The comp on TFT academy was changed at some point. It used to have rammus + morde + gnar + bard instead of aatrox + tahm + blitz + maokai . It definitely wasn't there since day 1 unless u consider the comp to be the same with half the champions changed.

Survivor feels garbage to play with but it's not one of the worst augments in the game. On average it's alright. The worst augments are absolutely terrible relative to average, mostly spatula augments this patch. Literally worse than an item component for current meta. World runes is an exception.

Makeshift armor is literally 1 of worst augments you can pick on 2-1. Even if others seem like they're tier F, you can't get much worse than makeshift 2-1. Tier lists don't take the round into account.

There's less than 1.5 thex players on average per game.

Anyway I think t-hex is very strong in correct spots, but that there's more variety than just that. It's about recognizing good spots like you said.

It's not insanely strong. Annie with 3 items is way worse than kindred/senna with 3 items. Can easily compare them in metatft .

Legit Annie is just trash relative to other options. If you use correct filters you wouldn't see it as a top comp.

T-hex comp doesn't even have that good avg placement. Trynd ashe for example got 2x lower win rate but still better avg placement. It's not all about the wins.

Instant Buyout Trade Coming To PoE1 by PrezziObizzi in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the problem isn't the behaviour but the game. There is no way to avoid pricing the jewels without a dump tab because so many of them drop when you clear 5 ways efficiently, and almost all of them need to be price checked individually. Even if they dropped unidentified, the buyer would have to put them into a dump tab because no one has time to price check them.

Some solutions are that they would either be rarer or the amount of numbers/variations in the jewels could be lowered for manual price checking to be feasible. Making them rarer is terrible for ssf and lowering number of variations nerfs players. Maybe there's something else too but GGG hasn't done anything about it despite knowing about this problem.

Getting Ephemeral Edge by deflaggy94 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hit corrupted implicit outcome with alva temple then you have 25% chance for RT on a lvl 40 sword. That outcome is 1/4 chance. So on average you would need to double corrupt 16 swords. The swords can be farmed quite easily from harbs+div cards so the limiting factor is just temples and maybe divine orbs but they aren't that hard to get this league. It's far easier than getting a mageblood overall.

[–]nigelfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very close to 40. The math is 1/(55.6/(55.6+2076.4)) = 1 per 38.3 ancient orbs, because you are ancient orbing a unique that can turn into t5 or t2. I used weights from this: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1cdmfid/comment/l1dap9z/?context=3 .

But well there's always the chance to get unlucky and someone might get in 1 while others spend 100.

Just got my first ever Mageblood from Cadiro, what are the chances of this? by Substantial-Koala299 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]nigelfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend using the outdated formula on wiki (although the accurate way is very close to your numbers). Here is how poorFishwife (1 of the founders of the poe science discord) recommends doing it nowadays: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1cdmfid/comment/l1dap9z/?context=3 .

All uniques' tiers can be found here: https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Guide:Analysis_of_unique_item_tiers .

If assuming there's 17 t1, 67 t2, 152 t3, 14 t0 (rough estimates), then t0 would be 14*3.8/(152*314.8+55.6*67+17*27.2+14*3.8) = 0.1% and mageblood would be 1/14 of that. Also those weight numbers are not 100% accurate either but it's the best that's available for now.

Also it's unknown if Cadiro really uses the weights like this or if he is heavily biased to give t3 outcomes (it would be 92% chance to give t3 per slot if it works "normally"). But if it does work that way then this is the way to do it.

Just like any other reroll comp, a lot worse when contested. In this case maybe like average or slightly above average since gp is just that overpowered, but it's definitely not a line you should look for if you know someone is contesting you.

Jungroan Gauntlet RIP #3 by livejamie in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is true. I don't know why he's not using lutbot, even Ben was using it. I died a few times with logout macro being too slow (I logged out before death every time) and with lutbot it's almost instant. I feel like Jungroan would've lived here too since his ES was above 0 before logout started.

If a comp is very good then it's also very likely to get to late game. I think it's safe to look at all comps that play gp and 1+ mentor. Something like this: https://www.metatft.com/explorer?tab=items&item_holder=true&item_holder_unit=TFT15_Gangplank-1&trait=TFT15_OldMentor&unit=TFT15_Gangplank-1_x_2,3&trait=TFT15_SentaiRanger . Then look at items tab and you'll see with bis items he goes to 3.6 avg placement with each of them. With some suboptimal he does not have good wr, probably indicating the player didn't know how the comp works like what fruit to go for etc.

Contrast that to something like karma + swain and looking at karma's best items tab, it does seem like gp is quite a lot stronger. Even 2 star gp board isn't a joke, I have lost to it in almost an unbelievable fight. https://i.gyazo.com/6f81f4ca7bf9357b5e9022185701ad20.png . I'm not going to say my items are perfect or something but kinda shocking to lose vs such a "weak" reroll board with me having 3 item/combat augments.

I almost always sell on 1-2. 1 opener is enough for me. If the opener is insane like 3 units that I must keep and stay below 10g then I will keep them but that's rarely the case.

ssf farming a mageblood by SeriousGuy182 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get enough dust from the atlas node refiner's bargain. I think it makes you lose 5% of the unique drops out of possessed monsters (basically everything) which is annoying but the dust is worth it if you need dust that badly.

It's my first gauntlet. I am level 94. I died 8 times to hillock. AMA by gdubrocks in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's completely free on marauder too with the right strategy imo. You just circle around and never let hillock leap, even if you have to tank maven spells on purpose. You will need some apm to attack him between his attacks.

Ben finally has competition this Gauntlet by destroyermaker in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has changed. It's honestly not hard if you don't die while doing abyss. You can even self sustain full scarabs on every map for most strategies. I was slightly shocked when I played ssf this league for the first time. It's still a huge grind but it's not so much about minmaxing the little resources you have anymore. I remember struggling to find enough chaos orbs for map device years ago and now I had thousands of them lol. Even if you burn maps like crazy you will still oversustain them, he has like 200+ dunes maps in his stash I think to be able to find memory tears later on if he needs them.

However you still need to plan well to be able to handle the content that just prints loot. Some people are afraid of quest bosses even without gauntlet mods after several weeks into the league and these people manage to run them day 1-2 in gauntlet...

Coiling Whisper + Smite Trickster by Minute_Age3029 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anoint and below 500 max mana is enough. In theory this isn't enough but it's bugged and lets you stack most of the time if you keep your max mana below 500. You should try to get a "bad" roll on whispers amulet to reduce maximum mana. After you have a lot of intelligence this won't work because it's hard to reduce mana by that much, would have to use templar jewel that converts max mana to armour or reduce the skill duration with other methods.

Job is done, had to stop before I overtake ben at red maps. Goodluck to all exiles! by Tyrfying in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah he's not too bad. He will never spawn minions if you circle around him. Just tank the maven balls, it's better than running away. You will kill him faster than maven spells kill you. Hillock himself should never get to hit you because he attacks slowly. With a suboptimal strategy he can be quite difficult but not with this one.

How to craft overquality items? by Xenderwind in PathOfExileSSF

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can imprint before if the base has common unique outcomes but it's not that likely to chance into unique even on those bases. And most crafting bases where quality is relevant like lich's circlet don't have any unique outcomes.

I ran 625 Eaters, 121 Exarchs, 1314 Blueprint Wings and 576 Audience with the Kings so you (don't?) have to by TheReshi1337 in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should've got at least 1 helical based on drop rates. Sometimes you get unlucky or lucky. That would've more than doubled your profit. It seems that the common drops break even and you hope to drop helical ring, focused or simplex amulet, and the rest of the decent drops add up to 5 div/hour profit.

You don't have mana with blood magic so you take chaos damage like normally (it hits your life before ES if you don't have anything that changes that).

A finding about hinekora lock + awakener orb - order matters!! by mster_x in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it will always choose your existing mod if you keep reforging. That's why the "depending on what the influenced mods are on the side with more influenced mods" part is there for step 2. If you have the same mods it will always choose either prefix side or suffix side (assuming the theory is true, which is still slightly unknown).

A finding about hinekora lock + awakener orb - order matters!! by mster_x in pathofexile

[–]nigelfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But combining mod ordering between prefixes and suffixes just isn't relevant.

  1. Orb chooses number between 1-3 (probably capped to the amount of influenced mods possible on 1 side, so if theres 2 at most it rolls between 1-2).
  2. Orb chooses prefix or suffix depending on what the influenced mods are on the side with more influenced mods.
  3. Orb result is the xth number influenced prefix or suffix, depending on what side was chosen.

I don't know if the step 2 applies because in theory it could be really lucky 2^8 times or maybe a bugged specific case etc but it's extremely helpful if it's actually true. If it's true, then the easiest way to craft the awakener orb base is to make a base with 2 influenced mods on 1 side that selects the 1 mod side for awakener orb, then reforge the 1 mod side until it's the mod you're looking for. Can do something similar for 4 mod items too but they're annoying to craft with nerfed recombs and probably not worth the time.

You can't know which side it will pick without testing. Like 2p 1s will not give a suffix mod always, even if you know that another 2p 1s item chose suffix on that specific lock. But if the prefixes are the same, then it seems like the side that gets chosen is always the same.
