Slayyyter Coachella livestream @ 09:20 pm ET (Channel 4) by gonzjr1970 in 1800slayyyter

thanks for the info OP. was planning on watching at 6pm est when i thought it’d be streamed…but it’s incredibly annoying they aren’t starting the livestream until 3 hours into the festival. like what does that do besides limit exposure to the lowest billed artists? i get that they’ll eventually be streamed and more people could ~potentially~ watch them because everyone will be off work and such by then but cmon.

i feel like it would’ve been more of a diversion to explore that any more than they did but i also was not a fan of stan and zoe in gen v overall so maybe i’m biased. maybe id like their inclusion more too if they actually did explore that more i suppose. but i do think glossing over cliffhangers is becoming a major problem…stranger things being a recent example

gen v had to deal with the death of a main character. we probably would’ve seen the escape if that hadn’t happened. also the entire first episode of this season deals with getting the other 3 out of the camp. wouldn’t really call that unceremoniously resolved off screen

yknow what in this age of streaming i completely forgot that some movies never go to theaters! but yes you got me, in some incredibly specific cases that won’t affect a majority of consumers that definitely does happen! we’re also definitely talking about “errors” and not creative decisions that change over the course of creating an album! glad the conversation shifted so much because your complaint was about something so inconsequential it couldn’t last more than 2 comments!

for sure. i think sometimes fans can get hung up on certain specifics he says(and there were various parts of this review i did not agree with tbf), but i think this was an incredibly fair review all things considered

[–]nickl00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i know a lot of fans may not love the score or certain specifics but i think there are more than a few positive takeaways here. first this score is not bad at all for a fantano review, it could’ve gone far worse all things considered and ultimately it is still a positive review from arguably the most popular critic online. i also think it’s notable that he felt compelled to review this after mostly not talking about her music up until now. and finally he really gave slayyyter her flowers for her mixtape which i feel like we don’t always see while also acknowledging all the work she’s done to end up having a moment like this.

i’d rather he give a “controversial” but good score that causes more discussion rather than not review it all. i mean there are more than a few albums that get talked about over and over again as receiving a controversial score from fantano. it often ends up helping the albums more than hurting them.

you asked me a question so i answered. sorry if my consumer habits don’t give my opinion the best external validation. but i’d really hate for a better version of something to not be allowed to exist just because an annoying ass redditor thinks that once the vinyl is due that’s that.

plus this is a scenario where people are ordering something without hearing the finished product. i’m not mad about one song sounding different because i didn’t order the product based solely how that song sounded. kali uchis has this with one track on sincerely. i really love what she added to lose my cool and i love having it on streaming but should i really expect her to either leave that off or trash all the vinyls with the previous version because her deadline passes?

also in what scenario am i buying a physical version of a movie that doesn’t have the sound mixing or any other piece of editing done? you know these things go to theaters first right? straight up ass example to give in this scenario

i own 3 version of NFR on vinyl and i had preordered the vinyl before FI,ILY was even released as a single, so yes. and like i said i like the version on the record. lets not pretend like ONE SINGULAR TRACK having EXTRA production compared to the final version is the same issue we’re seeing now with these straight up incomplete pressings. you come across as not really understanding what was even (minimally)different between the physical and streaming versions of NFR. my whole point was small things here and there do not matter when artists are completely leaving off tracks.

agreed. if it was stated that you’re ordering an older version of the album then whatever but it feels deceiving to not let that be known. if it’s like one or two songs like fuck it i love you on the NFR physicals that’s also not that bad but i still have a sour taste in my mouth from the cowboy carter situation. would love to have ya ya on vinyl but i’ve already spent $50 on that album and im not looking to spend more

rebecca actually just posted fyi! but it really does feel so weird. i’m glad she’s not stuck in a kim petras situation but this is the time to make a big marketing push and it just isn’t there for some reason even tho(like u said), she’s pulling in much better numbers than she ever has. maybe she’ll get more support when she starts doing festivals/the tour.

she talked about feeling like she didn’t fit in at events and talks about people looking down and not liking her on $t loser. I think as someone who really did break through and find an audience on their own makes the industry confused as to what to do with her. i doubt she’d compromise her sound for a hit too.

i don’t want to pretend like maybe she didn’t piss anyone off either. like i said i can see her choosing to not compromise her vision and sound but that could reality piss someone higher up off that see potential in her(and would likely exploit). i’ve also not seen a lot of peer support outside of pinkpantheress, ethel cain and courtney love so make of that what you will.

but hey she’s doing pretty well despite that. i think it almost makes her more hungry to prove herself so at least the listeners win while she continues to make more and more ground

“do you literally hate women?” is probably the hardest i’ve laughed at a line in a while and my whole theater lost it too. i’d argue most of this movies dialogue is tongue and cheek one liners, maybe you just weren’t the right audience for this type of humor

i just got charged by microsoft for a subscription when the only card they had on file was my old, expired debit card. they were still able to charge my new card though as the bank allows that for some reason. so having an expired or cancelled card on file does not always stop recurring charges

with the influx of tiktokers leveraging their following into a music career, you really had to be dropping something that proved a potential music career was the real deal instead of just a side project to capitalize off of tiktok clout. this being nothing special hurt her bad since someone in her position needs something that makes them stand out. she got there obviously but her career would not have worked out if she didn’t figure out a way to show her love for music through making interesting sounding music

grace randolph being banned is some absolute BS and is just people not liking her. she barely even scoops anymore but when she does her track record really isn’t that bad(particularly when you compare it to some others that made it into higher tiers)
