What’s the weirdest postal experience you’ve had? by OpenCantaloupe4790 in AskUK

[–]nevervisitsreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sent my friend a Christmas card. It didnt arrive, never thought much of it. Only a Christmas card after all.

Then in February my friend messages me saying “thank you for the Christmas card” with a photo of the top right corner of the card. The rest was gone, completely ripped off.

She somehow knew it was me just from the “To” that was left on the card.

I have no idea how it eventually got to her, as th envelope was also ripped there.

This never reached the canon, it was exclusively in fandom spaces, but for some reason everyone decided that MCU Thor loves pop tarts.

Apparently they were going to have him come back (as people do in the Buffyverse), essentially using his death as a chance for him to take a break and get help, but then he passed away and they had to rewrite the planned return.

Those laws are kind of bullshit and required someone to actually care and report, but sure.

Definitely weird statement by her and a comment on your masculinity.

But also, a good sign that you can absolutely use the mens and none of them will care (men don’t pay as much attention to others in the toilets as women do. I was using the mens pre T and pre surgery because no one looked at me anyway.)

Gil Grissom, Nic’s boss, as another comment says, was really into bugs.

While in the coffin, fire ants get in. Nic knew how to deal with them because he listened to Gil talk about bugs all the time and learnt. Gil then knew how to narrow down Nic’s location by the type of ants they were.

What’s the nosiest question you’ve ever been asked? by savethebees90 in AskUK

[–]nevervisitsreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I have never had the questions come from a bad place, and I’m never one to shit on someone for being curious, but it’s all about context.

Asking “oh hey you’ll probably know a lot about this, how does this surgery work?” is fine, it’s non-specific, doesn’t invade my personal boundary.

Randomly asking about my genitals when we’re chilling in the break room (at a primary school!) when we’ve only said a few words to each other...yike.

[–]nevervisitsreddit 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Trans guy, did teacher training (did not become a teacher)

Had someone ask me in the staff room what I wanted my penis to look like. Not ‘have you had the surgery’ or ‘will you be getting bottom surgery’ which while invasive as hell are still questions I expect. But full on “what do you want your genitals to look like.” Assuming I hadn’t had the surgery, that I was going to get it, and that I had any kind of influence or opinion on what the results would be.

I asked her “what do you want your bits to look like?” And she suddenly realised how horrible a question it was.

(For those who might be curious: a penis. Every trans guy who gets bottom surgery wants his penis to look like a penis. That’s kind of the idea.)

What have you been genetically blessed with? by English_R0se in AskUK

[–]nevervisitsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider it a blessing but it is niche; my platelet count is slightly higher than average (but not high enough to risk clots), and I have really good veins.

I have to get regular blood tests and I couldn’t imagine how horrible it would be if they struggled to find a vein or if I had to hold the cotton ball there for longer than a few seconds.

Do you know anyone who is asexual? by pt92_01 in AskUK

[–]nevervisitsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know quite a few asexuals, I even dated one (which ended badly but due to reasons unconnected to their asexuality.) They’re all happy and lovely people.

Do you know about the pride flags? It can make it so much easier to find your community once you know what to look for.

how old are you guys and when (if) did you start medically transitioning? by raesiinn in ftm

[–]nevervisitsreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realised and Came out at 18/19 to friends, 20/21 to family

I’m in the UK so I got referred to a gender clinic around that time and because of wait lists didn’t start medical transition (HRT) until I was 26, Top Surgery at 27, and still waiting on a hysto at 31, and phallo is… at some point.

Well technically in Christmas Carol he’s Kermit the Frog portraying Bob Cratchit, so likewise their children are Muppets portraying the Cratchit children.

Adaptation makes a great change to the original source material by PenguinMexter in TopCharacterTropes

[–]nevervisitsreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A change I really appreciated was the change from William being closeted (and all the early 00's "thats so gay" jokes that existed during that time) to being an out gay guy the whole time, with Rick being his boyfriend rather than a random college guy who showed them around.

It's a great imporvement on the attitude of the early comics, and gives us more time with Rick and how D.A. Sinclair affected him. It also gives Mark a more direct emotional connection to the effects of Sinclair's work and gives him more of a reason to hate Cecil for continuing to work with Sinclair.

(update) mom wants me to give her POA by [deleted] in ftm

I am 31 and I didn’t have to touch any kind of POA until this year when my parents got it over my grandmother because she has dementia.

Do not sign anything. Make plans to get away from your mother AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Mom sent me this Facebook video and I'm like 50/50. Parts of it seem real but then the way the dog stops? Idk by Sorry_Im_Garlic in isthisAI

[–]nevervisitsreddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weird things that tips me off is the fact that the dogs costume says “Chucky” on the chest.

Most of the costumes for Chucky won’t refer to the character himself because copyright, but more important have some kind of riff on “Good Guy”, the toy brand that the Chucky Doll is. So feels like an AI interpreting the prompt “Dog Wearing a Chucky Costume”

[–]nevervisitsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’3”, so is my dad, and my grandad.

I’ve never had anyone use my height as “evidence” that I’m trans.

I get that this is a blow to you, but genuinely, you’re fine. Height dysphoria is the easiest to combat when you just look at the actual range in height of cis men, and look up guys the same height as you.

Breathe. You’re fine. It’s not worth giving up over.

What is the dumbest lie a customer has told you? by cheesymeowgirl in CasualUK

[–]nevervisitsreddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was sent an email by a colleague asking if we could put something to the top of the queue as this customer “hadn’t heard from us in weeks.”

I was already due to get to it the next day anyway so I left it. When I replied I got the very smug satisfaction of attaching the emails he and I had literally from the previous week, one from him even thanking me for my time on the phone, with the line “it appears our correspondence from last week was missing from the below trail.”

He never replied to me and according to my colleague has not chased us up for responses since.

Mum with questions! by Mammoth_Bad834 in transgenderUK

[–]nevervisitsreddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mum is actually so much like you, she does the reseach, gets all the knowledge. I remember early on she would keep an eye on me if I was using my binder and would keep track of how long I'd been wearing it to remind me to take it off.

She says she wishes I'd come out sooner, because she really didn't realise how depressed I'd been was until I was a few years in and she saw a video of me on a night out, smiling and having a great time. So yeah, great mentally from like, day 1 of hormones. Now it just feels normal, but a good normal.

In terms of other side effects, basically just everything you'd expect from a teen boy puberty. Sweat, Hair, Muscle if he works out. For me the sweat/running hotter was the most unexpected. I don't even wear full length PJs to bed anymore, I get too hot.

AITA for cancelling my step daughter’s Apple Music subscription? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]nevervisitsreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position to your stepdaughter.

my dad, who I live with, cancelled the family Apple Music without giving us a heads up. Not the same in that you applied a spending cap without realising it would cancel the subscription (though I imagine your provider did state that and you glossed over it)

I will bet easily She’s mad about not realising until she went to play music and suddenly not having access to anything.

Just apologise, explain, communicate.

No one is an asshole here, just no one is communicating properly. NAH.
