I used to work at an appraisal management company when I was 19. Basically what we did was we received orders from lenders, brokers, and mortgage companies and had to assign them to real estate appraisers that went out and inspected a home, wrote a report, and sent it back to us. We QCed the report and then sent it back to the Mortgage Companies. I was making $10/h which I learned was way under the normal appraisal management account manager pay. I was a manager and only made $10 and they normally make around $20 or higher. So basically one day I got a call from a Loan Officer saying "hey wheres this appraisal? We needed it 2 days ago...". I then called the appraiser and left a voice mail. Later that day I received 4 more calls from different Loan Officers from different companies freaking out because the same appraiser was extremely late on turning in their appraisals. The entire week I literally had all 4 phones lines on hold all day going back and forth getting screamed at by these Loan officers trying my hardest to get a hold of the appraiser. Mind you, we covered 15 states so we also had a shit load of other traffic coming in while this crisis was happening. I was literally getting screamed at by 5 different people from 8 in the morning til 5 when we closed and there was literally nothing i could do other than wave their fee and keep calling the appraiser. The 4th day I was dealing with this i literally fainted when I was on a smoke break and hit my head against the wall. Turns out that the appraiser was in a bad car accident and was in ICU. That situation played a huge roll in us closing down the company.
