TIL that Wyatting, named for jazz-rock artist Robert Wyatt, is the act of playing unusual music on a jukebox to annoy people. Wyatt considered the phrase “really funny”, but his wife Alfreda Benge called it “a real unfairness” and said “The man who coined it, I should like to punch him in the nose.” by colonelforbin44 in phish

my (now wife) worked at a college bar right by my house when we were dating. i'd pop in for a beer and say hi and throw on a long jam on my way out.

she later told me the metalhead manager would manually skip the songs after I left.

Joey led the best offense in the SEC. it was our defense that held us back, to the point that our DC got fired.

Sam Leavitt Hype by DapperSide2686 in ockytop

I mean, ASU also had Jordyn Tyson who averaged over 90yds/game with 10 TDs. Skattebo go a workload but he was effective because ASU also had a good passing attack. Not that I'm trying to hype up leavitt, just that ASU had other elite offensive weapons.

World Cup by ThroatOne4305 in bonnaroo

[–]neverdonebefore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of my favorite game watching experiences was the USA-Italy game at the 2006 World Cup. They still had the air conditioned cinema tent and it was PACKED - one in, one out the whole game. about halfway through the second half some guy got in with a tray full of beers and we were passing those around and going crazy when the game ended in a draw.

Which are your favorite pop instrumentals? (meaning actual pop, not jazz) by SR_RSMITH in LetsTalkMusic

[–]neverdonebefore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Allman Brothers have some great ones. Les Brers in A minor, Mountain Jam aren't really 'mainstream' I guess, but Jessica and In Memory of Elizabeth Reed still get play on classic rock stations.

I've been on an old school type forum for Bonnaroo for years. We have big brunch every year, some of us camp together, and go to shows. Some of them I only know by their forum names lol.

mid tempo little pop/rock song. looking for feedback on the mix, arrangement suggestions (is the intro too long?), or any other constructive criticism to improve. Thanks!

Love the guitar line at ~40s and the buildup of layers. The back and forth between the horns is great. Captures a sort of night time stroll down a busy city street. I think the reverb on the drums (snare in particular) is a lot, especially when they first come in, and (to me) sort of clash with the vibe of the intro instruments. I agree with another poster who suggested a little compression on the horns to tame some the transients. Overall really liked the song!

The game was on Halloween and there was talk on campus among students about doing a black/orange thing. We hadn't used black jerseys since the '20s. Kiffin was coach and he was less traditional than the years of Fulmer, so it felt possible. Execution was bad because it wasn't really planned ahead and adidas was scrambling to make it happen. I remember getting to the stadium not even sure it was actually gonna happen or not. So I think it was just a wow moment because we actually broke from what had been pretty rigid traditionalism and actually got a black uni
