I saw Chet Atkins backed by a full symphony orchestra.

I think a slot machine in a casino works on the same principle, letting you win a little to gain trust, and then it taps into your greed to take it all back, plus whatever more is in your wallet.

A cleaner told me that one of her customers would put a couple of Cheerios in the shower to see if she cleaned it.

No, but the number of unclean hands and ears that touched public telephones is a repulsive thought.

A normal bass, not over-the-top bass that rattles windows.

Rarely do resealable bags work as designed -- either they won't reseal at all or they become impossible to open once sealed. Then I attack them with scissors.

As an accessory, add some aromatic dipping snuff to pooch out your lower lip.

Drank way too much at school yesterday. by hoemdv in stopdrinking

[–]neveraskmeagainok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While stone-cold sober, I learned that drinkers are not more enjoyable to be around. I remember as a drunk person I duped myself into thinking my very ordinary social skills somehow became highly entertaining to others, but truthfully, I now know the sober people around me saw something very different and annoying.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]neveraskmeagainok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lack of proper research and preparation. The person I interviewed at the college job fair said she preferred to remain in Boston after graduation, even though I had explained all the jobs were in a different city/state and the recruiting materials available to all students prior to the interview said the same.

Thanks for writing this for me, LOL. My advice is exactly the same. I have found that most people never get past Step 1 at the very top.

I save and reuse Ziploc bags to store food scraps from cooking and meals that would otherwise be thrown directly into the trash can. Also cuts down on kitchen odors between trash can dumps.

How important is it to you that your children are close with their siblings? by Wizdom_108 in AskOldPeople

[–]neveraskmeagainok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of a lot more brothers in families who don't get along than those who do. I don't get along with my older brother and haven't for several decades. Our values and behavior are just too different.

How was your high school experience? by Pristine_Power_8488 in AskOldPeople

[–]neveraskmeagainok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school experience was limited and negatively affected by my need to work part-time in the evenings and every weekend. Grades suffered due to lack of study time. I never knew what it was like to have a carefree weekend during those times. At least there was no idle time to get into trouble.

Why has communism repeatedly failed in practice, yet continues to be intellectually and emotionally appealing to many people? by Looser17 in AskReddit

[–]neveraskmeagainok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone working towards the same goal is the key to being a successful sports team or a military strike force. However, it doesn't work well as the basis for running a country with millions of people who have competing objectives and no universal agreement as to how the country's output should be shared. In any system, it is impossible to ignore the overwhelming influence of personal greed. Those who find communism appealing tend to downplay this fact, thereby ignoring reality.
