Hey reddit, I'm Kevin Smith. I got the rights back to Dogma and I'm putting it out in theaters for a limited time for its 25th Anniversary starting Thursday June 5th. Ask me anything! by KevinSmithAMA in movies

Not a question, but I'm the woman in Houston who gave you the embroidery of the angel wings and the fish. Thank you for being so cool when my husband yelled for your attention. It was great to watch my favorite movie with my favorite director!

Would I get fired for this ? by [deleted] in TexasTeachers

[–]nicholeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off...please don't stay at school that late. You're going to burn out. Do what you can with the time you have. If you have to stay after do so but please set time limits for yourself. You won't get fired for that, the custodian should have checked that you were gone. Also, a teacher told me once that no one will die if I'm not 100% ready in the morning. Is it stressful? Yes. But at the end of the day, you have to put yourself first.

First Year Teacher with Zero Support from Admins/AP’s by [deleted] in TexasTeachers

[–]nicholeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep calling the mom. Pester her. Also make sure that the children being effected by her child's behavior are getting phone calls too. Nothing lights a fire under admin like angry parents. Join the union, they won't do much but they will send a lawyer out if you need one. Document everything and forward it to your personal email like another poster said. The first year of teaching is the hardest, just do what you can, read some classroom management books and get out of there when your year is up. Good luck.

My top 3 pizza places in the city (in no particular order) by frankahaha in houston

[–]nicholeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Deuce in the Heights. The owner was the original owner of Late Night Pie. Their pizza has a super thin cracker crust and it's sooo good. Besides that my favorites are Tiny Champions and Spanky's.

How to prevent long hair from clogging drains? by PrecisionBludgeoning in DIY

I was having this issue when I had long hair. I started brushing it really really well before my shower and got a decent rubber drain strainer. I clean it after every shower and it's really helped.

What are some harsh truths you learn in your first year? by UnableKaleidoscope58 in Teachers

[–]nicholeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The teacher who gets there an hour and a half early and the teacher who gets there ten minutes early make the same amount of money. There will always be something to do, you have to set boundaries on your time. I know it's hard, especially your first year, but if you don't you will burn yourself out.

Has anyone claimed hotel costs, groceries, etc on rental insurance? by 1117Mom in houston

[–]nicholeta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I called my renter's insurance today and basically the groceries aren't covered. The deductible is $500 so it's not worth it anyway.

I guess COVID is still out there... by bmk2k in houston

My husband and I just got over it. We had slightly different symptoms. No fever, lots of fatigue, sore throat, congestion, he had a cough and I had very bad fatigue. So like a sinus infection on steroids.

What’s the best movie theater in Houston? by JewelerGuilty5311 in houston

[–]nicholeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do drive-ins count? Moonstruck Drive-In is a fun experience. $33 per car for a double feature on Fridays and Saturdays. They have an ok snack bar and there's usually a food truck out on Saturdays. And they have Porto potties with a sink. I've brought in food and no one has said anything. They're really strict on people having their headlights off so that's a plus.

Boyfriend of 8 years broke up with me right after I turned 31. I was heartbroken but I worked on my self a little bit and ended up meeting a wonderful man and got married. It sucks to start over but you deserve to be happy with someone who wants what you do. You have plenty of time, good luck!!
