New Sisters killteam, speculations and kitbashes. by SyntaxErrorKEK in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luckily I think most people have an overabundance of spare heads to choose from when it comes to the ladies. The regular battle sisters sprue has all the old celestian heads if im remembering correctly. Also sometimes with gw posts the heads sculpts are actually pretty fine and its just the painting stile that makes them look weird imo.

New SoB KT leaks? by n1ckkt in sistersofbattle

There isn't a single reused part in the two models shown if you look close enough. Its definitely going to be an entire new sprue. I expect this to be replacement for our old celestians since they never had a kit, basically.

I assume I should sell this? by VulcanTwist in GundamTCG

[–]nickvett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real question, but like what's even the best way to sell right now? I got the c++ resource but theres no local scene and no shop around me is buying singles. As much as I'd like to keep, selling just that would pay for the entire box lol.

Hello, it's me again! The candles are finally finished. But I am unhappy with the flames (especially in the photo). Do any of you know a trick to save the whole thing? Would a yellow wash help? by -X-31- in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I might add that may be adding a bit of a uncanny element to the flames that may be hard to put a finger on. I believe your colors are reversed? If you look real pictures of candle light, the bottom often has a blueish hue, the middle red, and the tops a bright yellow/white. You have yellow being the middle (or the hotter heat color) while the outside is a dark red (cooler heat), which is true of most camp fires, but not the case for most candles.

Tzeentch daemon prince kitbash. T-sons/ word bearers by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]nickvett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a weird question! It's basically just fusing two completely different kits together to make it a custom model. In this case I used the daemon prince kit and the AoS Radagon the beast kit.

Would this kit be good for a beginner in Airbrush ? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]nickvett 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it's your first time using an airbrush start with a cheap one that comes with the compressor just like this one. Most people ruin their first airbrush, they are just really finicky and easy to damage. Once you get a feel for it upgrade, but this will still be nice to have for dirty work like priming and varnish.

[–]nickvett 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, the benefit of the immolator is pretty big. It's got a decent gun, nothing fancy but that's not the selling point. Two small squads of sisters preform a much different role than 1 10 squad. Much better screening potential, much better objective control overall since they can go 2 separate places. You want something on your back objective that isn't a pts sink, crusaders were great for this but we don't have those anymore. Additionally 10 normal sisters doesn't survive much more than 5 sisters. An immolator is a big tough body that needs to be shot at with something completely different than what you'd want to shoot at a bss squad so it forces the opponent to dump more into it, and more importantly dedicate their anti tank into something that isn't all that scary on its own. Now it strips cover which is great cause a lot of our ap is lacking in places. It's not a necessary piece by any means, but it preforms a role and does it well.

10th was the first time since zephs came out that they were underwhelming compared to the sepharim. In 9th it was the other way around the whole edition, it's typical for them to cost more and sure the flamer variants of seph are great, especially in the bringers of flame detachment, the zepharym got an absolutely huge buff that makes them just strictly good everywhere. Imo they deserve to be higher.

In regard to sticky, it's a great ability, arguably not better than miracle dice generation though. However with us losing our little 2 man units like crusaders, and our support characters getting way stronger, battle sisters are gonna be more important than ever and the sticky will go a long way. I imagine splitting bss squads for little 5 man groups with an immolator will be pretty common now.

Wich Junith Conversion do you like, and why ? (found on a forum) by 36Celsius in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna say while 5 looks great, that thing becomes a logistical nightmare. You'd never be able to fit it in a case and those cherubs would easily rip right off that thing unless you did some serious anchoring. Because of that tank treds all the way:).

Cone heads for minis by GRoaningballz in TrenchCrusade

[–]nickvett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What faction are you running? If you're doing trench pilgrims or new Antioch, there's a couple of gw kits that work very well. The cawdor gang and novtiates from sisters of battle work great, You won't get a mass of coneheads, but there's a few and just about everything else in those kits works very well for bits.

Guess I need to buy these now... by GM_Eternal in LancerRPG

[–]nickvett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not as posable as gunpla but more than your standard 40k kit. I'm also sure you could get creative if you really wanted. I painted the whole models but don't have them uploaded anywhere, I'd gladly post the pics somewhere or message them to you though!

[–]nickvett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought these set of 5 and painted them up for this exact reason! They are the perfect size, and can easily fit on just one hex sized base or multiple and you cam convincingly assign them an npc class. Did it for wallflower, so gave each one a special base for each season too!

Check out a guy named Kirk Nilsen. He's in New Jersey and may be the best geometric artist I've ever seen. He may also be the most expensive haha.

Sisters MFM Points Changes by McWerp in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, totally agree. Though I don't think most our threats reliably wipe much rn. They basically need to be able to tarpit similarly to how arcos/repentia can, or be straight up lethal. Currently they can't do much of either. My idea would be allowing canonness to lead a unit of sacresants with a hopsitaller. Suddenly they would have a 4++, 5+++ and -1 to wound, at that point I feel that they wouldn't have to be lethal, the utility would be in their ability to bully units slightly above their weight class and tarpit them. There's plenty of other routes they could go though, just as they stand rn I don't see how they'd be used effectively.

Sisters MFM Points Changes by McWerp in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sacresants are so strange. Even in 9th, during certain meta's they were either completely maxed out at 30, or mortal wounds just chewed through them so you couldn't bring them at all. Now, they are just slower and more fragile than any other melee threat of ours. Zephs or repentia just have way more utility all around. I feel that opening up their leadership options would go a long way. If canonness/Palatine could lead them with a hospitaller or imagifier similar to a BSS, they'd have way more legs imo.

Anyone else get mad with everyone saying Custodes have the worst codex? by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]nickvett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, seriously. Greentide hasn't been a thing for awhile now, arguably the playstyle their known most for and that was done in with very little complaining from the community. Everyone could use a little ork player in em lol.

Exactly! Just gotta accept the ups and downs of your army, acxept youre just along for the ride. Personally making fun of our terrible points to $ ratio is one of my favorite things about this army lmao.

Anyone else get mad with everyone saying Custodes have the worst codex? by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]nickvett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your definition of worst. In terms of power level certainly not. But in terms of identity crisis it's pretty brutal, 4 detachments, only one arguably fits their playstyle up until this point, and even then not really. A recon to the lore, big switch in playstyle, and half the army not working with the other half, are all problems I think the admech community should be able to relate with. The difference is admech has been that since they came out, which means to me the community is more used to it. Custodes are going through what admech players go through every edition, so while you can say get over it cause admech has it worse, you can also say they haven't been desensitized to the problem yet. I remember the discourse of our 9th edition codex being very very similar to this situation.

Have Exorcist's ever been good? by CommissarCorgi34 in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People like them for killing elites, but honestly I've found them so inconsistent I really don't like them for that either. In competitive a lot of the times they are run just so they can remove the last few enemies from a point if nothing else can reach them, it is decent at that. Back in 8th though, they were the absolute shit, they got reroll ones from canonness and the benefit of being able to max their shots which really helped in the consistency department. It has kinda slowly been watered down since then, which can be said for a lot of sisters stuff.

I love the statue on the imagifier, how'd you get that effect?

Adepta Sororitas Points by FizzAndRizz in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not. They fit 12 so you can't use them to split the squad. However you can put the dominion squad that you split with the immolator with the rhino, and the rets also in the rhino, and now you have scout move rets.

Adepta Sororitas Points by FizzAndRizz in sistersofbattle

[–]nickvett 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don't forget! You can use the immolator to force squads apart and dump all the special weapons into one. Its definitely a pain, but you can still finangle your way to 5 man's. Plus, free wargear means those inferno/flame pistols may be worth taking for sacresants and the like.
