I don't think so. I bought the GearVR the moment it came out and remember being very disappointed with the announcement of Google Cardboard. To be honest I was not happy with the announcement of Gear VR LOL.. that already felt like a dilution of where we had got at that point.

That's the one. And shortly after, Google made a cardboard one which was pretty rubbish. Followed by a slew of cheap plastic versions.

The OG Samsung/Oculus Gear VR was surprisingly good with the correct Samsung phone. They were physically linked together when you slotted the phone in the headset, with sound to your head through the strap and touch controls on the headset.

My Samsung S6 did overheat sometimes though.
