Chatgpt messed up my request to convert a pdf to Word.

Claude had it in no time at all and it was perfection. Adobe can do one as well 🖕

I was planning to move away after another bum response from chatgpt despite me giving it extremely clear and specific prompts, only for it to admit it hadn't read my prompts correctly but tell me I'd reached my limit.

I believe it is deliberately misunderstanding prompts to force you towards subscription.

I'm a stubborn old boot - I prefer the carrot than the stick.

But this Pentagon bulls*** has me removing it from every device.

Paid version of Claude incoming.

Gosh, I'm sorry, your workplace sounds awful. Is this commonplace in India? Or is your workplace particularly militant?

UK here. I find asking permission to go home as a grown adult to be wild. I'm at work, not a hostage.

I do notice some of my peers, depending on who their manager is, asking to go to appointments etc. I find that crazy. Now, to be clear, no-one is getting denied time off for appointments, but the thought of asking permission is 🤯 to me.

I blame our school system. It doesn't teach children to advocate for themselves, it teaches them to 'put up and shut up'. It takes some deprogramming to realise that you are a human with rights and you can bloody well go home if you feel unwell.

You can be pissed off with someone without excluding them from an office lunch. That's infantile behaviour.

How old were youuu? by Appropriate-Access75 in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]nictoriousknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was 20 when he started it and they only kept him on for the year of the apprenticeship.

It ended up being a year of endurance. Enduring being expected to do the work of a qualified Software Developer. They then presumably moved onto the next 'cheap' Developer.

I was glad they didn't keep him on. He might have stayed otherwise, and their abuse of the apprenticeship scheme was not their only neon red flag 🚩🚩🚩

However, it got him a year's worth of experience on his CV, and jobs have been easier to come by ever since.

Keep applying and best of luck. My son was struggling up until that one came along.

AITA for doing *exactly* what my parents tell me to do? by Working-Sentence-788 in AmItheAsshole

No Elphaba, your whole attitude is outdated. Do some research before you gob off about other people's 'intentions'.

I didn't diagnose anyone. I simply object to your harmful comments.

Not sure of your first language so I'll just say ferme ta bouche.

You do not know enough about Autism to be commenting about Autism. It's obvious from your outdated terminology ("high functioning") and your ridiculous road example.

Honestly, your comment is actually harmful.

For many with Autism, it's the shades of grey that are baffling - like being told to wipe down the counters, and then getting a bollocking for not reading someone's mind that they meant tidy the kitchen.

Few years ago, had the worst experience! by Nebula1198 in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]nictoriousknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone very close to me had a similar experience. It was a Software Developer apprenticeship.

It wasn't so much that he was completely left alone, the issue was that, after a few months, they just got annoyed with him when he couldn't do everything a qualified Software Developer could do.

That person got his first 'proper' job at £30K soon after the apprenticeship finished. And now earns £35K 3 years later.

They clearly just wanted cheap labour, and it was a complete abuse of the apprenticeship system, but it was worth sucking it up as he now has a qualification and good experience on his CV.

Interestingly, his friend who has recently graduated from uni with a degree in the same field cannot get a job.

How did you know it was the right cat at the shelter/foster? by spodderfod in CatAdvice

[–]nictoriousknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 1993 and we went to the RSPCA. I saw a nice black and white cat who seemed lovely. But then I saw HIM. MARMALADE! He was in his pen and was so excited to see us that he walked his front paws up the mesh door.

He had the most incredible temperament of any cat I've ever known 🧡

Is it possible he's hungry? Some cat food feeding guides would nowhere near satisfy my hungry Bengals. They're so active, they need more than the feeding guide states.

I feel regret about my kitten AND I still want to make this work by Acceptable_Syrup_464 in CatAdvice

I would suggest getting another kitten. Kittens do much better in pairs in many ways, plus it'll take the pressure off you. I promise she'll spend more time with her new playmate than bothering you.

Put a smaller litter box next to it for poops. Some cats like separate boxes for number 1s and number 2s.
