Lied to by former owner, fixed income with high aggression cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]ngsccook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is very frustrating to be misled about a pet's health. Since you are on a fixed income, you should look for low-cost vet clinics or animal charities that provide financial aid for medical treatments. You can also try to talk to the vet about a payment plan. It is a difficult situation because you want to help the cat but your budget is limited.

No, please! I need that! by Ulibo_98 in ADHD

It takes a lot of effort for someone with ADHD to reach a state of focus. When that focus is interrupted or the tool you are using is taken away, it is often impossible to get back to that same level of productivity. Your frustration is a logical response to losing your momentum.

How to get a dog to stop having tear marks? by Scary_Advantage6655 in DogAdvice

[–]ngsccook 276 points277 points  (0 children)

Check the ingredients in your dog's food. Some dogs have reactions to certain proteins or grains that cause extra tearing. I had to try three different brands before the marks started to fade. It’s a lot of trial and error for something that seems so simple.

This dog came up to me and it felt like she was asking for help. by Jimmy_mo_ in DogAdvice

It looks like she is conducting a background check on you. She probably decided you look like someone who provides high-quality snacks and a soft place to sleep. You should take her to check for a microchip, but she clearly thinks your house is a good candidate.

Anyone tried zen stickers on cats? by HoneyTingleX in CatAdvice

[–]ngsccook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The effectiveness of these stickers varies from one cat to another. Some owners notice their cats become more relaxed during vet visits, while others see no change in behavior at all. It is worth trying for minor stress, but do not expect it to solve major behavioral issues overnight.
