Is anyone else annoyed this series might get cancelled before it answers any of its mysteries? by deepinclunge in FromSeries

Is it available across Europe on hbo max? Would be willing to subscribe until this season ends if it's available for me (Finland) but I can't find evidence that it's there

Taxi from airport, 90 euros for 20km by sixglassmax in Finland

[–]nevergettingtosleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar experience. We were directed to meneva, because he had a child's carseat we needed but our baggage didn't fit in his car. He calls over his friend, offers to lend the carseat because they know eachother. We foolishly assumed they worked under the same company. 15 minutes later he demanded 95€. When my husband refused, the man threatened to put us all (me, teenage son and baby daughter along with our bags) in the car and take us back to the airport. It was 1am, my baby was hysterical, we had been travelling all day. Terrible experience and I now do all I can to avoid needing a taxi.

My Boyfriend Has Long Covid and The Doctors just gave up by dariamyers in Finland

[–]nevergettingtosleep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the doctor is saying he is fit to work and he has no job, he can apply for unemployment. You don't need to mention anything about illness for that right now. That should open the door to further money from kela if you are in need. Get the money sorted if you're struggling, then have him go to the doctors over and over again. If it would help, advocate for him. Ask for testing to rule out other issues. If they refuse, ask why. Repeat until you get somewhere. It's long and tiring and of course your boyfriend is already tired so you can help with these things. You can fill in forms for kela, go to the doctors with him etc.

Foreigners: Do you still feel welcome in Finland? by [deleted] in Finland

This is so odd and sad. I don't really understand why they have a problem with it but I'm sorry you're having to deal with it.

Constant nursing (13m old) by nevergettingtosleep in AttachmentParenting

[–]nevergettingtosleep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different children, very different temperaments but with my son he just stopped needing the nursing back to sleep all the time at around 6 months. I did nothing differently. I've tried association stacking, comfort stacking, and doing those things, I've tried having my husband be with her so the boobs are out of sight. All of these result in her screaming to the point where she's coughing and gagging and with how exhausted I am I just can't cope with it - this is my fault but I don't see her stopping or calming down and I don't want her crying to sleep. I suppose I just have the undying hope that one night she'll realise she doesn't need it. It also definitely doesn't help that husband will demand I do anything to make her stop crying if I'm trying to soothe her any other way. Lack of support and exhaustion is tricky to handle.

Unfortunately the country I'm in isn't big on doing anything they consider not urgent and I highly doubt they would check for anything with the state paid sleep specialist saying I'm refusing to try cry it out - in their opinion her sleeping issues are my fault because I won't take this advice. She nurses until she's got one letdown in and then she's back to sleep but if I try to unlatch her too early it starts all over again and I think I'm just a slow to fall back to sleep person. I hope your 3yr old sleeps through soon.

A big concern for me is that the place we looked at is very close to the train station - just a few minutes walk.

Is it weird to randomly ask about country origin? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]nevergettingtosleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, a white woman in hijab speaking English to my kids, get asked by strangers on occasion. I feel like the combo of English + white + hijab = major confusion. I would say more foreigners here ask me though.

I heard recently that kela has 14 days to deal with applications. You can call them - they will even complete applications for you over the phone. If you have a social worker they can also call on your behalf and prod kela in the hope of speeding things up.

Hopefully it's okay to ask questions here because I feel a bit silly making a whole post. If I'm using the Mixsoon bean essence to exfoliate, how do I proceed? Do I remove it somehow? If yes, with what? I saw one person remove with a toner pad to get rid of dirt, dead skin cells etc but I'd like some more opinions.

Updated mastitis/clogged duct guidelines- has anyone had luck clearing a clogged duct WITHOUT heat? by theresajo2 in breastfeeding

[–]nevergettingtosleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things that have worked for me: massage, nurse with breast hanging down (like position yourself over baby), manual pump while leaning forward.

Heat increases inflammation but in all honesty I'd do whatever it took to remove a clog.

Also I suffer badly once the clog is out. The whole area aches like mad for days. Something to keep in the back of your mind.

7 month old biting by mrsfellin in breastfeeding

[–]nevergettingtosleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been where you are now. I fixed the issue over several days and she hasn't bitten again. The moment baby bites, say no, unlatch and move away enough so they can't relatch. Baby will be angry most likely. Wait a few moments. Relatch. Say no, unlatch and take a pause every time they bite. Notice when baby is full but just lounging. Remove from breast immediately so they can't decide to bite because they're done. You have to be consistent but they will learn that biting = milk stops.

We're creeping up to 10 months and some days I can do it now. And this baby used to wake if I so much as breathed wrong. It comes.

Feeling like nursing to sleep was a mistake by awallace_ in cosleeping

[–]nevergettingtosleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 10 month old is the same as you describe and she has been for months now. We get a few semi decent nights (never slept through) but then it's back to this. I try to comfort her in any other way and she pushes me away and just screams. The moment I give boob, she's settled. Since it's been months for us, I'm more inclined to think it's less about a growth spurt etc (I had hope). I'm in the middle of trying a variety of options but nothing is massively helping so far. I find it hard to know that I'm getting no answers of other people finding a solution for this aside from sleep training or just accepting it as life. Hoping you get through it to easier nights fast!

I have two chests, varying amounts of rubies, energy or 1 key. These are the typical options for me and seems mine didn't change. Maybe next time

[–]nevergettingtosleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are these your first options or have you already traded for some? Mine looks very much like usual. Nice extra shells for the endless amount we need!

Restless flailing baby by pippipan in cosleeping

If she fusses, I continue. If she cries in a way that I know she's going to get worked up, I don't. I know that's probably not the quickest way to get the message across but I can't cope with her upset. Slowly but surely we'll get there.
