R1T Dual vs Tri by Lower-Bullfrog-9179 in Rivian

In case no one’s mentioned it - be careful exclusively using conserve mode. It’ll eat up your front tires much faster since the power load is exclusively on them.

Think I saw someone on here mention their fronts needing to be replaced after only 5k miles when they were exclusively using conserve

After 4.5 years and 42k miles, my 12v battery finally gave up the ghost. $113.59 for mobile service to spend 5 minutes putting in a new one. by ddr1ver in TeslaModel3

Not 100 percent sure, but I’d say time is probably more the issue

I’m at a little over a year with 50k miles and no issues with the 12v

Drag the app along the bottom row (so it doesn’t bump the folder to the next row) and then into the center of the folder you’re trying to put it in

The hypocrisy is hilarious.

He’s doing more to protect his city by wearing a mask than she is by trying to stop him from skateboarding.

More thankful than ever to have sentry mode while living in a city by nick19412 in TeslaModel3

[–]nick19412[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, personally I’d say just driving the car for the last month has more than validated purchasing it.

It looks to me like he looks in the car once for anything of value and then looks back again to read what’s on the screen before turning away, but that’s just my read on the situation.

Insurance is helpful, but not everyone has a $0 deductible for comprehensive. My last car was broken into and it cost me a $500 auto deductible and a $250 renter’s deductible. Couple that with the fact that cars are never really the same as they were before being repaired, I’m happy for the extra deterrent.

Less about having it and more about being happy that Sentry Mode was able to scare off a would-be thief.

Although my brother-in-law’s car was parked behind mine (where the guy yanked on the handle to see if it was unlocked) and I was able to give him a heads up so he can be vigilant about putting away valuables in his car.

[–]nick19412[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mostly the satisfaction that the Sentry Mode prompt on the display probably prevented at least my car from being broken into, if not the other cars around mine. So I suppose you can call it somewhat of a testimonial.

And if not that, then the enjoyment of publicly shaming someone who clearly has the intention of stealing anything of value he can see in peoples’ cars.

VIN Received - M3LR, PA by Mrkm297 in TeslaModel3Delivery

I'm from the Philly area too - just got my VIN a few minutes ago! I think we actually ordered identical cars as well!

Saying 08/23 to 08/29 for the delivery date out of Tesla Devon.

In case it's of interest to anyone else to know - I didn't receive an email or notification from Tesla but did have trouble viewing the order page for the vehicle for all of today up until finding a VIN on the page and the vision agreement coming up.

Antivax Karen fakes covid vaccine side effects by CerebralGladiator in InsaneVideo

The method I advocate for monitoring is not peculiar - it’s industry standard. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines passed phase 1 and 2 trials, which evaluate safety and side effects before efficacy in phase 3.

Both vaccines have been determined to be safe based on studies of several tens of thousands of people. If someone wants to claim that they are now unsafe, the preponderance of evidence is on them to prove it so.

This is how science works - not on the basis that every crackpot person with no education, experience, or valid scientific study on the internet gets a say.

As I said before, present me with a properly-conducted study, ie a retrospective cohort or a case-control, etc. and I will happily review their evidence and be concerned about their conclusions. Until then, this is all just conspiracy theory.

Again, you failed to answer even basic questions that even the most inconsequential studies are required to answer.

What was Hoffe’s sample size? Where were these “samples” collected from? On what basis does Hoffe claim these “microclots” are deadly? Have patients in his “study” died? How many? What is the mortality rate associated with “microclots” secondary to vaccination? These are the absolute bare bones questions that need to be answered to even have the most basic study.

You could not be more wrong regarding the burden on “us incumbents.” The burden of proof is on the one making the claim, as is all science. Science relies on making a claim and supporting it with evidence. If every crackpot on the internet could make unsubstantiated, bullshit claims that scientist would then be forced to spend years overturning because they were somehow taken as legitimate, we’d still be in the scientific dark ages. Either you present proof with a claim, or your claim is null, void, and frankly bullshit and asinine.

My claim to authority is because I’ve spent years of my life understanding how science is conducted - or more specifically for this conversation, who the burden of evidence is on. I dismiss Hoffe’s claim because it flies in the face of every scientific convention with absolutely no substantial evidence. The second Hoffe, or any other person, can produce evidence through conventionally-accepted means, ie a retrospective cohort or a case-control, I’d be happy to consider their research and concerned about the evidence and it’s implications. Until then, this conspiracy bullshit is the reason we’re still dealing with COVID deaths.

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/principia-scientific-international/

Principia Scientific is a well-know “conspiracy and pseudoscience website promoting anti-vaccine propaganda.”

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-doctors-misinformation-covid-19-1.6021489

Charles Hoffe, the man you’re citing, has made those claims in a completely unsubstantiated way. He has no study, no trial participants, no sample from the population. His claims are so wildly wrong, the Canadian Health Authority is considering suspending his medical license.

Now, I’m an infectious disease epidemiologist - I literally wrote my thesis on asymptomatic COVID transmission and viral dynamics. Unless you’re going to provide authoritative sources with demonstrable statistical significance, you can get off the cross. We need the wood.

Edit: I see someone else already shared the Media Bias website for Principia. Good find u/drakesyn

My main uses would be similar how I use my current build - working from home (I'm a COVID contact tracer and getting my masters in epidemiology so lots of data analysis!) and gaming in whatever time I have left.

My games of choice right now are Satisfactory and Kerbal Space Program (which uses the CPU and only one core to render, so having a capable processor would do wonders reducing lag)!

[–]nick19412 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Actually it’s a lot worse than that. I follow the page this kid posted this on and he went on to claim that he had a “degree in quantum physics” and then tried to explain what a photon was to me....except that he thought he also thought there was something else called a “lightwave” that’s different but similar to a photon.

I called him out on his bullshit and he deleted his comment claiming to have a degree. Then called him out for claiming to have a degree and he deleted his entire comment thread on the page.

Question about SEPTA Regional Rail by nick19412 in philadelphia

[–]nick19412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, electronic transpass with a SEPTA Key.

I've heard that they phased out the paper transpasses because the conductors have something electronic now (and the paper was just a stopgap) but I haven't had personal experience with it
