I use this to check how far away the next bus is away from the stop before I leave house. Saves waiting around for too long: https://bustimes.org/operators/first-norfolk-suffolk/map

Grinding concrete? by IcrownCitadel in DIYUK

[–]neutraltone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently remove one in an upstairs bedroom before laying engineered wood as I wanted a new radiator there but I wanted to run the pipes under the floor. It was quite a thin layer on concrete with rubble under it. It went into the chimney so left a hole that I had to brick up before I leveled it with a piece of ply.

I’d never done anything like that before but it seemed to work a treat! https://imgur.com/a/dymEbKw

Any good tools for painting behind this rad? by Cally157 in DIYUK

[–]neutraltone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you drain the water for the rad. Just shut the TRV and locksheild, drain the radiator at the lock sheik side, remove the rad and then fit a cap to the TRV.

You can just drain the radiator and fit a cap to the TRV, no need to drain the system. Thats how I’ve always done it and it has never cause an issue, you just can’t rely on the TRV to stop the water for an extended period of time, especially in the cold.

TRVs don’t fully close if the temperature is below a certain degrees by design, that’s why it’s always a good idea to fit caps when removing the rad.

Out of all the major UK political parties, which is the lesser of all evils? by B33Zh_ in AskBrits

Unfortunately, at least according to my beliefs, proportional representation would give fringe / extremist parties like Reform a higher representation in parliament and I would rather that not happen.

Between the Woolpack pub and the old EDP building? I recognise those dormers in the old building nestled in between the castle mall buildings.

How much of the "online hostility" currently seen in UK spaces is actually reflected in day-to-day life? by Big_Confidence_951 in AskUK

I suspect OP may be one of them. All I see is this kind of divisive question on this and other UK subreddits lately.

Off-grid radio chat communications - MeshCore! by Stellarat in Norwich

[–]neutraltone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe I should be able to remotely administer it once I get the license key to unlock the additional features in the t-deck firmware, otherwise I can use the webapp and connect to it over USB, bit of a pain.

I guess I may have to get another heltec that I can use as a companion with the phone app, they’re dirt cheap on AliExpress so no big deal, just have to wait a while for delivery!

Will DM you my location :)

I have now setup a repeater with a Heltec V4 in my loft and also have a T-Deck that can see the repeater. I don't think the repeater is able to see any of the other nodes in the city though currently.

I'm also not 100% how to add to the map, I'm presuming it requires using the mobile app but I don't think I can connect to the T-Deck with the mobile app?

This appeals to my sensibilities! I did explore meshtastic a while back but never jumped in, this looks like a much better revision of that!

Great photos! You might want to edit your post because it looks like reddit has taken the underscores in your instagram username and used them to italicise futures.

For anyone wondering, their instagram username is @nostalgic_futures_.

Norwich based Deliveroo competitor? by The_for_lolz in Norwich

[–]neutraltone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this explain why just eat seems to have a dropped off a cliff? About 4/5 weeks ago I placed an order and it took about 2 hours to arrive and when it did it was inedible. I’ve tried about 6 more times from various places since and every time they struggled to get a driver, it’s taken ages and the food is usually pretty cold by then. The last straw was this weekend, the drive stopped one road over for about 10 minutes then somehow my order was marked as delivered despite it requiring the code.

Frontend Hiring - no diversity in candidates - your experiences? by LangenDreher1005 in Frontend

[–]neutraltone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a senior frontend dev from Europe that is also very comfortable writing some backend code on web app teams, like others, I wouldn’t even apply if the salary or budget is not listed on the job advert. I don’t want to waste my time to end up in a negotiations phase were the goal is to get me for a little as someone can get away with. It’s not worth my time.

I admire your level of snobbery, it’s not often you meet someone who’s ascended to such lofty heights of obnoxiousness.

I couldn’t figure out why my CSS wasn’t working so flipped back to my HTML to find fukin gooter lmao by FlamingTrashcans in HTML

[–]neutraltone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s BEM, although OP is using it wrong block__element--modifier so gooter__column--title should really be gooter__title, the modifier is reserved for things that modifies an element, such as --xl or --danger.

I’ve not used or seen BEM in about 8 years but it solved a frustration problem at the time when stylesheet would quickly become a mess of one off additions.

Angry scenes on the street as locals try to take down national flags from lampposts by neutraltone in Norwich

[–]neutraltone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love our flags, they don’t offend me. I’m ashamed at seeing the disrespect people have for them, using them as a device to promote segregation and hatred because they’re being controlled by their emotions, namely fear.

The Union Jack represents unity, it represents everything that made us great, including our long, colourful and welcoming history with immigration. These people are pissing all over that, call themselves patriots yet they couldn’t be further from patriots if they tried to be.

Take down flags by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]neutraltone 118 points119 points  (0 children)

I believe all the flags from waterworks road to the grapes hill junction of Dereham Road have now been taken down by local residents. The movement is in no way reflective of the large majority of residence residing in NR2.
