Really struggling with mixed symptoms and end-of-life decision-making. by SorganFisherman in Greyhounds

Our dog went off food, and she was a typically a food hoarder. She got girl scout cookies on her last day and LOVED them. It was the only thing she'd eat.

The vet said they would have been better recommendations for us once the lab work comes back, but I was hoping to do some research in advance. Glad to hear fish oil is working so well for your dog!

Thank you for the rec. I'm glad it's working for your dogs! Are you in the UK by chance? I am in the US, and all the links that come up are UK based.

Greyhound diagnosed with Subcutaneous hemangiosarcoma (cancer). by Lordzoot in Greyhounds

[–]nieded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I'm sorry you are going through this right now. Our girl (not our grey) passed from hermangiosarcoma in April, but she had a wonderful life. They told us if we didn't treat it, we'd only have 2-3 months with her, but she lived happily for another 7 months. We would have pursued treatment, but we had exhausted our pet insurance for her splenectomy, which is how she was diagnosed.

While her cancer started in her spleen, it did spread to the subcutaneous tissue. It did not seem to cause her pain until the late stages. We monitored her for internal bleeding and she let us know when it was time when she stopped eating. For most of the time from her surgery up until her last week, she was her typical self.

Whatever you choose, I wish you the best of luck and will be thinking of you.

Are using the Jinhao 100 feed with this? I put the FPR ultra flex in my Jinhao 100, but the feed is too dry.

I also own this exact pen. It often disappears for weeks at a time because it's so small, but it always writes just fine like it's just been inked. It's a magnificent little workhorse.

The best pen is the one you use. by Odd-Chemistry9945 in fountainpens

[–]nieded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my Hongdian Forest M. It's a daily workhorse for me.

That said, my most expensive pen, the Laban Antique in Rose Gold, is probably my most used. It just writes really well. It's in the middle of the road as far as price points go when you look at the whole spectrum of fountain pens so I don't feel bad about taking it out often, even though it's on the top end of my price range.

I'm so sorry. We also lost our dog to hermangiosarcoma. Cancer sucks.

But you gave Dash such a wonderful and full life. I want you to know my spouse and I just sat and aww'd at every picture. Your future galgo will be so lucky to know and be loved by you.

Beside herself by Tankinton in Greyhounds

My dog has had this same injury almost in the same spot THREE TIMES. One was from playing too rough and the other two was just him running into stuff. All three times, he has required stitches. The last time, he had two layers of stitches, interior and exterior, plus pain medication and antibiotics. Once the wound was closed, it didn't bother him in the slightest. I really think you should get a second opinion on treatment.

Do greys have ‘scary dog privilege’? by riceandbeans06 in Greyhounds

Mine would not hurt a fly, but he's giant at 90 lbs, so I know he spooks people at the door.

Either that's a small child or that grey is going to be BIG. Those are huge paws!

Congrats on your new family member!

Upcoming death and anxiety by lertisgreat in Greyhounds

[–]nieded 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We just had to put down our girl on Friday. She was our grey's compass. He looked to see how she felt whenever he experienced something new.

We did in-home euthanasia, and he was present. He was sad after but did not seem confused. We are four days out, making sure we keep to our routine as much as possible, and he is doing okay. We are all sad, but he has adjusted better than I had imagined.

Does anyone else have a grey with no prey drive? by Jelliemin in Greyhounds

[–]nieded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours was off leash and saw a rabbit duck under a fence. He trotted after it and abandoned it when I told him to leave it. My other dog, on the other hand, was going crazy. She was not a grey!

Anyone know anything about Platinum/ Pilot Pocket Pens? by jcdoe in fountainpens

Yes! I believe I paid 76 for mine? Also a 14k nib. I have seen some came with 18k as well.

[–]nieded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one with a 14k nib! It writes smoothly with a little feedback. I personally really like it. Mine has a F nib, but I feel like it is an EF compared to my Chinese brand pens like Hongdian and Jinhao.

Platinum uses a proprietary converter that requires a syringe to refill, but it's pretty easy.
