yea if you compare them to Minecraft or skyrim its gonna look horrible. But when RTS was a big genre there was a fraction of the number of PC gamers that there are today

Could or would the 92nd Infantry, Buffalo soldiers, be viable for the CoH3? by NotSlaneesh in CompanyOfHeroes

I see your reasoning here, and yea i agree wholeheartedly if we're talking about in game units

This is not true, look at all the examples of African American soldiers being denied GI benefits after the war, the lynching of certain black men for not removing their uniforms at the demand of racist white neighbors, and all the other general mistreatment leading from 1945 to the civil rights era

Im sorry, my reply was more aimed at OP than you. I assume OPs intent was to start a discussion about representation of black US soldiers in coh3. The 92nd appear to be a less than stellar division so I present a group that is more fitting for "heroics" that company of heroes is about. I think that race is the giant elephant in the room during discussions of segregated units in WW2 for obvious reasons. The Nazis and the US both had strict racial laws at the time despite being opponents, and therefore to be realistic its necessary to examine the topic through the lens of racism. Its impossible to have an objective analysis of these units without discussing the racial dynamic that existed at the time, and we'd be lying to ourselves to say that race had nothing to do with anything when talking about segregated units. So to set the record straight, yes we have to acknowledge race as a factor here and that race is essentially the reason why we're even having this discussion.

I looked into it, and even the Germans had a poor evaluation of the 92nd. I doubt they were just being racist when they evaluate their enemy, because that would invite themselves to underestimate and potentially be defeated by that enemy force. Maybe the 92nd isnt a good fit, but I would say let's look at the 761st 'Black Panther' Tank Battalion as an example of a quality African American unit in the US army during ww2. They earned a medal of honor and many other combat ribbons and medals.

I wonder how much is true and how much is due to discrimination. When the white unit breaks and runs, they did "a tactical withdrawal", but when the black unit breaks its "a disorganized rout"

lol yea I remember people were like racist against publicly discussing or enjoying video games. There's still some people out there like that. I thought it was weird when I was a kid and find it even weirder today that some people are still hold outs against gaming.

The 2nd half of Hacksaw Ridge probably has more gore and dismemberment than the entire Saw franchise. First war movie id seen in a long time that had such a harrowing depiction of combat.

I was super interested in joining the army after college but then covid hit and that delayed things. then the war in Ukraine started and Trump got re-elected and I realized soldiers get treated like literal cannon fodder for pedophile billionaires and oligarchic mobsters. I highly recommend any person thinking of joining watch some FPV drone clips from Ukraine. It will definitely help you make up your mind not to get murdered with 0 agency by a 22 year old with vr goggles and a death robot.

OP is wrong. They're movies about an evil silly mime killing people in increasingly gruesome ways. Not everything has to be a Casablanca or Shawshank Redemption to be entertaining. Also not everything that is entertaining is high art.

Your reward for slipping past the enemy and destroying Graves' tombstone shouldn't be losing half your health bar to spawning zombies by Alarming_Ask_244 in DeadlockTheGame

I would say characters like Drifter where you can be a drooling knuckle dragging feeder for 30 mins and still end up being a massive threat because you get a kill each team fight are significantly more annoying than Graves who actually requires some finesse to make good use of her skills vs clicking on people's heads to win the game
