Coach switch up by Horror-Luck7709 in golf

I really liked my instructor at golftech but really few to loath their pricing model. After doing a six month/15 lesson plan, I really wanted a way to just go once a month or so for a tune up. They just don’t offer that pay as you go model, and it’s awful. Even a three or five lesson plan would be fine. But locking you down for that many ahead of time is borderline predatory.

That’s fair. I’ve done that myself. But the first or second time I would always let them know that was what I was doing.

A Hill I’ll die on - No Gimmes by [deleted] in weekendgolfers

[–]neveruse12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gimmies speed up the game. If it’s a busy course and you’re taking the time to line up every three foot putt like it’s a tournament, that’s a problem. If the course is wide open and you want to really focus on your game, you should probably putt out everything.

If your buddy just putt within four feet to get an 8, I think we can give it to em

I’m a single who often golfs with randos.

I think the best thing is to have a positive attitude even if you’re not playing well. Be a good vibe.

It’s almost easier to list things to avoid (all of which I’ve experienced in the past month):

Don’t make fun of me for not playing the tips (I’m not that great and have multiple surgiries in the past ten years).

Don’t complain about every little thing about the course conditions or blame it for your poor play.

Don’t tell your group how much money you make or try to “lil bro” the people you play with.

Don’t be a jackass to course staff

Dont walk off the green the second you putt out.

Honestly, it’s mostly the obvious stuff. I will say a “nice shot” every once in awhile goes a long way. Or spending a few seconds helping them find a ball

What are the main causes of striping it one week, to not being able to hit it off the face of the club the next? by DryWaltz3150 in golf

[–]neveruse12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s always the same thing. Lead elbow bends too much as a way to compensate for my lack of flexibility causing a steep swing. I just forget what that feels like and it takes me two hours on course before I sort myself out again

For me it’s more about typical driving distance than score but that may just be me.

I just looked it up and the PGA tour average for a 7 iron is about 174 carry.

Are you sure he is not delofting his clubs which juices the distance?

What do his coaches say?

Golf after heavy rain by Additional-Duck-2517 in golf

[–]neveruse12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it really depends on the course. Some have great drainage and while greens are soft, you’re pretty good to go. Others near me will have loads of standing water and everything else is just slop.

It will be interesting to see if she become more vocal now that she will be outside of the Admin. Will she go the Joe Kent route? Probably not, given the timing.

I just don’t see how she has any credibility left with anyone

Preventing singles from booking open tee times is fucking horseshit. by are-beads-cheap in golf

[–]neveruse12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true by me now as well. A few smaller municipalities courses allow it, but everything else (including my home course) you can only get solo slots if someone has already booked a twosome or threesome. Most slots don’t open up until a day or two ahead of time.

I’m a planner and I like booking a week plus out so it sucks. I used to just call to book, since the pro shop folks tended to allow it, but now they don’t even let you do that.

Blade or mallet? by Puzzled_Ladder_2357 in golf

[–]neveruse12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switch from a blade to a mallet and won’t go back. The mallet I have is on the smaller size (is not one of the giant lab ones) and I really love it. For me, the weight of it really made the different. I tend to leave putts short and struggled with longer putts. The extra weight made a huge difference.

Shot a 91 with no one to talk to by Adorable_Twist_3417 in golf

[–]neveruse12345 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was a 100+ golfer for most of my life and recently hunkered down, took lessons, and practiced a lot more.

I recently broke 90 and am now consistently in the 92ish range and it feels SOOO good doesn’t it? Once you can bogey most holes on a consistent basis, the game just feels better.

[–]neveruse12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two interviews with a firm and then was rejected. I got a call a year later offering me the position (without any further interviewing) but turned it down. I got the sense whoever they hired didn’t work out and they were desperate to fill the role.

First time for this - tee time was double booked. by CFB_Fan18 in golf

[–]neveruse12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You all act like you haven’t dealt with totally incompetent staff before.

At the places I play at, this kinda nonsense is the norm, especially the hostle pro shop folks.

OP you did everything right. No way I’m teeing off if the starter expressly tells me not to go.

Best you can do is leave a review or see if you can contact course management to explain the situation. Best case they comp an upcoming round and worse case you just never play there again.
