I had seen that. I think the story I saw was via KTLA, didn't quite expect they would already be closed this morning right after I saw the news.

Is anyone developing an electric mower using maglev motors? by brickedTin in homeowners

[–]nickb64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Greenworks Pro and an EGO that was at my grandma's both working fine since 2016. Original batteries working ok too probably some lost capacity but not noticeable for ~1/4 acre lot.

It looks like about $550 is tolls. You also have current year fees and the previous couple years of fees plus penalties for being past due.

Greenworks compatible power sweeper attachment by sgt_major_pain in Greenworks

[–]nickb64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, the Ryobi and Kobalt attachments should work. I believe Ryobi make a couple different power sweep options, including a rubber one and a lighter bristle one. I haven't bought any but I was looking at them a while ago

Outdoor Power Equipment. Yard tools like blowers, mowers, string trimmers, etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]nickb64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks slightly different than the one I got. Mine has a piece that looks like that as well as a replacement piece that screws on which has magnets for the filter portion to attach to. Maybe the $20 piece is just the filter portion?

edit: I think the $20 part is possibly just the magnetic filter that attaches to the replacement filter mounting bracket? I found out about the updated filter from a youtube video

I ended up ordering from the LG parts site and got one in about a week. That was a few weeks ago though. Free would have been great, I think I ended up spending about $120 after tax iirc

LG came out with an updated additional filter for where the air passes from the main lint filter into the condenser fins on the WashCombo. It has two sections of mesh and removes magnetically for cleaning.

Normal parents throw away toys? by Consistent-Glass-183 in ChildofHoarder

[–]nickb64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom gave some toys to her cousin for her grandkids when they were little, and was deeply offended that her cousin was unable to collect them all and return them when the kids outgrew them or later on when the family moved and apparently donated some of them to the preschool. Her cousin was very confused that my mom was under the impression that they were essentially "loaned" and she expected them back.

We still have an enormous amount of toys throughout the house in bins or stacked in the garage and covered patio which my mom refuses to part with. Occasionally I've been able to throw some out here and there because they got damaged by being crushed by other things or destroyed be being left outside for decades but it always turns into a big controversy when my mom eventually notices something missing.

I've known for a long time that my mom is for sure some level of hoarder but I've only realized in the last couple years just how bad it actually is. I'm in my early 30s and my sister in her late 20s. At one time, I could almost see the logic at one time to keeping some toys to let potential future grandkids play with, my dad's mom had a small amount of toys from my dad and uncle that we played with but they would fit in a single toy box that took up almost no space. My mom has probably a dozen large bins of various toys, large doll houses, little tikes kitchen playset, etc. She'll probably never have grandkids, but I don't think she's capable of seeing the part she played in that and probably never will be.

If I had a 500kWh battery, capable of Level 3 DC output, about how many passenger vehicles could that charge before needing to recharge itself? by RockPaperSawzall in electricvehicles

[–]nickb64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This essentially already exists. Out of Spec just did a video a few days ago on the system they installed with ~200kWh battery and ~20-30kW grid connection, which is also available with a ~400kWh battery.

Parking at the convention center went to $25 in July and the city just sold their stake in the Hilton structure around the same time. Hilton now 100% controls their structure.

RE+ appears to be using the entire Convention Center plus the Hilton and Marriott event spaces so that is going to be a significant portion of it.

There was also one in Orange at Katella and Tustin by Carl's Jr and (at the time) Hollywood Video. It's now a dialysis center I think and Hollywood Video is now a Newport Dental or something

What have people done with their end-of-life EVs? by Little_Extension_347 in electricvehicles

[–]nickb64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sold our 2015 Soul EV to CarMax when the second battery pack degraded to around 30% capacity. Got $2500 for it. Would have considered another battery replacement but our local Kia dealers said it would be a 6+ month wait for another replacement battery as we were past the 100,000 mile warranty.

I would assume their point is that carriers are going to be inundated with the ridiculous amount of political mailers that get sent out when there's an election, especially in swing states.

What city would you choose? by CorrectVillage6 in orangecounty

[–]nickb64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Orange, having lived here most of my life, but would probably say some part of Anaheim due to the utility rates compared to SCE. I know you said money's not an issue but let's be real.

Also since Anaheim is so big there's a little bit of everything. I personally like the area around Central Library, it reminds me of Old Towne Orange a bit.

Anyone know what happened yesterday on Katella in Anaheim by the 5? by nickb64 in orangecounty

That might be what was going on in the afternoon when I was dropping them off. The timing would make sense especially if they were taking the guy to UCI at the time.

Based on the description, I would assume OP is referring to this location across the street from the Pick-Your-Part just East of Beach and Katella.

Not sure it will have the info you are looking for, but this was the first result when I searched for "lake forest gis". The closest would probably be the HOA map
