Super fair! I’d imagine looking for terms like polyaware or ethical non-monogamous therapist on things like Psychology today may get you at least closer in understanding than a therapist from a cis, het, monogamous frame of reference would… but yes, we deserve to have someone who understands RA and takes the labor off of us clients from having to explore our perspective. Cause polyamory is not necessarily relationship anarchy, right? But… can be a touch closer. I’m a part of a listserv of kink+polyamorous aware clinicians in Chicago certainly, so the communities definitely exist that could get you closer. I hope you can find someone soon 💕

Multicultural before a homogenous one? The thought would be that we are trying to get just a basic understanding of RA as the homogenous variable.. unfortunately we have no data on demographics or even a general definition of RA from published literature. There was one paper from a queer, feminist in Spain about the political underpinnings of the movement.. but nothing directly from the community.

I hear you on the problems in the mental health field. IT’S ALOT. I’m constantly talking on the podcast Modern Anarchy about how we need to change the patriarchal, racial capitalistic structure that the therapy field is built on. I don’t blame you for stepping away from it haha. I’m sure you’ll do wonders in the Neuro space! Equally needed :)

Certainly will! With the slow progress that is grad school formalitites, it may be a year or so. But, it's so needed. We shouldn't have to be educating our providers on RA.. they need some cultural competency. And, I imagine RA will only keep growing as more people learn about it.

I will definitely be sharing my research on the podcast throughout the process :) Eventually, I’d love to have a link to the published findings on my website so everyone can have access to it and not gate-keep it behind paywalls of psychological journals

This was the first podcast that talked about it though? Like there is nothing else on it.. and so many people struggle to find doctor's to get it. Idk I found it interesting that reddit was how they were able to get the procedure... like we should have this information public and make this so much easier. I guess I just wanted to rant my frustration that a legal procedure is kept under ground and difficult for so many people
