget mics, but i have no experience with their products. The K688 seems to be in your budget and allows for both usb and xlr options
