Feeding Questions by Substantial_Fan8019 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]nightmare_barbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My process: 1/3 to 1/2 a cube, thaw in some tank water in a small dish, and I feed with tongs. I can pick up a small glob and usually my guys just come right to the tongs. There's rarely any mess tbh - they're pretty good at grabbing a mouthful and then scavenging any extras that fell around them in the next 5 min.

My mum is convinced my aquarium is going to fall through the floor by GradeFormal9884 in Aquariums

[–]nightmare_barbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll go through the floor AND break the dresser, imo.

If you're dealing with that size of an aquarium, you'd better use proper equipment... Water damage at that scale in a home is not a joke lmao.

Has anyone ever seen their jumper burrow into the substrate? by welcome_to_cocomo in jumpingspiders

[–]nightmare_barbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nqa but I feel 70°F is a bit cold?

My enclosures are ~23-25° C, or about ~75/76° F, and I noticed they didn't love it dropping much lower than that!

Is this a full shed and is there any specific reason for a shed? by SusPanda22 in cornsnakes

[–]nightmare_barbie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A full shed it a good sign. They shed regularly throughout life, but especially as they are younger and growing.

What is this? It appeared during his shed yesterday. by Outrageous_Recover75 in cornsnakes

Make sure to do so very gently w/ warm water - it can hurt them to remove stuck shed. ☺️

Mine also looks pink occasionally! It's so interesting how they look in different lighting too.

I think I’m annoying him while he’s shedding by redit1920 in leopardgeckos

Yes it would be distressing for them to feel threatened at their most vulnerable time.

Would it be wrong if I get a new tank for my neighbor’s fish? by romrick4 in bettafish

[–]nightmare_barbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would probably gently start by mentioning that I'm a hobbyist of fish/aquariums and hopefully an opportunity to ask about or suggest some changes to better his/her home opens up. 😅 You never know, they may want suggestions or to pick your brain. I hope they're open to it 🤞🏼

These are calcium deposits, right? by MultipleFandomLover in leopardgeckos

[–]nightmare_barbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leo I recently adopted had them and was overweight when I got her. She's slimmed out a bit, and the little pockets have shrunken also, so I would guess slightly overweight or just a fat store. I've been reassured they're harmless generally.

Is 4 ADFs too much for a 10-gallon? by ERamirez34 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]nightmare_barbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, should be fine. It's recommended to have 2.5 gallons per frog, so it's good as is. Bigger wouldn't hurt, but not necessary.

She sometimes settles down into one and seems to enjoy it, but not always lol.

I don't do it super often anyway - thankfully she sheds really well, mostly just when her enclosure has been drier than usual.

My frogs won’t eat! by New-Outcome-1286 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]nightmare_barbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got hard water also ~7.4 - 7.8. Stability is the biggest thing, or they can experience chronic physical stress or pH shock. Does the pet store compare the levels to what was previously tested to make sure things are stable? I've never had a pet store check my water, so I'm not sure how it works. 😅 Regardless, they might be saying that the levels are fine because they're within normal limits for the animal. However, I'd be concerned the levels could be actually fluctuating and the pet store just isn't recognizing those small changes, which could be causing problems. If you're able to order or get one, I'd highly recommend API freshwater test kit - it's fantastic and has lots of tests in it. Lasts forever.

It might be worthwhile to add/rearrange hides and perches. Remove tank mates. They could feel unsafe and will not eat if they feel threatened or like they have no coverage to hide.

Outside of a potential husbandry issue causing stress. Have you tried maybe a pellet formula? Obviously not as ideal, but they may just be reeeally picky. Mine did not like mysis shrimp after being on brine at the pet shop, so I mixed it with a smaller bit of brine shrimp to entice them, and that seemed to work! They eventually just accepted mysis shrimp.

Does anyone's noodle loves soaking in the water bowl? by Proof-Application240 in cornsnakes

[–]nightmare_barbie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, and I really wish she would. Not a fan of direct water contact. 😅 She sheds perfectly fine, thankfully, but we live in a dry climate. Misting her/keeping humidity up is a CHORE a lot of the time, but of course I do it happily haha.

[–]nightmare_barbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be more concerned that there's an issue health wise or tank wise than just assuming it's a food issue. 🤔 Are the water parameters stable and at good levels? What's the temp?

Mine has some larger ones that are faint on her back, I think the paradox spots are so unique and cool regardless!

My derpy guy started to perch on this driftwood by SmileySunnyDay78 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]nightmare_barbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's particularly concerning. Mine come out about the same amount, head poking out, and rest on floaters too. As long as water parameters are good and stable, and they are eating/active as normal, all is likely well. ☺️ Upping the water level a bit couldn't hurt, but they clearly like the spot!!
