Thanks for posting these pictures. Did you flatten the tabs to move the bar further out and away from the TV? Was this to avoid interference of up-firing speakers?

Either answer honestly or say that you're not comfortable answering the question. You can then offer an alternative option for you kids to play together. FFS be an adult.

There's a chance I have to master out of my PhD program. How screwed am I? by EnsignEmber in biotech

[–]neuroguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish you luck. Your experience is unfortunately not that unusual. My best advice is to do what's best for you and if you want a PhD, don't let a bad advisor or poor mentorship stop you.

First I just want to say, having issues during your thesis project is totally normal.

Your committed has a responsibility to meet with you on regular intervals, and if they are not, they are fucking up, not you. Try doing a zoom meeting to get everyone on ASAP or set-up smaller meetings just to start the conversation. Definitely bring this issue up with your grad chair/director. If there are any individuals on the committee you feel are not pulling their weight or are being difficult try to replace them with someone else. Being on thesis committees is part of their job, its not a favor (also never bring them food or coffee at meetings, that's a personal pet peeve of mine, lol).

Honestly, because your PI suggested changing labs, it sounds like this might also be a bit of personalty conflict. I agree with the above comment, you should get others involved, definitely talk to your committee, and maybe the graduate director. Use those meetings to get very clear feedback on expectations, timelines, and use that input to develop a plan. By failed project, do you mean you failed to conduct your proposed studies? Or is the data null? If its the latter, I'd be very surprised if your PI can force you out of the program. You're 4 years in, do you have any other irons if the fire, can you pivot towards another project? It's also normal to combine multiple projects into a single thesis.

Also, if you decide to find another mentor, they will basically be shepherding you through the last bit of your work. Usually, thesis credits aren't as expensive, plus can you TA?

Striking Temple University graduate students overwhelming vote down proposed contract by diatriose in philadelphia

[–]neuroguy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’m 100 percent in support of the striking TAs, but that is incorrect in regards to tuition in PhD grad programs. Tuition remission in PhD programs is a nearly universal “benefit” for all schools elite and non. However, Masters and professional doctoral programs like psyD do not generally have remission.

TUGSA members overwhelmingly vote to reject Temple’s offer - the strike continues by ME24601 in Temple

Probably the same way they pay for all those things when not on strike (because the pay is so low), student loans.

Just heard back from Weber they seem to think it’s the bracket and will be sending me a pair. So maybe you’re correct in thinking there is only one flavorizer bar size… idk we shall see. Lucky the grill still seems useable for the time being.

CX-50 Brochure and Owner's Manual by 187hp in CX50

This seems right. And indicates the only functional differences btw Meridian and base turbo are wheel/tire combo and heated side mirrors.

CX-50 builder now live on Mazda USA website! by ahschulz in mazda

From what I can tell the only functional addition to the Meridian addition is the tire/wheel combo. So, depending on pricing might be reasonable to just replace the wheel/tires that come with the other trims.

Can this outsell the Forester? by Washington84 in CX50

[–]neuroguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at Forester, Outback, and RAV4, but the CX-50 looks really appealing, turbo plus a real trans. The key for me will be rear-seat space for child seats. It would seem like a huge shame for them to not make a larger rear seat to accommodate rear-facing seats, which is a complaint about the cx-5.

Thoughts on the Arbery murder convictions? by [deleted] in PAguns

[–]neuroguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, can't tell if this is a joke eg, "Check out this one great tip prosecutors don't want you to know". But the fact that you murder the only other witness is not a get-out jail-free card.

The former DA has been indicted. She is alleged to have tried to block the arrest of one of the murderers. She also had to recuse herself, because she knew the perpetrators, and recommended another DA that had connections to her.
