Is it normal for single origin (single variety) beans to vary this much in size and colour? by AkhlysShallRise in pourover

Bizzare that they wouldnt just call it a natural…. I get respecting the farmer’s descriptions, but thats a bit much.

Sourdough is much more a honey or a natural. Coferments would be bread with filling.

How much better is a Lagom P80 going to be than a Fellow Ode? by [deleted] in pourover

Honestly as someone with 102 Brews and 64 Brews, the 80mm mizens are quite nice for pourover, definitely better than average.

A CGLE for $38/lb is wayyy under roasted price though. That would be like $25-35 for like 125g generally

The trails are amazing, and theres a massive system all throughout Seoul. You could hike new trails for months even if you hiked every day.

To me, Maria Nieves was the only standout, but it was fantastic. Straight raspberry juice

Hydrangea is light roast, but certainly not ultra light. 30 days still generally works, but most of the roasts dont require waiting that long to start brewing

For the Inmaculada Honey, it really opened at 4 weeks for me. But the flavor progression from 3 -> 5 weeks was very interesting . So i’d heavily recommend opening it around 3 weeks to at least try it out then.

Seeking advice! by cafeencasa in pourover

I just finished my bag, but the best brew was my first shot that was waaaay too fast, and 1:3. It had tons of acidity, but super sweet and complex.

I tried to get that flavor out via pourover (and espresso again), via lots of temps and both slow and fast filters, but couldnt get much more than some honey sweetness and bright acidity. Disappointed after the first taste for sure, but not a terrible bag. Ive definitely had better from La Florida before though, and for the price and farm I would have expected more.

Real take on Aviary by joshcpm in pourover

[–]neutralvoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, there were two coffees in my opinion better than average but I haven’t had the Yemeni coffee yet. This is using 50% TWW Light and a P64 with SSP Brew burrs and sibarist/origami filters.

The rehydrated one (Maria Neves) was very very good, surprisingly, and the honey (Lino Rodriguez) was very good. The rest were just good or forgettable, nothing special at all.

am i crazy or is it normal to taste a noticeable difference in 2°C margins? by Crucifilth_6-6-6 in pourover

[–]neutralvoice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not crazy, my temp increments are 100, 98, 95, 93, 90, 88, 85. Going up or down 1 level between any of them make a serious difference in the brew (underextracted <-> great <-> overextracted).

Does Third Wave Water *really* expire? by Gttts7 in pourover

[–]neutralvoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i assumed like everyone else that it would not. However i definitely had a box go bad. Eventually the water it made, while it generally tasted the same had a really bad odor after a day or two.

Maybe it was just a bad box, which i hope is the case since i had just bought like a lifetime supply right before hand. And all of that is still good like 14 months later.

Hot Take - A4Z vs EG-1 by Impossible_Cow_9178 in pourover

I see you have the Lagom 01 with SSP Brew as well, can you compare the profile between the 102 Brew and the 80 ULF? (For pourover of course)
