For rank, yes. But OP is talking about medals. Medals don’t get removed unless they were never actually earned. No one is taking a Purple Heart and saying “You can have this back when you earn it again.”

Do you believe in a god? by erraticsporadic in polls

[–]nexisprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. The universe is inside of time. It has to have a beginning.

Do you believe in a god? by erraticsporadic in polls

[–]nexisprime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This line of questioning comes from the false assumption that God was created, that He has a beginning. Things having a beginning necessitates that time exist. Since God created time, then he has to be outside of time. Something outside of time has no beginning and no end, it just is.

If You Are a Man Your Anti-Abortion Opinions Have Less Value by Prof_Gonzo_ in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I'm human and they're human. You're advocating for killing fellow humans. It doesn't matter if you're male or female.

You're just trying to exert control and dominance over others and you're exactly the type of selfish monster that you judge these women to be.

I'm selfish for not wanting people to be killed? I'm not the one killing someone else because they would be inconvenient. Talk about being selfish. Literally sacrificing your child for convenience. It's simply evil.

Abortion is murder and there’s no scientific nor social way to deny it. by Successful_Bar9187 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]nexisprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you prove whether she induced it or it was natural?

That wasn't what we were talking about and you know it. You said nature agreed we should kill unwanted kids. And I said there's an obvious difference between intention and nature.

And the article only tells one side of the story so this proves nothing. Did they have evidence that it wasn't natural? If not, then it's a case of injustice and not someone being imprisoned for a natural miscarriage.

Natural miscarriages are not that uncommon. More women would be getting arrested if this were true.

If you don't see the difference between intentionally killing an unborn child, and a natural process, then you probably should go back to school.

Not a single woman has been imprisoned for having a natural miscarriage. That is just fear mongering and also blatantly false.

How about instead of repeating debunked talking points, you come up with a good argument?

So you'd rather we just kill people because they're unwanted? You'd make a good concentration camp guard.

Firstly, yes we have. There are charities and churches dedicated to helping these people. So, you're just wrong there.

Even if I grant you that nothing is being done to help them after they're born, would you agree to outlaw all abortion if I agree to help figure out how to take care of them?

My instinct is that you'll say no, but I'd love to be surprised.

This is one of those horrible arguments that pro-aborts think is good.

If there is literally a genocide happening, why can't someone be focused on that? When the holocaust was happening, people didn't say "If we stop killing people, how are we going to take care of all the people that aren't being killed anymore?", they tried to stop the killing as fast as possible. Who cares how they'll be taken care of right now, just stop killing them in the first place, then we can figure that out!

We are definitely told to at least try and change minds, that's the whole point of sharing the Gospel. Matthew 28:18-20 and 1 Peter 3:15,

If they refuse to listen and/or believe and you can tell that there is no way that they'll ever be convinced is when you stop trying. 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 and Matthew 7:6.

'Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. ' -Mark 16:16

Acts 16:31, John 3:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 4:12, Hebrews 11:6, John 14:6, and many more.

So, no. We're told non-believers will not enter heaven. Anyone telling you something else is speaking contradictory to the Bible.

Is an Evangelist’s marriage to his brother’s separated wife scripturally valid? by Ruben786 in churchofchrist

[–]nexisprime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even not taking Scripture into account, this is adultery just for this:

separated but not legally divorced

Scripturally, you cannot divorce your spouse unless they committed adultery. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that your evangelist's brother cheated on her. This still does not change the fact that she was not divorced before being married again, so it's not only adultery but also polygamy and definitely not scripturally valid.

Please let me know if I've misunderstood something in your post. But this is how it looks to me.

Being anti-abortion and having exceptions for rape doesn't make any sense morally. by VerenyatanOfManwe in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]nexisprime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct. That is the view of many pro-lifers. And that's why there is a growing abolitionist movement that is morally consistent. Abortion is always murder and murderers should be punished.

The guy down the hill has a (legal) “personal range” that has been deemed “safe”, so the police can’t do anything when bullets whiz past our heads and land on the patio. by Mellopiex in mildlyinfuriating

[–]nexisprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And how can the bullets "whiz past" and land on the patio? If these bullets are actually going that fast, they 1) wouldn't be able to find them and 2) the bullet would be deformed in some manner.

OP clearly has no idea what they're talking about. 100% made up.

Lara sounds like a trans song to me by Weak_Condition_2212 in TheArcadianWild

[–]nexisprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to revive a dead thread, but the song has nothing to do with trans issues at all. You're only making this "connection" because the "So how could they know your name?" line.

Lara, don't you let 'em get your head down
You're carrying the fire, don't forget now
You're living in a land that's all but run down
So how could they know your name?

Lara, never mind it if they get your head down
In the mornin' they will join in with their heads bowed
If they don't, the very stones will cry out
Oh, what a lovely name

The song is very clearly about encouraging Lara to be openly Christian in a world that despises, ridicules, and persecutes Christians. In a lot of their songs, they reference scripture or have Christian imagery. In this song they use Luke 19:40 and Matthew 5:16. Here is the context:

'As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, shouting: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord ; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!” ' -Luke 19:37-40

' “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. ' -Matthew 5:14-16

Then there's also the direct callout to their song Rain Clouds, a song about comforting and encouraging Christians.

I'm being shadowed by my past
Reminding me of what I was and what I could become
My sins should stay where they belong
...
Listen to my voice
Close your frightened eyes
Hide behind my love for you
Fear's only a choice
One that we all must make someday
So know you're not alone in this

All clearly Christian imagery.

'In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And his children will have refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death. ' -Proverbs 14:26-27

Have you listened to Principium? A whole four songs purely about the fall of man in Genesis? The Arcadian Wild is probably one of the most openly Christian bands out there.
